One of the best shopping experiences that I can remember was about three years ago when Christmas was coming. I happened to be in the US, taking part in an exchange program. In the past I never celebrated the Christmas Day. But being in a foreign country, I suddenly felt like to spend this holiday with new friends I met here. So I bought a tree and then I went to Rich’s, a department store to buy some exquisite ornaments for the tree.

The saleslady was a middle-aged woman. She was very patient. At first I didn’t know what to buy. There were so many exquisite ornaments that I d idn’t know what to choose. She asked me how big the tree was and gave me many great suggestions. We had a nice talk. When I finally got things done, she took the time to carefully wrap each ornament I bought, about 25 or 30, separately in several layers of tissue paper. I didn’t ask her to do it but once I realized what she was doing, it occurred to me how thoughtful it was and I thanked her. She told me that she treats her customers the way she likes to be treated. I appreciated her thoughtfulness and the whole shopping experience was quite pleasant.
