"How can it be used for good things?How can it discourage bad habits?How can it educate?" Answering those questions begins with a better understanding of how to use media. "When parents are considering what media they might want to select for their children,they can further deliberate what particular moral value is being stressed by the main character,and how the main character is treated because of those actions," she says.For the study,Hahn and her workmates took the main character from a young adultnovel.They wrote the content to reflect the study's focus on moral values.Those stories were shared with about 200 participants between the ages of 10 and 14.This is a favorable range for media research because it's more difficult to introduce the understanding of stories to younger kids,while challenging to hold the attention of older teenagers,who become bored with basicstorylines,according to Hahn.(1)What kind of book helps children develop their own moral values according to the new study? A.A poetry collection.B.A travel guide.C.A storybook.D.A reference book.(2)What does the author try to tell us in Paragraph 2? 安徽省六安市舒城中学2016年高二英语暑假作业19第十九天一.美文晨读A little boy invited his mother to attend his elementary 1 school s first teacher-parent conference 2. To the little boy s dismay, she said she would go. This would be the first time that his classmates and teacher met his mother and he was embarrassed by her appearance. Although she was a beautiful woman, there was a severe scar that covered nearly the entire 3 right side of her face. The boy never wanted to talk about why or how she got the scar.At the conference, the people were impressed by the kindness and natural beauty of his mother despite the scar, but the little boy was still embarrassed and hid himself from everyone. He did, however, get within earshot 4 of a conversation between his mother and his teacher, and heard them speaking."How did you get the scar on your face?" the teacher asked.The mother replied, "When my son was a baby, he was in a room that caught on fire 5. Everyone was too afraid to go in because the fire was out of control, so I went in. As I was running toward his crib 6, I saw a beam coming down and I placed myself over him trying to protect him. I was knocked unconscious7 but fortunately, a fireman came in and saved both of us." She touched the burned side of her face. "This scar will be permanent 8, but to this day, I have never regretted doing what I did."At this point9, the little boy came out running towards his mother with tears in his eyes. If something happens, sit down with your roommate and have a face-to-face conversation. I've seen roommate relationships fall apart because something happens and ,instead of talking to each other, the two start complaining about their roommates behind their backs. 2◇Don't expect to be best friends.Some roommates become the best of friends, and some don't. Don't put pressure on yourself or your roommate, especially when you first meet. 3 And if your roommate doesn't end up being your best friend, don't worry.◇ 4This applies to food, clothes and anything else. If you want to keep a relationship going, show your roommate that you have respect for what is his or hers by asking first. So what do you expect him to say? He'll probably say,' Fine, I'm all right. ‘, but you've put a bug in his ear — maybe now he's not sure. If you are a good friend, you may have seen something in his face, or his walk that he overlooked(忽略) that morning. It starts him worrying a little. First thing you know, he looks in a mirror to see if everything is all right, while you go merrily on your way asking someone else ' How do you feel?'Every question has its time and place. It's perfectly acceptable,for example,to ask ' How do you feel?’ if you're visiting a close friend in hospital. But if the fellow is walking on both legs, hurrying to take a train, or sitting at his desk working, it's no time to ask him that silly question.When George Bernard Shaw, the famous writer of plays, was in his eighties, someone asked him, ' How do you feel?' Shaw put him in his place. 'When you reach my age,' he said, 'either you feel all right or you're dead. '1. According to the author, greetings such as ' How do you feel?' __________.A. show one's consideration for othersB. are a good way to make friendsC. are proper to ask a man in actionD. generally make one feel uneasy2. The question ' How do you feel?' seems to be correct and suitable when asked __________.A. a man working at his deskB. a person having lost a close friendC. a stranger who looks worriedD. a friend who is ill3. The author seems to feel that a busy man should __________.A. be praised for his effortsB. never be asked any questionC. not be bothered(烦扰)D. be discouraged from working so hard4. George Bernard Shaw's reply in the passage shows his __________.A. cheerfulnessB. clevernessC. kindnessD. politeness5. 'you've put a bug in his ear' means that you've __________.A. made him laughB. shown concern for himC. made fun of himD. given him some kind of warningD. Which of the following might be the best title of the passage?A. English-Global Tongue in BusinessB. English-Chinese Business Leaders’ New FashionC. English-The Best Tool in CommunicationD. English-Dominating Factor of Successful Business(2)Coal that is used today first began as trees and plants which lived millions of years ago. In the distant ancient(古代) times, most of the plants and some trees died in the forest because the weather turned cold in autumn and winter, but more plants and trees grew the next spring. Mud and sand brought by the water pressed down the dead trees and plants deep into the earth.As years went by, a new forest grew and took the place of the old ones. This took place many times. By the pressure of the earth, the mud and sand were turned into layers (层) of rock. The dead forests were changed into layers of coal.If you go to a coal mine(矿), sometimes you can see pieces of coal with lines like leaves or grain(纹理) of wood. These are called fossils(化石). They help scientists to know what kind of trees and plants the coal was from.Coal was probably first discovered in China. It was recorded in Marco Polo's book that the ancient Chinese used a kind of black stones to make fires. The very first coal was probably found in the banks of rivers or from hillsides, where it may have easily been washed out by water. As the ancient Chinese found this black stone could be used in making fires, they began to dig for it, and the first coal mines were started.1. The coal we use today __________ trees and plants millions of years ago.A. worked asB. acted asC. were regarded asD. used to be2. The fact that coal mines are usually deep under the earth shows that __________.A. the dead forests were pressed down by mud and sand brought by waterB. the pressure of earth turned the dead forests into rockC. coal mines were formed from the dead forests by the pressure of the earthD. the dead forests were turned into layers of coal3. And they all got the same answer: The sexes(性别) are different, because their brains are different. And this, the scientists say, makes men and women see the world in different ways.Boys, for example, generally are better than girls at mathematical ideas. Boys are also generally better than girls at the kind of hand and eye movements necessary for ball sports. Girls, on the other hand, generally start speaking earlier than boys. And they generally see better in the dark than boys and are better at learning foreign languages.What makes men and women better at one thing or another? The answer is the brain. The brain has two sides connected by nerve(神经) tracks. The left side generally is used for mathematics, speech and writing. The right side is used for artistic creation(创造) and the expression for emotions( 情感). In men and women, different areas in each side of the brain develop differently. In boys, for example, it's the area used for mathematics. In girls, it is the area used for language skills. Another interesting difference is that the two sides of a man's brain are connected by smaller nerves than the two sides of a woman's brain are.1. Which of the following is best to outline(概况) the article?A. Research on the Brain.B. Differences Between Men and Women.C. People's Different Brains.D. My cousin Allen,19years old,was the coolest star football player at the University of Minnesota.I wanted to be just like him.So when Allen asked me to join him on a spring fishing trip in northern Minnesota,I said yes!After planning the trip,we gathered clothes and supplies and then set off on our adventure.We reached the Superior National Forest by early evening.On the way to our campsite,Allen pointed to a small house faraway in one of the mountains,saying that it was the ranger station(护林站)where the foresters worked.A jeep stopped beside the small ranger station.Allen told me that our campsite was in the deep of the forest,really far away from the highway.Only when we made it to our campsite,did I realize that we were really in the middle of nowhere.Somehow I was a bit worried.Luckily,Allen appeared to know all the tricks of an experienced camper.Soon after we gathered enough wood from the forest floor,he started the campfire using only stone and steel,no matches.After a day of travelling,we were very hungry.We ate beef and rice and some soup as well.Exhausted,we crawled into our sleeping bags early.Allen was still talking about his past camping adventures when a sudden wind picked up from the north.The temperature dropped and it began to snow.Allen knew of a way to increase the temperature inside the tent.He dragged a log from the woods,wrapped aluminum foil(铝箔)around the log and then placed it near the campfire.The heat from the fire reflected into the tent.Soon the tent was warm again and thoughts of lake fish filled my dreams.续写要求:1、续写词数应为150左右;2、请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

Her community has faced environmental crisis. Heavy industries continued to move into her community. As a result, her neighbors have had to live with serious respiratory (呼吸的) problems.When she knew a plan to build the nation’s largest trash-burning incinerator (焚化炉) less than a mile awayfrom her high school, she realized she had to take action. The incinerator was being sold wrongly as clean, renewable energy equipment but actually it would be a source of brain-damaging chemicals and would release 200 million tons of greenhouse gases per year, both worse than coal burning. Watford felt she had a responsibility to warn her community to work together to shut this plant down.She co-founded Free Your Voice (FYV),a 10-person student organization devoted to community rights and environmental protection. Together, they decided to start a campaign to take down Energy Answers, the incinerator’s developer. They went door-to-door talking to neighbors and organizing protests.When it was discovered that Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPS) was going to be a customer of Energy Answers, the organization fought with the board and presented their case, urging BCPS to withdraw from the project. BCPS was convinced to cancel their contract, which in turn inspired 22 other customers to do the same. Without any financial gain, Energy Answers had no market to move forward with its plan.Watford continues to work with Curtis Bay residents towards a hospitable living environment. They have a vision for the future which includes building a zero-waste movement, a solar farm, and green jobs. She wants the entire human family to join the fight for a pollution-free environment because survival as a species depends on our joint efforts to take action.4.What caused respiratory problems in Watford’s community?A.Poor medical care.B.Terrible environmental conditions.C.Constant bacterial infection.D.Unbalanced distribution of resources.5.What can be learned from Paragraph 2?A.Watford wanted nothing more than the carrying out of the plan.B.The incinerator was located in a remote area far from residential areas.C.The incinerator was misjudged as a source of pollution.D.Watford was unwilling to escape the responsibility to resist the plan.6.What was the result of their campaign?A.BCPS lost financial support.B.Energy Answers discontinued its plan.C.The investors found new market.D.Many customers revised their contracts.7.What would be the best title for the text?A.A teenage hero against urban pollutionB.A teenage hero fighting for an advanced cityC.A battle for Baltimore’s sky by a teenage heroD.A battle for all human living conditions by a teenage hero(三)The Last Generation is an activist group in Germany, the name implying that our unsustainability will push us to extinction. To force their government into action, some of the group went on a month-long hunger strike in August 2021. It wasn’t a half-hearted effort: several ended up in hospital.But I’d like to take the opposite framing. I think we have the opportunity to be the first generation that leaves the environment in a better state.There are two kinds of optimism: complacent optimism and conditional optimism. Complacent optimism is the feeling of a child waiting for presents. Conditional optimism is the feeling of a child who is thinking about building a tree house, “If I get some wood and nails and persuade some other kids to help do the work, we can endup with something really cool.” The group actually did take bold action, yet I want to address the climate crisis from a different angle.Yes, my framing seems hard to believe. I’ll explain why. Here I’m using the term “generation” loosely. I am from a generation that will be defined by our environmental problems. I was a child when climate change really began. I will see countries move from being almostentirely dependent on fossil fuels to being free of them. I will be 57 when governments hit the “2050 deadline” of reaching net-zero carbon emissions that so many have promised.But, of course, there will be several generations involved in this project. There are a couple above me and a couple below me. And we all need to work together to achieve that.For a conditional optimist, criticism is essential. We need to work through ideas to find the most promising ones. Most innovators have been optimists. But they were also strongly critical: no one would pick apart the ideas of Thomas Edison or Marie Curie more than they did themselves.Don’t look away from the climate crisis that faces us. Let’s face up to it, not from a place of “damage control” but with a clear vision of the future we can build: one that not only stops warming in its tracks but builds a better world for us, all of us, and the species hat we share the planet with.8.Why is The Last Generation introduced?A.To blame them for their action.B.To remind Germany of its duties.C.To discuss the author’s perspective.D.To demand urgent action from everyone.9.What is the core of complacent optimism?A.Belief in kindness.B.Passive expectation.C.Brief satisfaction.D.Love of presents.10.What does the underlined phrase “pick apart” in paragraph 6 mean?A.Turn to.B.Identify with.C.Find fault with.D.Make an assessment of.11.What does the author intend the readers to do?A.Envision and engage.B.Adapt and advance.C.Inspire and Innovate.D.Explore and expand.(四)Lots of kids love video games, In fact they like them so much that they might hear something like this from Mom or Dad. “Enough! Find something else to do!”It can be good advice. Why? Too much of anything is just too much. It’s true that some studies have shown certain video games can improve hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills, and the mind’s ability to process information. But playing too much video games may leadto health problems.It’s hard to get enough active play and exercise if you’re always inside playing video games. And without enough exercise, kids can become overweight.Really overdoing video games also could affect other important things, like friendships and how well a kid does in school, And kids who play violent (暴力的) video games might act more aggressively.But here’s the good news; Playing video games some of the time can be OK. Just choose quality games and limit (限制) screen time — which includes TV, computer, smartphone, tablet, and video game time combined to no more than two hours a day.A good game will be the right one for how old you are. Games are rated like movies and your mom or dadcan help find out which ones you should use If you can choose one that gets you up and moving. that’s even better. 12.According to the second paragraph, playing video games can improve us in ways.A.two B.threeC.four D.five13.Playing too much video games can make you _________.A.active B.cleverC.thin D.fat14.The fourth paragraph mainly tells us _________.A.playing video games can make us smartB.it’s bad to play video games too muchC.playing video games can cause troubleD.it’s good to play video games, with friends15.How long does the writer advise kids to play video games a day?A.At most three hours.B.At least 90 minutes.C.At most two hours D.At least an hour.16.Which is the best title for the passage?A.Are Video Games Bad?B.How Long Can You Play Video Games?C.Can You Choose Right Video Games?D.What Video Games Can You Play?二、七选五(一)Keeping clean is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. 17 You should keep yourself clean as well as your living area, such as your home or apartment. You should also keep clean when you are at work or when you are traveling. 18 Here are some tips to help you.19 Cleaning your body often is an important part of healthy habits. You should try to shower once or twice a week, as showering once a day can dry out your skin. You should also shower after a workout (锻炼) or after spending a hot day outside.Keep your mouth clean. To keep your mouth clean, you should brush your teeth twice a day. 20 Besides, you should get in the habit of gargling (漱口) after meals.Wash your hands. 21 First, wet your hands, turn off the water and keep the soap on your hands for at least 20 seconds. Then wash your hands under clean running water. Finally, dry them.A.Shower often.B.Washing your hair often can help you keep clean.C.Keeping clean helps to prevent illnesses.D.Washing your hands often will keep you healthy and clean.E.Brushing your teeth helps to avoid dental (牙齿的) health problems.F.Clean your face with your own towel.G.How do you keep yourself clean?(二)How to Make Exercise a HabitThe new year is a time when it seems like everyone makes goals to work out and get fit. But by the third week of January, that all seems to go out the window. I’ve seen this happen almost every year: my workout classes are packed with fresh faces. 22 So I will share some tips on how to make exercise a habit, helping you stay healthier in the long run.Focus on the routine and not the resultsThese days it feels like everyone is looking for a quick fix or fast results, particularly whenit comes to health and fitness. 23 Focus on creating and enjoying the habit. Try scheduling your works alongside one of the other routines you already have in place.24Everyone seems to want to set big goals of working out 4 times a week with 60-minute sessions. But realistically, if you’re not used to this, it will just be overwhelming and lead you to quit. Given this, doing workouts even as small as5-10 minutes is a good place to start.Forget the “all or nothing” viewWhen it comes to exercise, the all or nothing approach does not serve you. Say you plan a workout for today, but say things get crazy at work and you miss your scheduled time. Well that doesn’t mean you’ve failed.25 Even if you miss your workout, that doesn’t mean you’ve given up. Just remember your results are from your every effort, not matter how small.Find joy in your workouts26 Don’t let yourself be boxed into a certain type of workout just because it’s trendy or everyone is doing them. A workout that suits you will promote your drive and enjoyment.A.Life happens sometimes.B.Start with mini workoutsC.Build yourself workout time-zoneD.But in reality, it takes time for results to show.E.Explore until you find a workout that feels like fun.F.There is something magical that makes your plan work.G.But after just a few weeks, they return to the regular number of people.(三)If you are making the time to exercise, that is a good thing indeed! With such busy lives, it can be hard to find time to work out. 27 Working out in the morning provides additional benefits other than keeping fit. Here are the reasons:● Your productivity will improve. Exercising makes you more awake and ready to handle whatever is in front of you for the day. 28● Your metabolism (新陈代谢) will get a head start. 29 So if you work out in the mornings, you will get the calorie (卡路里) burning benefits for the whole day.● 30 Studies have found that people who wake up early and exercise sleep better than those who exercise in the evening. Exercise energizes you, so if you exercise at night, it is more difficult to relax and have a peaceful sleep.● 31 If you work out bright and early in the morning, you will be more likely to choose healthy foodthroughout the day. 1.

1、上次课后巩固作业复习;
2、互动探索。
教学建议:
1. 此环节设计时间在15分钟。
2. 让学生准备5分钟左右,先口头表达要点。
只需要简要说明自己观点即可。
