Basically, it's a class that teaches you English in a way that lets you share ideas with students from all around the world. Instead of just memorizing word lists, you actually use English to communicate real thoughts and learn about different cultures. How awesome is that?In International Academic English, the teachers don't just stand up front droning on all class. They have us work in groups, give presentations, and even do video calls with partner classes in other countries. Last semester, my group had to research environmental issues and then present our ideas to a class in Australia. It was so much fun learning about the Great Barrier Reef from the other students! One of my favorite units was on discussing and analyzing literature from different cultures. We read awesome books from places like India, Nigeria, and Mexico. Then we had to write essays comparing and contrasting the themes to what we'reused to reading. My writing definitely improved a ton after getting feedback from the teacher and partner students abroad.Another amazing part of the class is getting exposure to so many accents and varieties of English. The teachers make an effort to incorporate lessons and materials from England, Australia, India, Singapore and other places where English is an official language. By hearing all these different accents, you become comfortable understanding all the diverse ways people speak English around the globe. We even learned about giving academic presentations and how to engage an audience when publicly speaking in English. Those skills will be super useful when we get to higher education levels and careers. I actually had to give a 10-minute presentation on the history of video games to a partner classroom in Seoul - I was pretty nervous at first but ended up having a blast!Overall, International Academic English is definitely the most useful and engaging English course I've ever taken. Instead of just doing grammar drills, we spend class time actively using English to explore academic topics and exchange ideas with students worldwide. We get exposed to such a rich variety of cultures, accents, and ways of expressing oneself. If you want to truly master English while learning about awesome subjects from a global perspective, you have to sign up for this class. Who wants to spend English class just reading boring stories when you could be discussing the latest astrophysics discoveries with a friend in Tokyo? Not me! International Academic English is where it's at if you're a kid who loves learning exciting new things. Don't miss out - this class is an incredible opportunity to expand your English skills and mind!篇3International Academic Exchange English: A Fun Way to Learn!Hi there, my friends! My Awesome Adventures in LearningEnglish is the coolest language ever! It's like a special code that lets you talk to people from all over the world. In my English class, we don't just learn boring grammar rules and vocabulary lists. Oh no, siree! We go on exciting adventures that take us to different countries and cultures. It's like having a magical passport to explore the globe without ever leaving our classroom! Our teacher, Mrs. Smith, is the coolest. She's like a fun explorer who guides us through all these amazing journeys. One day, we might be learning about the United Kingdom and practicing our British accents by saying things like "Cheerio, old chap!" and "Would you like a spot of tea?" The next day, we could be transported to Australia, learning about their unique slang words and trying to talk like a true Aussie mate. But it's not just about accents and slang. We also learn so much about different cultures and traditions. Like that time we celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights in India. We made colorful rangoli patterns on the floor and learned about the story of Rama and Sita. Or when we explored the fascinating world of Japanese anime and manga, trying our hand at drawing our own characters and learning a few Japanese phrases like "kawaii" (cute) and "arigatou" (thank you). One of my favorite adventures was when we learned about the ancient Maya civilization in Central America. We built miniature pyramids out of blocks and practiced writing our names using their hieroglyphic symbols. It was like stepping back in time and becoming Indiana Jones for a day!But English class isn't just about learning fun facts and cool traditions. We also get to practice our speaking and writing skills in really creative ways. Sometimes, we have to imagine we're tour guides giving a presentation about a famous landmark, like the Eiffel Tower or the Great Wall of China. Other times, we write stories or poems inspired by the different cultures we've explored. And let's not forget about the food! Whenever we visit a new country or region, Mrs. Smith brings in traditional snacks and treats for us to try. We've tasted everything from French croissants to Mexican churros to Japanese mochi. It's like taking a delicious trip around the world without ever leaving our classroom!篇6My Awesome English Class for Talking to Friends Around the WorldHi there! My name is Timmy and I'm 10 years old. I go to Oakwood Elementary School and I love my English class this year. It's so much fun! Let me tell you all about it.Our teacher, Mrs. Robertson, told us on the first day that this wasn't going to be a regular English class. She said we were going to learn how to make friends from other countries and learn about their cultures and customs. How cool is that?Mrs. Robertson said the official name for our class is "International Academic Exchange English." That's a big fancy name, but it just means we're learning English so we can talk to students from around the world and share ideas. The best part is we actually get to meet kids from other countries over video chat!So far, we've met students from Japan, Mexico, Egypt, and South Africa. Each time, we practiced introducing ourselves and asking them questions about their home countries using the English we've learned. Some of the Japanese students even taught us a few words in their language. I learned how to say "hello" - it's "konichiwa!"In our class, we don't just learn vocabulary and grammar like lots of English classes. We learn way more practical stuff for actually communicating across cultures. Like how differentcultures have different customs when greeting people or sharing meals. We learned that in some countries, it's rude to look someone older right in the eye when first meeting them.Mrs. Robertson makes sure we learn all the unique expressions and slang that kids our age use in English too. That way when we chat with students from London or Toronto, we can really relate to how they talk. Last week, we had a hilarious time learning classroom jokes and riddles that kids tell each other. But we don't just video chat with other classes. Sometimes, we play interactive language games or work on group projects together online. A few weeks ago, we collaborated with a French class on designing these really neat digital storybooks teaching basic English phrases. The students in France illustrated the pages and we wrote the text. Our storybooks turned out awesome!Mrs. Robertson says the big goals of our class are to build our English communication skills for the global community and to foster curiosity and respect for other cultures from a young age. Through all our activities exchanging perspectives with students overseas, I'm definitely becoming way more interestedin learning about how people in different parts of the world live and think.I'll admit, at first I thought learning English just to talk to other kids over video would be kind of boring. Was I ever wrong! This class opens up the whole world to us. We're making real friends and connections globally. In fact, my reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities have improved a ton.My favorite part is seeing how English gives us a "common language" to bridge differences between cultures. Even if two people's native languages are totally different, we can communicate so many ideas just through the English we're learning together. It's like unlocking a secret code to understanding each other better.Mrs. Robertson says in the future when we're older, having strong cross-cultural communication skills will be a huge advantage. Maybe I'll get to study abroad, compete in an international science fair, or even get a job working with people from all over the world someday. Whatever I end up doing, this class is giving me an amazing head start.I just love my International Academic Exchange English class! Every day is a new adventure where I get to virtually visit a different country and make new friends across the globe. Whilewe're just 10 years old, we're becoming true "world citizens" learning how to share our stories and appreciate the stories of others. English is like a magic window into engaging with so many diverse perspectives out there. So that's my experience in this super awesome English class. If your school offers a class like this, I highly recommend signing up. You'll have a blast learning how to connect with students internationally while turbocharging your English skills. Who knows, maybe I'll even video chat with your class someday and we can totally become friends! How cool would that be?。

Mr. Chairperson, Mr. Director-General, Distinguished Members of the ILO‘s Governing Body and Friends, Ladies and Gentlemen, Good Morning! I welcome this opportunity to be here today, with an organization which in many ways belongs to all of us workers. I can think of, in fact, no other international body that one can claim as one’s own so unambiguously.
The canvass of the Symposium is very large. I will focus on one aspect of gender inequality that centrally affects millions of women as workers but perhaps have failed to receive the attention they deserve. That is the inequality about gender-biased social perceptions and social norms.
I have also had a longstanding formal association with the ILO. Many of my early pieces on women and technological change and on land rights were published by the ILO, as well as was the work of many other scholars. It is therefore a pleasure for me to be here on this important symposium.
词汇:unambiguously [ˌʌnæm‘bɪɡjʊrslɪ] adv.
词汇:symposium [sɪmˈpoziəm] n.
Gender ideology is embedded in social perceptions and social norms. Although difficult to quantity, these can affect economic outcomes for women in virtually every sphere, be it property rights, employment or household allocation.
词汇: divergence [daɪˈvə:dʒəns] n.
Within the family perceptions guide intra-family allocations. For example, who gets what is often justified by referring to a person's contributions or needs. As we know, women's contributions are often undervalued because many do home-based unwaged work which is less "visible" in physical and monetary than wage work outside the home.
Take perceptions: there is often a divergence between a person's actual abilities, contributions and needs, and perceptions about these. In the labour market, gender, like race, often defines perceptions about abilities and can lead to discriminatory hiring and pay practices.
