后面,文章

Walk into almost any supermarket or corner store in North America and you will see potato chips. North Americans are the biggest consumers of potato chips, but people in many other parts of the world gobble them up too.

Do you know where this very popular snack food comes from? One day, almost 150 years ago, a chef in a restaurant in New York was preparing popular food—French fries. A customer in the restaurant didn’t like the French fries, because they were too thick. The chef cut some potatoes into thinner slices and fried them. The waiter brought them to the customer. The customer tasted them and asked to see the chef because he was still not satisfied.

The customer complained loudly about chips again. The chef became very angry because the customer was so rude. He decided to play a trick on the customer. He cut some potatoes so thin that the customer wouldn’t be able to pick them up with his fork. However, the customer loved the new chips, and soon other customers wanted them too.
