The internet has seen tremendous growth since the nineties. This will almost certainly continue, poss

ibly for decades. It is now growing so fast that it is impossible to estimate exactly how many peopl

e use it, but the number o

f users has easily surpassed one billion.

The web originated in the US Department of Defense during the 1970’s as a means of moving data b

etween computers on a network. The software was adopted by academic institutions as a research t

ool during the mid and late 70s and gradually evolved in complexity.
