Cao Cao, with his more common name being Mengde（孟德）, was born in Qiao County of Peiguo (沛国谯郡，currently Qiaocheng District in Bozhou). He was born into an eminent family. During the Three Kingdoms Period (25AD-220AD) of Chinese history， he turned Bozhou into his capital and he is generally acknowledged as unifying central China and precluding people from fighting and rebellion. Being a master of both the pen and the sword, Cao Cao was considered as an excellent strategist, politician and poet of late Eastern Han.He was called as the Emperor Wu of Wei dynasty（魏武帝） posthumously .

The “Old Temple” is actually the Tianji Temple within Guoyang’s Tianjing Palace(天静 宫)which is grandiose. The main buildings were initially constructed in 165 AD and later renovated during the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1276) dynasties.

Underground Great Wall

These tunnels are sometimes called the Underground Great Wall. Concieved as form of defence in time of siege, they allowed the defedning army to send troops out behind enemy lines. It was built by the General Cao Cao during the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280AD), reputed as the Underground Great Wall, the brick, clay and wood tunnels stretch around the Dayushou（大隅首，亳 州老城区中心）.
