①世界博览会是全球大型的非商业性博览会,主要参展者为各国政府和国际组织。
世博会是展示世界各国社会、经济、文化、科技成就和发展前景的舞台,是各国人们交流经验、相互学习、开展合作的盛会。
因此,世博会享有“经济、科技、文化领域内的奥林匹克盛会”之美誉。

①The World Expo is a large-scale, globl, non-commercial exposition. Participants are mainly government of various countries and internatinal organizations. The world Expo constitutes an arena for the participating countries to display the achievements and prospects in their social, economic,culturaland technological sectors and is a grand event where people from various countries gather together to exchange experiences, learn from one another and develop cooperation. It has been reputed as the equivalent of Olympic Games in the fields of economy, technology and culture.
②The World Expo is held every five years. Since its inception in London, England in 1851, the World Expo has been invariably held in developed countries. In 2010, China will be the first develpting country to host the World Expo . China owes its successgul bid for the World Expo 2010 to the international community"s support for and confidence in its reform and opening-up, which gives expression to the expectations the people of theworld place on China's future development.

The prospect of future urban life, a subject of global interest, concerns every nation and its people. During the six-month-long exposition, participants will display urban cibilization to its full extent, exchange experiences in urban development, disseminate advanced notions on cities and explore new approaches to human habitation, life style and working conditions in the 21st century.
④The Chinese government will go to great lengths to turn Expo 2010 Shanghai into a grand international gathering for promoting human progress, technological innovation, cultural exchange and common development. This World Expo will attract about200million people from home and abroad are expected to bisit the welcome visitors from across the wold with a brand-new outlook and present to the world a successful, splendid and unforgettable World
