Through Gatsby’s dream to see the disillusion of the American Dream
Abstract:The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott. Fitzgerald, is one of the most classical works that represent the American dream. This essay is going to talk about the disillusion of the American Dream through Gatsby’s money dream, social status dream and love dream. Gatsby pays all his efforts to pursue his dream. Although he achieves his money dream, he still fails in getting the social status and Daisy’s love. Gatsby’s failure of his dream symbolizes the disillusion of the American dream.
Key words: money, social position, love, the American dream, disillusion Outline:

Gatsby, who is pure, romantic and single-minded to pursue his dream, is a symbol of the American Dream. Daisy, who is a symbol of Gatsby’s
dream, turns out to be empty, worldly. This sharp contrast is doomed to Gatsby’s failure. Gatsby’s failure indicates the disillusion of the American Dream.。
