万圣节带翻译的英文介绍Halloween (万圣节)In many countries around the world, the 31st of October is a day of spooky fun and excitement. This is the day when people celebrate Halloween, a festival with ancient roots and a unique blend of traditions. Let's dive into the magical world of Halloween and explore its customs and symbols, all while providing translations for some key terms in English.History and Origins (历史与起源)The origins of Halloween can be traced back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked the end of summer and the beginning of winter. On this day, the Celts believed that the spirits of the dead would return to Earth and cause mischief. To ward off these spirits, they would light bonfires and wear costumes. This tradition eventually evolved into what we now know as Halloween.Trick-or-Treating (不给糖就捣蛋)One of the most popular Halloween traditions is trick-or-treating. Children dress up in costumes and go from door to door, knocking and saying, "Trick or treat!" In exchange for this playful threat, they receive candy or other treats. It is believed that this tradition originated from the ancient practice of leaving food and offerings for roaming spirits.Jack-o'-lanterns (南瓜灯)Jack-o'-lanterns are a recognizable symbol of Halloween. Traditionally, turnips or potatoes were hollowed out and carved with eerie faces to wardoff evil spirits. However, the pumpkin became the popular choice in North America due to its abundance and easier carvability. These carved pumpkins, with a lit candle inside, create an eerie glow and are often placed on doorsteps or windows to welcome trick-or-treaters.Costumes and Dressing Up (穿梭妆)On Halloween, people of all ages dress up in costumes. Whether it's as a superhero, a spooky creature, or a famous character, costumes allow individuals to transform themselves into someone or something else. This tradition not only adds to the festive atmosphere but also gives people the opportunity to showcase their creativity. It's not uncommon to see both children and adults participating in costume contests during Halloween parties.Haunted Houses and Parties (鬼屋与派对)During Halloween, haunted houses and parties are organized to create a spine-chilling experience. Haunted houses are often adorned with spooky decorations and filled with actors dressed as ghosts, vampires, and other frightening creatures. They aim to offer a thrilling and terrifying adventure for those brave enough to enter. Halloween parties, on the other hand, provide a more lighthearted atmosphere with music, dancing, and costume contests, allowing people to socialize and enjoy the holiday.Traditional Food and Treats (传统食品与小吃)Just like any other festival, Halloween has its own traditional foods and treats. In many English-speaking countries, special treats like caramel apples, candy corn, and pumpkin pie are prepared and enjoyed during this time. These sweets add to the festive spirit and are often shared among friends and family at gatherings or given out to trick-or-treaters.Translations (翻译)Here are some key terms related to Halloween with their respective translations:1. Halloween - 万圣节 (wàn shèng jié)2. Trick or treat - 不给糖就捣蛋(bù gěi táng jiù dǎo dàn)3. Jack-o'-lantern - 南瓜灯(nán guā dēng)4. Costume - 服装/扮装(fú zhuāng / bàn zhuāng)5. Haunted house - 鬼屋(guǐ wū)6. Pumpkin - 南瓜(nán guā)7. Candy - 糖果(táng guǒ)8. Ghost - 鬼魂(guǐ hún)9. Vampire - 吸血鬼(xī xuè guǐ)10. On that day, Debby spent an hour describing this American festival for u s, such as “trick or cheat”, pumpkin and even, she took a pumpkin with her. First she took out a finished pumpkin lantern. That was really beautiful and ugly, we liked it so much. Then she taught us how to make a pumpkin lantern by ourselves. It began as a Celtic end-of-summer festival during which people felt especially close to deceased relatives and friends. For these friendly spirits, they set places at the dinner table, left treats on doorsteps and along the side of the road and lit candles to help loved ones find their way back to the spirit world.Today's Halloween ghosts are often depicted as more fearsome and malevolent, and our customs and superstitions are scarier too. We avoid crossing paths with black cats, afraid that they might bring us bad luck. This idea has its roots in the Middle Ages, when many people believed that witches avoided detection by turning themselves into cats. We try not to walk under ladders for the same reason. This superstition may have come from the ancient Egyptians, who believed that triangles were sacred; it also may have something to do with the fact that walking under a leaning ladder tends to be fairly unsafe. And around Halloween, especially, we try to avoid breaking mirrors, stepping on cracks in the road or spilling salt. But what about the Halloween traditions and beliefs that today's trick-or-treaters have forgotten all about? Many of these obsolete rituals focused on the future instead of the past and the living instead of the dead. In particular, many had to do with helping young women identify their future husbands and reassuring them that they would someday--with luck, by next Halloween!--be married. In 18th-century Ireland, a matchmaking cook might bury a ring in her mashed potatoes on Halloween night, hoping to bring true love to the diner who found it. In Scotland, fortune-tellers recommended that an eligible young woman name a hazelnut for each of her suitors and then toss the nuts into the fireplace. The nut that burned to ashes rather than popping or exploding, the story went, represented the girl's future husband. (In some versions of this legend, confusingly, the opposite was true: The nut that burned away symbolized a love that would not last.) Another tale had it that if a young woman ate a sugary concoction made out of walnuts, hazelnuts and nutmeg before bed on Halloween night, she would dream about her future husband. Young women tossed apple-peels over their shoulders, hoping that the peels would fall on the floor in the shape of their future husbands' initials; tried to learn about their futures by peering at egg yolks floating in a bowl of water; and stood in front of mirrors in darkened rooms, holding candles and looking over their shoulders for their husbands' faces.Other rituals were more competitive. At some Halloween parties, the first guest to find a burr on a chestnut-hunt would be the first to marry; at others, the first successful apple-bobber would be the first down the aisle.Of course, whether we're asking for romantic advice or trying to avoid seven years of bad luck, each one of these Halloween superstitions relies on the good will of the very same "spirits" whose presence the early Celts felt so keenly. Ours is not such a different holiday after all! 11lanterns, vampires and haunted houses. But do you know the origin of Halloween? Why does it fall on 31 October? What kind of festival is it? Why is it so creepy?Halloween dates back to a Celtic festival called Samhain. November 1 is the new year of the Celts, who lived in Europe more than a thousand years ago. This is the day which marked the end of summer and harvest. The Celts believed that on the night of October 31, ghosts of the dead would return to earth. The Celts celebrated Samhain by dressing up in costumes with animal heads and having bonfires. Many Celts settled in Britain and Ireland, where the festival became popular. Those who moved to America took the tradition with them.Nowadays, most people celebrate Halloween but only for fun. They are not worried about ghosts. Kids in America will dress up as devils or angels and will go from house to house calling "Trick or treat", playing mischievous tricks and getting sweets. Americans spend more money on Halloween than Christmas! In 2005, more than HK$45 billion was spent on Halloween. And HK$15 billion of that was spent on candy aloneKids in Britain also dress up at Halloween. They visit houses, sing songs or tell a joke to get sweets. Many go to Halloween parties and play games like "ducking for apples". You must pick up an apple in water but you can only use your mouth. Try it! 12Halloween always falls on 31 October. It is a holiday for children. On that day, children always wear fancy clothes and masks. And then, they go from house to house to say "Trick or Treat", so that people will treat them with candies. If they don’t receive any candies, they'll play a trick on people. But sometimes if the people are going out, when the children come, they'll put the candies in a carved pumpkin lanterns. Children will take the candies themselves. All of the children enjoy this holiday very much. 13It is hit by in the children eye , is is a festival being full of the mysterious color. So he was sent to hell. But down there he played tricks on the Devil (Satan), so he was kicked out of Hell and made to walk the earth forevercarrying a lantern.Well, Irish children made Jack's lanterns on October 31st from a large potato or turnip, hollowed out with the sides having holes and lit by little candles inside. And Irish children would carry them as they went from house to house begging for food for the village Halloween festival that honored the Druid god Muck Olla. The Irish name for these lanterns was "Jack with the lantern" or "Jack of the lantern," abbreviated as " Jack-o'-lantern" and now spelled "jack-o-lantern."The traditional Halloween you can read about in most books was just children's fun night. Halloween celebrations would start in October in every elementary school.Halloween originated as a celebration connected with evil spirits. Witches flying on broomsticks with ghosts, goblins and skeletons have all evolved as symbols of Halloween. Bats, owls and other nocturnal animals are also popular symbols of Halloween. They were originally feared because people believed that these creatures could communicate with the spirits of the dead.Black cats are also symbols of Halloween and have religious origins as well. Black cats were considered to be reincarnated beings with the ability to divine the future. During the Middle Ages it was believed that witches could turn themselves into black cats. Thus when such a cat was seen, it was considered to be a witch in disguise. All these are popular trick-or-treat costumes and decorations for greeting cards and windows.Black is one of the traditional Halloween colors, probably because Halloween festivals and traditions took place at night.Pumpkins are also a symbol of Halloween. The pumpkin is an orange-colored squash, and orange has become the othertraditional Halloween color. Carving pumpkins into jack- o'-lanterns is a Halloween custom also dating back to Ireland. A legend grew up about a man named Jack who was so stingy that he was not allowed into heaven when he died, because he was a miser. He couldn't enter hell either because he had played jokes on the devil. As a result, Jack had to walk on the earth with his lantern until Judgement Day. So Jack and his lantern became the symbol of a lost or damned soul. T o scare these souls away on Halloween, the Irish people carved scary faces out of turnips, beets or potatoes representing "Jack of the Lantern," or Jack-o-lantern. When the Irish brought their customs to the United States, they carved faces on pumpkins because in the autumn they were more plentiful than turnips. Today jack-o-lanterns in the windows of a house on Halloween night let costumed children know that there are goodies waiting if they knock and say "Trick or Treat!" 15Halloween means Hallows' Evening. It is the evening before All Hallows' Day(now called All Saints'Day),a Christian holiday, celebrated on the November 1st.History traces Halloween back to the ancient religion of the Celtics. The Celts were the ancestors of the present-day Irish,Welsh and Scottish people. In the 5th century BC,in Celtic Ireland, summer officially ended on October 31st.On the November 1st,Celtic peoples celebrated the festival of Samhain, which marked the beginning of winter and the Celtic New Year.Celts thought the division between the natural world and the supernatural world became very thin and all time and space was abruptly suspended on October 31st,and then the spirits of the died would e back and move freely looking for livingbodies to possess.。

Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival ofSamhain (pronounced sow-in).The Celtic peoples lived over 2,000 years ago .In the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Northern France. For the Celtic peoples, the New Year was celebrated on November 1st of every year. This date marked the end of Summer and thebeginning of Winter. This time of year was often associated with human deathThe Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred as the dead searched for the afterlife. Thus, on the night of October 31st, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to Earth tocause trouble. To commemorate the event, people built huge sacred bonfires where animals and crops were sacrificed to the Gods for protection, and to help scare ghosts away. The Celts also wore costumes to disguise themselves, in an attempt to confuse the spirits roaming the Earth.By the A.D. 800’s, the influence of Christianity had spread intoCeltic lands.Pope Boniface IV designated November 1stAll Saints Day, a time to honor Saints and Martyrs. It was known asAll Hallowmas. Thus, October 31st became known as All Hallows Eve, and eventually was shortened to the current day title,Halloween.

Sorry, to quote some movie somewhere, “orange is the new black.”? Or pink.? Or somethin g.

Halloween, also known as All Hallows' Eve, is celebrated on October 31st each year and originated from ancient Celtic traditions. This festival is widely celebrated in Western countries, particularly in English-speaking countries, but it is also gaining attention and recognition in Eastern countries like China. Let's explore the origins and ways in which Halloween is celebrated.

According to historical records, Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic people. They believed that October 31st was the last day of the lunar year, and it was a time when spirits and ghosts would return to the mortal world to seek redemption or possess the living. To ward off evil spirits, theCeltic people would light bonfires, wear frightening masks and costumes, thus dispelling ghosts and resisting evil forces.在中世纪,罗马天主教徒将万圣节(All Hallows' Eve)与万灵节(All Souls' Day)相结合,庆祝这两个节日的时间被称为万圣节季(Hallowmas Season)。

Witches flying on broomsticks with ghosts, goblins and skeletons have all evolved as symbols of Halloween.Bats, owls and other nocturnal animals are also popular symbols of Halloween. The pumpkin is an orange-colored squash, and orange has become the other traditional Halloween color. Carving pumpkins into jack- o'-lanterns is a Halloween custom also dating back to Ireland.A legend grew up about a man named Jack who was so stingy that he was not allowed into heaven when he died, because he was a miser. He couldn't enter hell either because he had played jokes on the devil. As a result, Jack had to walk on the earth with his lantern until Judgement Day. So Jack and his lantern became the symbol of a lost or damned soul.To scare these souls away on Halloween, the Irish people carved scary faces out of turnips, beets or potatoes representing "Jack of the Lantern," or Jack-o-lantern.When the Irish brought their customs to the United States, they carved faces on pumpkins because in the autumn they were more plentiful than turnips.Today jack-o-lanterns in the windows of a house on Halloween night let costumed children know that there are goodies waiting if they knock and say "Trick or Treat!"
