Para 1 It was five or six minutes though it felt much longer. Para 2 The video was posted the Monday before Halloween.

(I’m not sure now why I thought forcing my head inside the pumpkin would settle the matter,),让人忍俊不禁的滑稽形象(with the huge pumpkin resting on my shoulders)、“妈妈”在旁记录我们生活上的点滴、,头被卡住后怎么调整角度都不行的,等等都体现出文本轻松、温馨、幽默的基调,文本后半部分因为头卡在了挖出了瓤的南瓜里面而挣脱不了,“我”着急,却也给家人带去了始料未及的欢乐。

When I lived in Las Vegas, we had to make do with baseball-size ones from the grocery store. But since we moved to the north-west 10 years ago, we’ve visited a local farm every October. There we ride tractors to the pumpkin patch and I compete with my three brothers and sister to seek out the biggest specimen. My dad has a rule that we have to carry our pumpkins back to the wheelbarrow, and as the eldest child I have an advantage – in 2015 I staggered back with an 85-pounder.The following year, when I was 16, it was hard to tell whether my prize or the one chosen by my 14-year-old brother, Jason, was the winner. Unfortunately we neglected to weigh them before scooping out their innards, but I was determined to prove my point. All five of us were hard at work at the kitchen table, with my mom filming the annual ritual. I’m unsure now why I thought forcing my head inside the pumpkin wouldsettle the matter, but it seemed to make perfect sense at the time. With the pumpkin resting on the table, hole uppermost, I leaned over and pressed my crown against the opening. At first I got jammed just above my eyes and then, as I leant into my task, unwilling to quit, my nose briefly prevented entry. Then in it popped: my whole head, like a cork forced into a bottle. I was able to straighten up, triumphantly, with the gigantic squash resting on my shoulders. My exultation was short-lived. The pumpkin was heavy. “I’m going to set it down, now,” I said, and with Jason helping to support its weight, I bent back over the table to give it somewhere to rest. It was only when I tried to remove my head that I realised getting out was going to be less straightforward than getting in. The knot of my ponytail caught against the rim when I tried to pull out, as did the underside of my jaw. When I pulled my chin into my neck, my nose got in the way instead. I felt a jab of panic as I braced against the table and moved my head around trying to find the right angle, but it was no use. “I can’t get it out!” I roared, my voice sounding unnaturally loud in the enclosed space. The muffled voices from outside were oddly calming, though – Mom unruffled and amused, Jason giving advice, my 10-year-old brother, Austin, singing a song I couldn’t make out. There was enough space around my neck to let a little light in and, fortunately, I’ve always liked the smell of pumpkin. My bellowing provoked little sympathy. “Don’t use up all your oxygen,” Mom suggested.Dad was summoned – less, it seemed, in expectation of practical help than to make sure he didn’t miss out on the spectacle. I heard him propose calling the fire department. “Stay tuned,” said Mom; she’d mentioned she was going to upload the video to Facebook, but it was only then I realised she’d been filming the whole time. I was stuck for five or six minutes though it felt much, much longer. The video cutsbefore my rescue – Dad got me to push my head farther into the pumpkin so Mom could reach in and undo the rubber band round my ponytail. I emerged with squash-conditioned hair, a sore chin and my nose plugged with pulp. That Facebook video went up the Monday before Halloween, and by the end of that day it had over 1,000 views. People asked Mom to put it on YouTube, and by Wednesday morning we were getting 5am calls from TV breakfast shows and then the international media –the video started racking up hundreds of thousands of views. When I went on a youth camp, I was recognised by children I’d never met. The pumpkin also became a minor celebrity. Passersby and trick-or-treaters would knock and ask, “Which is Rachel’s pumpkin?” before taking selfies with it.Although our pumpkin carving the following year was a more sedate affair, I wouldn’t say I learned my lesson. A few months later I squeezed myself into a laundry basket during a game of hide-and-seek and became hopelessly jammed. It was Dad who responded to my cries for help. Inevitably, I was kept waiting for a while – first he had to look for the video camera.。

At first I got jammed just above my eyes and then, as I went on with my task, unwilling to quit, my nose briefly prevented entry. Finally I managed to put my whole head into it, like a cork (软木塞) forced into a bottle. I was able to straighten up with the huge pumpkin resting on my shoulders. My excitement was short-lived. The pumpkin was heavy. "I'm going to set it down, now," I said, and with Jason helping to support its weight, I bent back over the table to give it somewhere to rest. It was only when I tried to remove my head that I realized getting out was going to be less straightforward than getting in. When I pulled hard, my nose got in the way. I got into a panic as I pressed firmly against the table and moved my head around trying to find the right angle, but it was no use. "I can't get itout!" I shouted, my voice sounding unnaturally loud in the enclosed space.注意:1. 所续写短文的词数应为l50左右;2. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;Paragraph 1:I was stuck for five or six minutes though it felt much longer.__________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 2:The video was posted online the Monday before Halloween.__________________________________________________________________________________范文1I was stuck for five or six minutes though it felt much longer. Sweating and nearly tearing, I could imagine how silly and strange I was at that moment based on the continuing laughter from my parents and Jason. (非谓语动词及宾语从句)With every angle tried in vain for myannoyance.(with复合结构)At last, Dad determined to break the pumpkin with the help of the sharp knife. "It's done!" the voice from my dad seemed to be the most beautiful melody, and a breath of fresh air eventually entered. With my head getting out of the pumpkin and my body straightening, what I had seen was a close-up-camera. My dearwhen her daughter was in suffering! That video was posted the day before Halloween. To our surprise, the video managed to catch much attention from people online, racking up(赢得、获得)hundreds of thousands of views. Neighbors and friends recognized the pulling head person was me and regarded me as a celebrity. It was when some reporters and TV stations called for interview that I truly realized how hot and popular this video became.(强调句)During Halloween, which was a festival of trick and treat, I tricked myself instead. Though I was dissatisfied with my ugly gesture and stupid image, I was satisfied with the happiness and fun that I brought to others. Undoubtedly, it became the most unforgettable Halloween even if I still had no idea of whose pumpkin was heavier yet.范文2I was stuck for five or six minutes though it felt much longer. The hard pumpkin weighed stubbornly upon my shoulder, not wanting to budge at all.(非谓语动词)Through the thick wall of the pumpkin's meaty shell, I could hear my dad and Jason struggling to hold back their laughter while supporting me to pull my oversized orange astronaut helmet off.(比喻)I attempted the artful removal of pumpkin head calling out all of my hidden gymnastic abilities in ways that I knew I never could have moved. To put it simply, my body was like an octopus (章鱼)crawling out of a borrowed conch shell(海螺壳), and my mom captured all the tactful(机智的、圆滑的)escape on camera. That video was posted online the Monday before Halloween. Never had I ever felt so embarrassed but never had I ever been so famous! (倒装句)Instantly, without a few hours, it became a hit that the video started racking up hundreds of thousands of views. My emotions were soconflicted between whether I should be happy or sad. As it turned out, my dad managed to hold on to the pumpkin and keep it steady so that I could perform my dance routine. Together, the choreography(编舞)appeared quite hilarious(滑稽的). Until today, I am still unsure what to make of that unforgettable Halloween and super thankful for my dad's rescue.范文3I was stuck for five or six minutes though it felt much longer. Panicky though I was, my family found my foolish display more comical than dangerous.(倒装句)To my disappointment, instead of trying to help, Jason reached for his phone. While mom and dad was working hard to help calm me down in between fits of laughter, Jason recorded the whole ordeal(磨难、严峻考验). He was determined to keep a video record of the events in its full entirety, surely to tease me with it for a long time to come. Pull as I might, my head couldn't budge(稍微移动).(倒装句)Finally, after some olive oil to help ease the friction and a final pull with all my might, I stumbled back to the ground--my head free and the pumpkin firmly grasped by mom and dad. That video was posted online the Monday before Halloween. If I didn't feel humiliated enough at home, I got to live with my foolishness in school as well. It was not long before I was given the nickname "Pumpkin Head", and it stuck. The nickname could not come at a better time; my friends begged me to seriously consider putting my head back in the pumpkin for our annual trick-or-treating adventures the next night. At this point, I could not do anything but smile and chuckle(轻声笑)along with the rest of my friends. Acts of foolishness can happen to anybody. After all, I would have done the same to Jason or my friends if they werethe ones stuck in the pumpkin.(虚拟语气)With the arrival of Halloween night, I went around my community with my friends,trick-or-treating with my head in another pumpkin that mom and dad had found for me. This time, I made sure to cut a big enough hole.。

2021年1月浙江高考英语续写范文Zhejiang College Entrance Examination (高考) English Writing Section: January 2021Prompt:Read the following passage and continue it in 150-200 words.I couldn't believe what I was seeing in front of me. The magnificent creature stood before me, its golden fur glistening in the sunlight. It was a lion, but not like any lion I had ever seen before. Its eyes held a wisdom that seemed otherworldly, and as it stared at me, I felt an inexplicable connection. I had always been drawn to animals, but this was different. This lion felt like a kindred spirit, a guide from another realm. From the moment I laid eyes on the lion, I knew that my life would never be the same. It beckoned me closer, and as I approached, I could hear its gentle purring. Without a word, it started walking, and I followed, feeling a sense of peace wash over me. We walked for what felt like hours, the lion leading me through dense forests and across vast plains. Finally, we arrived at a clearing, and the lion turned to face me. In that moment, I knew that it was time to say goodbye. Witha final purr, it faded away, leaving me standing alone in the clearing, forever changed by the encounter.Response:As the lion disappeared before my eyes, I was left with a profound sense of gratitude. It had shown me a side of myself that I had never known, a connection to the natural world that went beyond words. I knew that I would always carry the memory of our encounter with me, a reminder of the beauty and wonder that existed in the world.Since that day, I have dedicated myself to protecting the environment and the creatures that call it home. I have volunteered at animal sanctuaries, worked to raise awareness about conservation efforts, and fought to create a more sustainable future for our planet. The lion may have left me physically, but its spirit remains with me, guiding me in my quest to make a difference. In the end, I realize that the lion was not just a random encounter, but a symbol of the responsibility we all have to protect the world around us. As I look back on that day, I am filled with a sense of purpose and determination, knowing that I have the power to make a difference, just like the lion showed me. And for that, I will be forever grateful.。

2021年英语浙江卷读后续写优秀作文

2021年英语浙江卷读后续写优秀作文

2021年英语浙江卷读后续写优秀作文As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the city, Emily stood at the crossroads of her life. The bustling streets of Shanghai seemed to mirror the tumultuous thoughts racing through her mind. She had always been a planner, a dreamer, meticulously charting out her future. But now, faced with the unexpected twists and turns that life had thrown her way, she found herself questioning everything she once held certain. The letter from her estranged father lay heavy in her pocket, its contents a siren call to a past she had long tried to forget. He spoke of regret, of lost time, and of a desire to reconnect. Emily had built walls around her heart, yet his words threatened to crumble them, stirring a maelstrom of emotions she could neither name nor fully understand. As she navigated the crowded streets, her thoughts drifted to her mother, a constant beacon of strength and resilience. Her mother's lessons echoed in her mind, reminding her that life was not a series of calculated steps but a dance, unpredictable and ever-changing. It was a lesson Emily had resisted, always preferring the safety of her plans to the daunting uncertainty of the unknown. But there, amidst the symphony of city sounds, Emily felt a shift within her. The letter was not just a bridge to her past but a gateway to a new beginning. She realized that the plans she clung to were not the anchors she believed them to be but weights that held her back from truly experiencing the richness of life. With a newfound resolve, Emily made her way to the old neighborhood where memories of her childhood lingered in the air like the faint melody of a forgotten song. The streets were narrower here, the buildings older, each one holding stories of generations past. She found her father's address, an unassuming house nestled between a bakery and a small bookstore.Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and anticipation. The door creaked open, and there stood a man with eyes that mirroredher own. Words failed her as they stood in silence, the years of separation stretching between them like an unspoken apology. In that moment, Emily understood the true essence of forgiveness and the power it held to heal old wounds. She stepped forward, bridging the gap with an embrace that spoke volumes more than any words could. They were strangers, yet bound by an indelible thread of kinship. As they sat down to tea, sharing stories and laughter, Emily felt the walls around her heart crumble. She saw her father not as the figure from her childhood tales of abandonment but as a man, flawed and human, seeking redemption. The night grew deep, and as Emily walked back to her apartment, the city seemed different, as if it too had been transformed by her journey. She realized that life's beauty lay not in the certainty of plans but in the unexpected detours that led to moments of profound connection and growth.Emily's story was not one of a neatly tied conclusion but of a continuous unfolding, a testament to the human spirit's capacity to adapt, to forgive, and to love. In the end, she found that the greatest plan she could ever make was to embrace life in all its messy, glorious unpredictability. 。

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

(注:根据全国卷读后续写的特点,删除了原题中的划线词及续写要求)(2021年浙江卷)My dad, George, only had an eighth grade education. A quiet man, he didn't understand my world of school activities. From age 14, he worked. And his dad, Albert, took the money my dad earned and used it to pay family expenses.I didn't really understand his world either: He was a livestock trucker, and I thought that I would surpass (超过) anything he had accomplished by the time I walked across the stage at high school graduation.Summers in the mid-70s were spent at home shooting baskets, hitting a baseball, or throwing a football, preparing for my future as a quarterback on a football team. In poor weather, I read about sports or practiced my trombone (长号).The summer before my eighth grade I was one of a group of boys that a neighboring farmer hired to work in his field. He explained our basic task, the tractor fired up and we were off, riding down the field looking for weeds to spray with chemicals. After a short way, the farmer stopped and pointed at a weed which we missed. Then we began again. This happened over and over, but we soon learned to identify different grasses like cockleburs, lamb's-quarters, foxtails, and the king of weeds, the pretty purple thistle. It was tiring work, but I looked forward to the pay, even though I wasn't sure how much it would amount to.At home, my dad said, "A job's a big step to growing up. I'm glad you will be contributing to the household." My dad's words made me realize that my earnings might not be mine to do with as I wished. My labors lasted about two weeks, and the farmer said there might be more work, but I wasn't interested. I carefully counted the money again and again. It was 80 dollars-exactly a great fortune! My eyes sparkled but soon my heart sank at the thought of handing it over. Suddenly an idea came into my mind. When I got home, I found my parents kept sighing, their forehead deepening. Before figuring out why, I handed them 40 dollars and said it was my two weeks' salary. "Great! Your tuition fee is settled." My dad exclaimed(呼喊、惊叫、大声说).I understood immediately what my parents were worried about. Every year, my school tuition was a big family expense. I saw my father’s hard-working figure and thought of his words “A job’s a big step to growing up”.I understood immediately what my parents were worried about. 一、2021浙江首考读后续写Pumpkin (南瓜)carving at Halloween is a family tradition. We visit a local farm every October. In the pumpkin field, I compete with my three brothers and sister to seek out the biggest pumpkin. My dad has a rule that we have to carry our pumpkins back home, and as the eldest child I have an advantage —I carried an 85-pounder back last year. This year, it was hard to tell whether my prize or the one chosen by my 14-year-old brother, Jason, was the winner. Unfortunately we forgot to weigh them before taking out their insides, but I was determined to prove my point. All of us were hard at work at the kitchen table, with my mom filming the annual event. I’m unsure now why I thought forcing my head inside the pumpkin would settle the matter, but it seemed to make perfect sense at the time. With the pumpkin resting on the table, hole uppermost, I bent over and pressed my head against the opening. “I’m going to set it down, now,”I said, and with Jason helpingto support its weight, I bent back over the table to give it somewhere to rest. It was only when I tried to remove my head that I realized getting out was going to be less straightforward than getting in. When I pulled hard, my nose got in the way. I got into a panic as I pressed firmly against the table and moved my head around trying to find the right angle, but it was no use. “I can’t get it out!”I shouted, my voice sounding unnaturally loud in the enclosed space.

1The Unlucky JacketLast year, my family went on a hiking trip in the mountains. I was so excited because I had just gotten a brand new bright green jacket for my birthday. It was my favorite color and I couldn't wait to wear it on our adventure. The morning we left, I put on my lucky new jacket and we headed out. The first few hours of the hike were lots of fun. We saw woodpeckers hammering on the trees, squirrels scampering around gathering nuts, and deer quietly munching on grass. I felt like a brave explorer trekking through the wilderness in my green jacket. But then the troubles began. First, I stumbled over a tree root and got my jacket covered in mud. Mom tried to wipe it off but it left big brown splotches. Then, when we stopped for lunch, I leaned against a tree and a juicy red berry smashed all over the back of the jacket, staining it terribly."Don't worry, we'll get it properly cleaned when we get home," Dad reassured me, seeing my crestfallen face. After lunch, things got even worse for my poor jacket. As we climbed over a rocky area, I slipped on some loose pebbles and fell, tearing a big rip in the sleeve. I started to cry, but tried to be brave and kept on hiking. An hour later, I was following too close behind my little brother and he accidentally knocked a pinecone right into the jacket's hood, leaving a green sticky mess of sap. By this point, I didn't even care anymore - my beautiful new jacket was hopelessly ruined. The final straw came when we reached a stream to refill our water bottles. I bent down at the water's edge to cup some in my hands, but leaned too far and went tumbling in! The whole jacket was soaking wet and covered with algae. I pulled myself out, shivering and thoroughly miserable about the state of my once-pristine green coat. When we finally got back home after the long, treacherous hike, I pulled off the sopping, filthy jacket and threw it in the trash without a second thought. So much for my lucky new present – it had brought me nothing but rotten luck! From thatpoint on, I nicknamed it "The Unlucky Jacket" as a reminder to myself.Looking back though, maybe it wasn't such an unlucky jacket after all. It kept me warm when I fell into the stream, and protected me from getting scraped up too badly when I slipped on the rocks. And now, I'll always have a funny story to tell about the hiking trip when my perfect new jacket turned into amud-stained, ripped, sap-covered disaster! Whenever I see someone dressed up in fancy clothes, I'll think about The Unlucky Jacket and how some of my greatest adventures came when I looked an absolute mess. Getting dirty is just part of exploring the great outdoors and making wonderful memories!篇2The Lemonade StandAfter reading the story about the two kids who opened a lemonade stand, I was really inspired! It sounded like such a fun adventure. I talked to my best friend Lily and we decided we wanted to try running our own lemonade stand too.First, we had to get supplies. Mom took us to the grocery store and we picked out fresh lemons, sugar, and a bag of ice. We already had a small folding table at home that would beperfect for our stand. Lily's dad helped us make a big sign that said "Lemonade 50 cents" in bright colors. The next morning, we got up early and got to work. We rolled up our sleeves and started squeezing all those lemons. It was hard work! My arms got tired after a while from all the squeezing. But we kept going until we had a whole pitcher full of fresh lemon juice. Then we added water and sugar and stirred it up really well. We tasted it a few times to get the right balance of sweet and sour. Once it was perfect, we put the lemonade in the fridge to chill while we set up our stand outside. We put the little table at the end of my driveway and covered it with a bright yellow tablecloth. We put out the lemonade pitcher, some plastic cups, and the ice bucket. Lily hung up our big sign and we were ready for business! At first, not many people came by. We saw a few neighbors out walking their dogs, but they didn't stop. I started to feel a little discouraged. But then a family who lives down the street came over with their two kids."Lemonade on a hot day? Don't mind if we do!" the dad said with a smile. We poured four big cups full of our lemonade for them."This is really good!" the mom said after taking a sip. The little kids agreed, slurping it down quickly. After that, more and more people started coming over when they saw our stand was open. We had kids from all over the neighborhood stopping by on their bikes. We made enough money to buy a new jump rope and sidewalk chalk to play with!Running the lemonade stand was harder work than I expected, but it was also a lot of fun. We got to be our own bosses and make our own money. We felt so grown up and independent. Lily and I have already decided we want to do it again next weekend. Maybe we'll get even more customers by playing some music!I know we'll have lots of adventures trying out different lemonade recipes too. I saw some ideas online for adding fresh fruit or mint to make new flavors. Or we could make pink lemonade by putting in a few strawberries! There are so many possibilities. My favorite part was getting to spend all day outside visiting with our neighbors and friends. Everybody was so nice and supportive of our little business. Some people even gave us extra money "for the college fund" and told us to keep up the good work. It made me feel really proud. At the end of the day, after we packed everything up, Lily and I split the money we had earned fair and square. I have my share tucked away in my piggy bank, saving up for my next big idea! Who knows what entrepreneurial adventure I'll go on next? Maybe a bake sale, or a neighborhood car wash. As long as I have my best friend and entrepreneurial spirit by my side, I'm ready for any business challenge that comes my way!篇3The Incredible Journey of Momo the MonkeyThe day started like any other. I woke up early, had my breakfast of banana pancakes that Mom made, and got ready for school. Little did I know that an incredible adventure awaited me!As I was walking to the bus stop, I heard a strange noise coming from the bushes. Being a curious kid, I went to investigate. And that's when I saw the most adorable little monkey! He was all alone, shivering and looking very scared."Hi there, little guy!" I said gently, not wanting to frighten him further. "Where did you come from?"The monkey just stared at me with his big brown eyes. He didn't seem to understand me. That's when I noticed the tag on his arm - it had the name "Momo" written on it."Momo, huh? Don't worry, I'll help you find your way home,"I promised, slowly reaching out my hand.To my surprise, Momo walked right up to me and climbed onto my shoulder, clinging tightly. He must have been really lost and scared. I couldn't just leave him there!I missed the school bus that day. But finding Momo's home became my top priority. I walked all around the neighborhood, showing Momo's picture to everyone I met, asking if they knew where he belonged. No one seemed to recognize him.I was getting tired and hungry, and poor Momo looked exhausted too. That's when we stumbled upon an amazing sight - a huge circus tent being set up on the outskirts of town! I rushed over to ask if they were missing a monkey. The circus staff were thrilled to see Momo. He was the star of their show, a highly trained acrobatic monkey who had gonemissing after their last performance. They couldn't believe I had found him!Momo's handlers told me all about his incredible talents. He could do flips, walk on tightropes, and even ride a tiny tricycle! They offered me free tickets to see him perform that night as a thank you for bringing him back safely. After the show, I got to go backstage and visit Momo in his personal trailer. He gave me a big monkey hug to thank me for rescuing him. The circus staff were so grateful, they even offered me a job as Momo's personal assistant when I grew up!As I headed home that night, I thought about how the day had turned out to be one of the greatest adventures of my life - all because I stopped to help a little lost monkey named Momo. Who knows what other incredible experiences await just around the corner? From that day on, whenever I see a circus poster or hear about some amazing animal act, I smile and think of my new friend Momo. He taught me that kindness and curiosity can lead you on journeys you never could have imagined. I feel so lucky to have been a small part of his amazing story.篇4A Snowy AdventureHi, my name is Xiaoming! You probably read about me and my sister Xiaohua in that reading passage on the exam. Well, let me tell you what happened after that snowy day when we got in trouble for playing outside too long. When we finally came inside after Mom called us like a million times, we were soaking wet and freezing cold. Our teeth were chattering like crazy! Mom was really mad. Her face was all red and she had her hands on her hips, tapping her foot."Xiaoming! Xiaohua! Just look at the two of you, dripping all over the floor. Didn't I tell you not to stay out so late?" Mom scolded. "Now march upstairs and get out of those wet clothes right now before you catch pneumonia!"We hurried upstairs, leaving a trail of wet footprints behind us. I pulled off my drenched mittens, scarf, and hat, then struggled to get my snow pants and boots off. My fingers were numb from the cold. Finally I peeled off my wet sweater - it felt like I was wearing a heavy ice blanket! I grabbed a big towel and dried myself off vigorously to get warm.Xiaohua and I put on our warm pajamas and fuzzy slippers. Ahhh, that felt much better! We headed back downstairs whereMom had made us some steaming hot chocolate to help warm us up. It tasted so rich and chocolate-y. The delicious smell filled the kitchen."You two had me very worried, staying out in that blizzard for so long," Mom said, giving us a hug. "But I'm glad you're safe inside now where it's warm and cozy.""We're sorry for not listening, Mom," I said, feeling a little guilty. "We just got carried away having fun in the snow.""Yes, making that huge snowman was really exciting!" Xiaohua added. "He turned out so big and nice. We named him Frosty."Mom laughed. "Well, as long as you understand why I was upset. Just be more careful next time, okay? Let's watch the weather forecast to see if there might be any more snow coming."We turned on the TV to the weather channel. Sure enough, the meteorologist said another cold front would be moving in overnight, bringing more heavy snow!"Yay, more snow tomorrow! Can we go out and play again after school?" I asked excitedly."We'll see," Mom replied. "It depends on how bad the storm is. Either way, you'll need to bundle up really well if you do go out again."After we finished our hot chocolate, Xiaohua and I went upstairs to get ready for bed. We couldn't wait to see if it would really snow again tomorrow so we could make another amazing snowman! The next morning when we looked out the window, the whole world was covered in a fresh, fluffy white blanket of snow. It was still lightly snowing, with big, fat flakes drifting lazily down from the sky."Wow, it's a winter wonderland out there!" I exclaimed in awe. We could hardly see across the street, the snow was coming down so thick. We bundled up in our warmest clothes - sweaters, snow pants, big coats, boots, mittens, hats, and scarves. We looked like little puffy marshmallow kids!"Don't forget to zip up," Mom reminded us. "And I put hand and foot warmers in your boots and mittens to help keep you toasty.""Thanks Mom!" We headed outside, crunching through the fresh, powdery snow. It was perfect packing snow, just right for making snowmen and snow forts.Xiaohua and I decided to build a whole family of snowpeople this time. We rolled up a huge ball for the bottom part of the biggest one, who would be the father. I lifted and heaved while Xiaohua pushed and rolled to get it into place.Next we made two medium-sized balls stacked on top for the mom snowlady. Then two smaller ones for the kid snowpeople. We used rocks for their mouths and eyes, branches for arms, and my hat and Xiaohua's scarf for their accessories.By the time we finished, our fingers were frozen sticks and our cheeks were rosy red from the biting wind. But we had the greatest snowpeople family ever!"Hi dad, hi mom, hi kids!" I waved my twiggy arm at our frozen creations. "Welcome to the neighborhood!"Just then, a huge gust of wind came howling down the street, spraying us with blowing snow. "Whoa, that was a strong one!" Xiaohua shouted over the noise.Suddenly, Dad Snowman's head went tumbling off and rolled away. "Oh no, Dad's head just blew off!" I cried out. Wechased after it, slipping and sliding on the icy ground trying to catch the runaway head.It finally stopped rolling in the middle of the road. Just as I reached down to grab it, I heard the unmistakable sound of a engine revving and tires crunching on snow coming towards me.A huge truck was barreling down the street straight at me!"Xiaoming, watch out!" Xiaohua screamed in terror. I was frozen in fear, paralyzed in the middle of the road with the truck bearing down on me. At the last second, something rammed into my side, knocking me out of the path of the oncoming truck with a thud.I tumbled head over heels into a soft snowbank, dazed. Xiaohua came running over, panic all over her face. "Are you okay? That truck almost hit you!""Y-yeah, I'm alright, just shaken up," I replied, wincing as I gingerly stood up. I couldn't believe how close I had come to being run over! I shuttered to think what could have happened if my sister hadn't pushed me out of the way just in time."You saved my life!" I gave Xiaohua a big hug, so grateful to have such a brave, quick-thinking sister. "Thank you, thank you!"She hugged me back tightly. "Of course, I couldn't let my dopey little brother get squashed like a snowman!" She punched my arm playfully. We looked over and saw the truck had stopped a little way down the street. The driver was getting out, looking upset."What in tarnation were you kids doing playing in the road like that?" he hollered, trudging over to us. "Didn't you see my truck coming?""I'm s-so sorry sir," I stammered, shaking from the close call. "I w-was trying to get our snowman's h-head out of the road when your truck came. It was a silly thing to do, we know better than to play in the street."His expression softened when he saw how scared we both looked. "Well, you're okay and that's the important thing. Just be more careful, you hear? I'd hate to have hit one of you on this slippery road.""We will, sir, you can count on it!" Xiaohua promised sincerely. We thanked the kind truck driver again, then scurried back to the safety of our front yard.Needless to say, we didn't build any more snowmen that ventured into the street after that. But we had plenty of funmaking snow angels and having a fierce snowball fight instead. When we finally went inside, rosy-cheeked and tired, Mom heated up some nice hot soup to warm our insides."You two look like you've had quite the adventure today," she smiled, giving us each a mug of warm apple cider."Sure did!" I grinned at Xiaohua. "All thanks to my brave sister who saved me from getting runover by Mr. Truck Driver."Xiaohua blushed but looked pleased at the praise. Mom raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Why, what a story that must be! You'll have to tell me all about it..."And that's the exciting tale of our perilous snowy day misadventures. Being kids can sure lead to some unexpected thrills and dangers sometimes - but that's all part of the fun! I'll never forget the time my sister became my real-life hero. Staying out of the road is probably a wise idea from now on though!篇5The Giant Peach AdventureHi there! My name is Lily and I'm 8 years old. I just read this awesome story called "James and the Giant Peach" and I can't stop thinking about it! It's about this poor little boy namedJames who gets sent to live with his mean aunts after his parents get eaten by a rhino (how crazy is that?). But then, some magic happens and he ends up living inside a huge peach with all these cool human-sized insects as his friends! Can you imagine how wild that would be? Waking up one day and suddenly your whole world is the inside of a massive peach, and you're hanging out with a wise old Grasshopper, a sleepy Centipede, a funny Earthworm, and all these other talking bugs? I would be so excited and a little bit scared too!In the story, the peach gets picked by some cloud people and starts rolling away, taking James and the insects on the most epic adventure. I wished I could hop inside that peach and join them! We could all be best friends. I'd love to have a giant Ladybug as my buddy to fly around with. And a Silkworm who could make us cool silk hammocks to chill in. Maybe the Centipede could teach me some cool bug facts too.Their journey across the ocean sounds both amazing and terrifying. Imagine looking out and just seeing endless blue waters in every direction! No land, no people, just you and your peach buddies floating along. Although I bet it got pretty boring after a while with nothing to do. Maybe James and I could havepeach pit throwing contests or make up fun bug comedy sketches to perform! But then they ran into that crazy rhinoceros and started getting attacked! A huge angry rhino charging at your peach home? No thank you! I'd be hiding under the Centipede's hundreds of legs, shaking like a leaf. Although with my new awesome insect friends by my side, I guess we could have formed a buggy battle plan to scare that big meanie off. After that, they finally made it to New York City and crash landed in the middle of everything! Could you imagine a giant peach just smashing down onto the streets? People would be running around screaming and the whole city would be covered in peach goo. Yuck! But also kind of funny if you think about it.James and the bugs probably had to sneak around the city looking for food and places to stay. I bet the Centipede made a great lookout to detect any mean humans coming their way. And the Earthworm could have dug them underground shelters to hide in. As for me, I'd try to find a nice kid my age who could secretly give us supplies and become our human friend on the outside.Eventually, James gets rescued and goes off to live with some nice people in a big house. But I really hope he found away to take his peach buddies with him! They had been through so much together, it would be so sad if they got separated forever. Maybe the bugs could live in his backyard and he could visit them every day. We could have pretend tea parties and they could tell me all about their crazy adventure across the sea.Or maybe, just maybe, that peach wasn't the end of the magic for James. What if he found another piece of glowing green stuff that made something else huge? Like a massive apple or watermelon that they could all live inside together? Then they could just roll around going on one fun mini-adventure after another! Fighting bad guys, seeing new cities, making more funny bug friends along the way. Now that would be the best life ever!Anyway, those are just some of my thoughts after reading that super cool book. If you haven't read "James and the Giant Peach" yet, you totally should! It's an amazing tale that'll have you wishing you could shrink down and join the adventure yourself. Who knows, maybe you'll open your door one day and find a peach the size of a house waiting to whisk you away!篇6A Magical New Year's EveIt was New Year's Eve and I was so excited! My parents had told me we were going to have a special family celebration to ring in the new year. I could hardly sit still as we got ready."When are we leaving? What are we doing? Can I open just one present early?" I bounced around asking a million questions as my mom and dad got our stuff together. Finally, it was time to go. We went outside and...there was a huge hot air balloon waiting for us in the yard! I couldn't believe my eyes. "We're going for a hot air balloon ride?!" I exclaimed. Mom and Dad just smiled as we climbed into the big wicker basket. The balloon slowly began to inflate as hot air was blasted into it. Soon we were rising up into the sky, drifting up and away from our house. I looked down in awe at the twinkling lights of the neighborhood below. It was such an amazing view!As we continued to ascend higher and higher, I noticed the air was getting colder. "I'm glad I wore my warm jacket," I said, pulling it tight. Mom nodded and passed me a thermos of hot chocolate to sip.We sailed along, watching the countryside pass below us. I saw farms, forests, highways, all looking so tiny from way up here. The higher we went, the more I could see - small towns, winding rivers, and eventually the twinkling lights of the big city in the distance.Suddenly, bright colors began to appear in the sky ahead of us. "Look, fireworks!" Dad pointed out excitedly. As we drifted closer, I could see they weren't ordinary fireworks at all. The colors were swirling and dancing in mesmerizing patterns and shapes. Dolphins leapt through the air, trees seemed to sprout and grow from nothing, and dragons chased their long tails in vivid streaks."What is that?" I asked, utterly transfixed by the incredible lightshow."Magic fireworks," Mom smiled. "This is a special New Year's Eve celebration that happens once a year when the old year meets the new. The fireworks are enchanted to put on an amazing show."A massive phoenix exploded into the sky in front of us, its radiant wings stretched wide. We sailed right towards it, passing straight through the middle of the fiery bird. I gasped, but the heat didn't burn at all. Instead, a warm breeze briefly ruffled my hair carrying the sweet scent of flowers. For the next hour, we floated along watching the unbelievable kaleidoscope of magical fireworks unfold across the sky. Whimsical landscapes took shape and faded away in streams of light and color. At one point, an entire herd of unicorns charged across the heavens, their swirling manes and tails shimmering like rainbows. As midnight approached, the finale began. The entire sky above and around us transformed into an intricate tapestry portraying scenes of the year gone by. Major events, holidays, trends, and pop culture moments from the past 12 months were all woven together in a breathtaking display of lights and motion.I tried to take it all in, laughing at the funny parts and feeling warm nostalgia for memories from earlier in the year. When the tapestry faded, a shower of shooting stars rained down around us ushering in January 1st. I watched with a smile, glad to have experienced this incredible celebration with my family. Then the first rays of sunlight began to peek over the horizon, promising the start of a brand new year filled with possibilities and magic yet to come.We eventually descended back to the ground as the sky turned brilliant shades of pink, purple and orange. Though I was sad for the enchanting night to end, I knew I had been part ofsomething truly special and made memories I would never forget."Can we do this again next year?" I asked eagerly as we climbed out of the balloon basket.Mom and Dad exchanged a wink. "It's a date," Dad replied with a grin. I beamed back, hardly able to wait for our next magical New Year's Eve adventure.。

完整的短文。

Pumpkin(南瓜) carving at Halloween is a family tradition. We visit a local farm every October. In the pumpkin field, I compete with mythree brothers and sister to seek out the biggest pumpkin. My dad has a rulethat we have to carry our pumpkins back home, and as the eldest child I have anadvantage—I carried an 85-pounder back last year.
This year, it washard to tell whether my prize or the one chosen by my 14-year-old brother, Jason, was the winner. Unfortunately we forgot to weigh them before taking out theirinsides, but I was determined to prove my points. All of us were hard at workat the kitchen table, with my mom filming the annual event. I’m unsure now whyI thought forcing my head inside the pumpkin would settle the matter, but itseemed to make perfect sense at the time.
With the pumpkinresting on the table, hole uppermost, I bent over and pressed my head againstthe opening. At first I got jammed just above my eyes and then, as I went onwith my task, unwilling to quit, my nose briefly prevented entry. Finally I managedto put my whole head into it, like a cork(软木塞)forced
into a bottle. I was able tostraighten up with the huge pumpkin resting on my shoulders.
My excitement wasshort-lived. The pumpkin was heavy. “I’m going to set it down, now,”I said, and with Jason helping to support its weight, I bent back over the table togive it somewhere to rest. It was only when I tried to remove my head that I realizedgetting out was going to be less straightforward than getting in. When I pulledhard, my nose got in the way. I got into a panic as I pressed firmly againstthe table and moved my head around trying to find the right angle, but it was nouse. “I can’t get it out!”I shouted, my voice sounding unnaturally loud in theenclosed space.
