She also mentions that many postgraduates would be like to work as a volunteertutor online. She furthers explains that they live in a place far away from the university which cost them 15 minutes to drive, so they are unwilling to take the tutor’s class on campus, she thinks the online course would be much better.Enclothed Cognition: A systematic influence that clothes have onthe wearer's psychological processes.Listening:An experiment was carried out to illustrate the concept of the terminology. In the experiment, one group of participants wear a doctor’s coat; and the other two groups of subjects not only wear a doctor’s coat, but also their identity is manipulated, they are physician identification group and patient group respectively. The first solution is to drive back home and take it back, but it takes one and a half hours to drive, which is a waste of time and gas money. Another solution is to draw a new one, but she has little time and she’s not sure she is able to paint a better one, because she thinks the old oneis her best performance.Task 6The professor discusses two types of adaption of the plants in the tropical rainforest, which prevents bacteria from growing because of the accumulation of rain. Reasons:He already prepared all to get into business school, so he should notjust abandon it partway through. That would be such a waste of time and money. Will not regret having a business degree. Any higher education ishelpful as you hunt jobs and start your career. In his spare time, he can absolutely continue to learn Music. Maybehe could join a band after graduation and try to be a professional musician.SampleI would give my friend the following suggestions. First of all, I would have a nice conversation with my friend. I would put forward a couple questions that I concern to see if he really had thought it through, like what is the biggest trouble of learning business, how much do youlove music, do you have any plans for future career, things like that. If he has made up his mind to do so, I would back him up. Second, I would share my understanding of college education. What you learned in class might not be directly relevant to your job, but the abilities of critical thinking and problem solving could be applied to your future work and life. Once you decide to pursue a major you truly like, please carry on no matter how hard it is, you will pay you back someday.Task 2:Some people prefer to work alone, other prefer to work with others. Which do you prefer? Explain your answer in details.答题思路:work alone1.much more effective than group study.2.group discussion is too time-consuming, because we need time to gather up. It takes time for transportation too. There is a huge chance that the discussion will soon get off track.Work with othersSampleAs a student, I prefer to study alone for the following reasons. First, individual study is much more effective than group study. For example, I can skip content that I’m already familiar with, or spend as much time as needed on things I don’t quite understand. On the other hand, I don't like doing group studies much, because we need time to gather up. It takes time for transportation too. There is a huge chance that the discussion will soon get off track. People joke around a lot after they get to know each other and become friends.Task 3:The school plans to hold graduation ceremony on the grasslands ofcampus because guests are able to appreciate beautiful view of the school and Jenkins Hall cannot accommodate increasing number of people. The man doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Firstly, he thinks people will focus on the ceremony instead of looking around when it begins.Second, there aren’t too many graduates this year, there will be enough seats available. What’s more, the ceremony will be broadcast live in the student center, let alone some people would love to attend the ceremony in the hall.Task 4:Appeasement behavior means when social animals are facing conflict, the inferior ones yield to the superior ones to seek peace instead of a fight. The professor gave an example of wolves. Wolves live in groups, they hunt and share food together. If a little wolf takes away more food, the brother wolf will threaten the little one. Then the little thing will lie on the ground with all the furs flat, which helps get rid of a war. Task 5:The woman’s problem is she had applied for a dorm on campus, which is less expensive, but she found it’s near a construction site. She has loads of projects to do, and she needs a quiet space. There are two solutions for her. First is to reapply a dorm but she has to pay more. Second is to live here and study in the library, but she wants to finish her assignment at home.Task 6:The professor talks about two ways to make a company’s product unique. The first way is to emphasize the product’s quality in the ad. Say a computer company, when they sell their computer speaker, they stress it enjoys better sound quality and it can distinguish different sound trackin music. The second way is to highlight its features. For example, a pasta sauce company acclaims their sauce are spicier in order to compete in the saturated market. Customers who love spicy food would be appealed to buy their brand.5月30日托福阅读真题回忆:第一篇:考生回忆: 本文主要讨论的是戏剧(theatre)和电影(movie)的区别。

Unless scientists and community leaders directed a worldwide effort to stabilize the decline of local languages, he warned, nine tenths of the linguistic diversity of humankind would probably be doomed to extinction. Krauss’s prediction was little more than an educated guess, but other respected linguists had been clanging out similar alarms. Keneth L. Hale of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology noted in the same journal issue that eight languages on which he had done fieldwork had since passed into extinction. A 1990 survey in Australia found that 70 of the 90 surviving Aboriginal languages were no longer used regularly by all age groups. The same was true for all but 20 of the 175 Native American languages spoken or remembered in the US., Krauss told a congressional panel in 1992.BMany experts in the field mourn the loss of rare languages, for several reasons. To start, there is scientific self-interest: some of the most basic questions in linguistics have to do with the limits of human speech, which are far from fully explored. Many researchers would like to know which structural elements of grammar and vocabulary—if any— are truly universal and probably therefore hardwired into the human brain. Other scientists try to reconstruct ancient migration patterns by comparing borrowed words that appear in otherwise unrelated languages. In each of these cases, the wider the portfolio of languages you study, the more likely you are to get the right answers.CDespite the near constant buzz in linguistics about endangered languages over the past 10 years, the field has accomplished depressingly little. “You would think that there would be some organized response to this dire situation,” some attempt to determine which language can be saved and which should be documented before they disappear, says Sarah G. Thomason, a linguist at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. “But there isn’t any such effort organized in the profession. It is only recently that it has become fashionable enough to work on endangered languages.” Six years ago, recalls Douglas H. Whalen of Yale University, “when I asked linguists who was raising money to deal with these problems, I mostly got blank stares.” So Whalen and a few other linguists founded the Endangered Languages Fund. In the five years to 2001 they were able to collect only $80,000 for research grants. A similar foundation in England, directed by Nicholas Ostler, has raised just $8,000 since 1995.。

The development of technology causes environmental problems. Some people think peopl e should choose a simpler way of life whil e others think we shoul d use technology to solve the problems. Discuss both views and give your own opinions.

There is no doubt that science and technology has been contributing to social progress, along with adverse effects generated on environment. Hence, it is suggested by some that people should live simply with less use of technology. Others, however, believe it is the technology that can be utilized to tackle environmental issues.Admittedly, due to peopl e’s requirement of better and more convenient life, more technologies are invented and ad opted, leading to some environmental issues. Therefore, it is reasonabl e to ask individuals to live a simpl er life to reduce these problems. For example, before the Industrial Revolution, people travelled by carriages, riding horse or on feet. These simpl e travelling methods produced zero emissions and pollution generated after the invention of trains and automobil eswith the use of fossil fuels. Consequently, if peopl e drive less and ride more, fewer fumes are emitted and air quality is likely to be better. In this case, individuals’changes on lifestyle seem more crucial. On the other hand, advanced technol ogy could effectively remedy environmental issues. For one thing, progressive technol ogy can be used to reduce pollutions. Interms of paper manufacturers, to reduce the industrial wastewater, some treatment equipment is install ed to filter poisonous elements before draining into rivers. For another thing, we can create more environmental and recyclable products with the help of technology. Solar energy powered cars are typical examples, which enable people to transform sunlight into power, supplying energy for people’s daily life and production with l ess emissions of carbon dioxides. From my perspective, changing lifestyle and innovating technology to deal with environmental issues are both necessary. Although some environmental problems are triggered under the introduction of technology, people cannot completely abandon current lifestyl e. Making some changes such as riding instead of driving is easier, but we cannot refuse the use of cars need ed for long distance travel. Therefore, innovating technol ogy to facilitate peopl e to make changes and reduce some corresponding problems seems more practical and reasonabl e.。

第一篇先进的探测方法
原文回顾:一些先进的科技和地理知识的运用可以帮助分析和测定一些历史上的情况,每一段都讲了不同的探测方法。

相关背景学习:Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer
The Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) is a satellite that observed the time structure of astronomical X-ray sources, named after Bruno Rossi. The RXTE has three instruments—the Proportional Counter Array, the High-Energy X-ray Timing Experiment (HEXTE), and the All Sky Monitor. The RXTE observed X-rays from black holes, neutron stars, X-ray pulsars and X-ray bursts. It was funded as part of the Explorer program, and is sometimes also called Explorer 69.
RXTE was launched from Cape Canaveral on 30 December 1995 on a Delta rocket, has an International Designator of 1995-074A and a mass of 3200 kg.

Sample answer:
The reading and listening materials have a conflict of opinions about the function of ceramic plates. The writer puts forwards three theories, which are contradicted by the following lecture.
Firstly, the writer claims that the ceramic plates can be used as cooking pans. while the speaker views this issue from an opposite angle. According to him/her, the cooking pan will be black or the color will fade because of high temperature. However, these plates do not show such marks.
Secondly, the author states that the ceramic plates can be served as drums. However, the speaker opposes the writer’s opinion by saying that the sound of ceramic is not pleasant. What’s more, people can use better material as drums, such as animal furs. Why would they use ceramic drums?
Thirdly, the passage argues that ceramic plates are used as mirrors. By contrast, in accordance with the speaker, the reading’s claim doesn’t hold water, only when ceramic plates are filled with water can they reflect images. In this case, people can not see the decorative side. Unlike the mirrors in ancient Greek, people often hold plates vertically.
