1.restroom /'restru:m/ n.(美)洗手间;公共厕所

助记rest(v.&n休息)+room(n屋子;房间)=restroom

典例Do you know where the restroom is?你知道洗手间在哪儿吗?

近义bathroom n.浴室;洗手间

联想①男厕标有Gents, Men或Men's room等;

女厕标有Ladies, Women或Women's room等

②toilet可指“公厕”,也可指“私厕”。

③W.C是water closet的缩写形式,现代英语中很少使用

2. stamp /stæmp/ n.邮票;印章

助记一条蛇(s)在它(ta)门(m)前捡到一张破(p)邮票。

3.beside /bɪ'saɪd/ prep.在……旁边;在……附近

助记be(n.是)+side(n.一边)= beside

5. rush /rʌʃ / v.&n.仓促;急促

典例The children rushed out of the school.(动词)孩子们冲出学校。

She was always in a rush.(名词)她总是匆匆忙忙。

6. suggest /sə'dʒest/ ν建议;提议

助记苏(su)哥哥(g)建议最好(best)不选b (去掉b)。

反义west adj.西方的;西部的adv.向西;朝西n.西;西方

a pair of表示“一双;一对;一副”，后面通常跟由相同或相关的两部分构成的单件物品,或两件虽分开但有密切关系的物品,如pants, shorts, glasses, trousers, socks, shoes, chopsticks a pair of 短语作主语时,谓语动词用单数形式

★ A pair of trousers was found under the bed.在床下找到了一条裤子。

【注意】由pair构成的名词短语作主语时,谓语动词的数要与pair的数保持一致。

★ This pair of glasses cost 200 yuan.这副眼镜花了200元。

★ Few pairs of shoes are new for him.对他来说,没有几双鞋是新的。
