A strip cartoon called Dick Tracy was popular in American newspapers in the 1930s.Trancy was a very clever police detective invented by Chester Gould.

Readers loved the way Tracy used his brains as well as new technology to catch bad guys .He communicated with other policemen using a two-way wristwatch radio .This device became an example of the latest technology and it became a model for later developments, like mobile phones and especially, of course, wristwatch phones. Similar devices are now used by policemen every day. Readers of the cartoon couldn‟t know then it was showing them something that would soon be reality!

In 1964,Dick Tracy …s wristwatch radio became a two-way wrist TV. It won‟t be long before everybody is able to communicate and go online looking their wrist.

The science fiction film Star Trek started in 1966.There are so many things we didn‟t know about them .but we now take them for granted in our everyday lives. For example, earpieces! Many people use them today when they are driving their cars.

Make Your Own Volcano!

First, _____the flour(6 cups),salt( 2cups),cooking oil(4 table spoons)and water (2cups)together in a big bowl .This is the salt dough .Put the bottle in the saucepan and stick the salt dough to the bottle ,___2__the picture on the

right. This is the volcano ,so form it carefully .Make it look real .Don‟t let anything get into the bottle ,though.

Next,fill the bottle __3 warm water and add a few drops of red food coloring .

Then ,add 6 drops of washing up liquid.

After that ,__4_2 tablespoons of baking soda.

___5___,slowly pour some vinegar into the bottle and stand back quickly.

An interview with …Jennifer Wilkin

Jennifer works in a newspaper .We asked her about her memories of being a teenager.

Did you enjoy being a teenager?

It was mostly OK .but I had some difficulties ,like everyone else,（1） When you ‘re a teenager , you ‘re unsure of yourself.__1__

What was the fashion then?

I was a teenager in the 1980s,and so the clothes were very colorful .I was a fashion rebel, though I always wore black ,and I wore a lot of cheap silver jewelry.__2___

What kind of music did you listen to ?

My tastes were varied,-----I was a classical violinist ,but I listened to punk rock and new wave music . I had all my “weird” tapes ,and I was never without them.___3__

What ‘s your best memory from your teenage years?

I guess it was a trip I took every summer with my youth group. It was a time to travel ,be with close friend ,and be away from my parents __4___

And your worst?
