Teaching Procedure:

Step 1 Read the text and tell others what you know form the text.

Student A: Lily is going to Harbin with her parents.

Student B: Lily doesn’t like cold weather.

Student C: Lily can’t ski.

Student D: Sausages are famous in Harbin.

Step 2 Use the sentence you learn in the context and make conversations with your friends. Student A: Where are you going in your winter vacation?

Student B: I am going to read some stories.

Student A: What else?

Student B: I am also going to do my homework.

Step 3 Read the text and tell the main idea of the text in the students' own words.

Let the students speak in front of the class.

Encourage them not to be shy when they stand there.

Give the students chances to speak loudly in front of the class.

Step 4 Listen and answer

1. Play the audiotape and ask the students to listen carefully.

2. Pick some students out to answer the questions. Explain how to show ways and show some useful phrases.

3. Ask the students what they will do for their parents in their summer vacation.

Step 5 Encourage the students to ask more questions about this part.

1. Divide the class into groups of three or four to finish the task.

2. Ask all of the students to take part in the discussion.

Step 6 Homework

1. Finish off the exercises in the textbook.

2. Go on the next reading in the student book.
