W:I also want to have a car, but my father says I’m too young.

M: Yeah, that’s true.You’ll have to wait till you’re twenty.

M: Don’t you usually leave for the airport at four o’clock?

W: Yes. I usually do.

M: Well, why are you leaving so early?

W: It’s going to snow, so I have to leave half an hour earlier.

M: You look very busy. Can I give you a hand?

W: That would be great. I’m cleaning the house bec ause my friend is coming for coffee.

M: OK, what can I do?

W: Could you do the vacuuming? The vacuum cleaner is over there.

W: Can I help you, sir?

M: Yes, please. Tony and Rose, my son and daughter, bought this watch fo r their mother’s birthday, but it doesn’t work.

W: May I have a look, please?

M: Here it is.

W: Ken wants to know if he can go with us to the party.

M: Yes? But this morning, he said he would go by himself.

W: That’s typical of Ken. We can give him a lift.

W: Hello, Mr. Smith. This is Ellen speaking.

M: Who? Just a minute. Let me turn down the TV. Who? Oh, Ellen. I can hear you now, not well though.

W: I’ve been delayed here.The plane won’t take off because of the fog,and I’d like to put off our meeting till Thursday at the same hour, if it is convenient for you.

M: Sure. That will be all right.

W: Oh, that’s great. Could you get in touch with my cousin, Alfred Blake, at 26 Brown Street and tell him that I won’t be able to attend his pa rty tomorrow because of the delay?

M: Certainly, with pleasure.

W: He has a phone, but I can’t remember the number right now. Thank you ever so much.

M: You are welcome.

W:I’ll be seeing you on Thursday. Good-bye.

M: Good-bye.

W: Hello, Mr. Wood. Where have you been these days?

M: Oh, I made a journey to some Asian countries, for example, China, India, Singapore and Indonesia.

W: Then you must have had a good time.

M: Of course. I especially enjoyed myself in China, for when I arrived there, China was celebrating the Spring Festival.

W: Does China celebrate the Spring Festival in a variety of ways?

M: You’re right. On a cold winter morning I went to the Longtan Temple Fair held in a city park with my family. I spent the day eating local foods, watching traditional performances and, most importantly, sharing happiness with my family members. During my stay in Hong Kong, I also visited the Hong Kong Disneyland. What a lot of people there were!

W: How I envy you!

M:I am sure you will one day take the same journey.

W: Yes, I’m looking forward to that.

M: Excuse me, can you help me?

W: Of course. What can I do for you?

M: Can you tell me how I can get to the Excelsior Hotel from here?

W: The Excelsior? Let me see, that’s in the city, right?

M: Yes, it is. On forty-third Street, just off Eleventh Avenue.

W: Well, you can take a bus to the city. Just go out the front door of the terminal and cross the street. There is a sign that says,“Airport City bus.”Ot herwise, you can take a taxi. You can catch one right in front of the terminal.

M: Thank you. Oh, do you know how much the bus fare is?

W: It’s five dollars. A taxi runs about fifteen to twenty dollars.

M: I’d better take a bus then. How often does the bus run?

W:I think you just missed one. There is a timetable prin ted on the sign outside. I think that the buses run every half hour or so.

M: On second thought, I’d better take a taxi.I have a lot of luggage and it’s late. Thank you! (Text 9)

M: Can you tell me how to get to the Music Building from here? I have a lecture to attend there.

W: Oh, are you new here?

M: Yes, I just got here last night.

W: Well, to go to the Music Building, you have two choices. If you want to go right now, you can walk straight down this street until you’re past a post office, and then turn right. The Music Building will be straight ahead.

M: How long will it take to get there?

W: About twenty minutes.

M: What’s my other choice?

W: If you don’t mind waiting around for a while, you can take the shuttle bus. T he bus only takes about five minutes to get ther e.

M: But I have to wait for the bus?

W: That’s right.

M: Well, I guess I might as well walk.
