Something about American Civil War

As we know , America won its independence in 1783.And since then, there has been only one civil war--American Civil Word in its history. Breaking in slavery in the south and capitalism in the north, The Civil Word ,which ended with the victory of capitalism, had had a huge and far-reaching influence on America.

At that time, American slavery still existed. In the South, the land was abundant and suitable for planting and farming, and the planters had to manage their plantations using black African slaves, who were considered the property of the planters and were usually treated cruelly. However, in the North, there was a growing demand for labors to work in factories.

In this case, the northern capitalists suggest that the slavery should be abolished, which violated the interests of the southern slave owners. The two sides had a sharp contradiction about the issue of slavery and this issue became the focus in American politics. In 1859, John Brown tried to abolish slavery by force, but failed. However, this had encouraged American make more efforts on the abolition of slaves . Then 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected President, he was opposed to slavery, promised to do everything he can to abolish slavery .One year later, Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation and abolished slavery, In the summer of 1863, the northern army began to the counter-offensive. In April 1865, the last four years of civil war ended in the victory of the north.

In my opinion, America Civil War was one of the most important nodes in American history, which marked the birth of the United State. It maintained the nation unity, abolished slavery and provided opportunities for the development of capitalism. In a word, American strong today can not be separated from The Civil War.
