Scarborough FairAcross the rolling hills and verdant meadows, a quaint town nestled by the sea beckons the weary traveler to pause and savor its timeless charm. This is Scarborough, a seaside gem that has captivated the hearts and imaginations of poets, musicians, and dreamers alike. At the heart of this enchanting locale lies the Scarborough Fair, a centuries-old marketplace that has become the stuff of legend. The fair's origins can be traced back to the 12th century, when King John granted a charter to the Archbishop of York, allowing him to hold an annual market in the town. Over the years, this modest gathering of merchants and artisans blossomed into a renowned event, drawing visitors from far and wide to marvel at the dazzling array of wares on display. As the fair's reputation grew, so too did the stories and legends that surrounded it. One of the most enduring tales is that of a young man who, in a bid to win the hand of his beloved, is tasked with a series of seemingly impossible challenges. The lyrics of the Scarborough Fair song, which have been passed down through generations, recountthis poignant tale.In the song, the young man, his heart filled with both hope and trepidation, approaches his love and requests that she perform a series of tasks for him. He asks her to "remember me to one who lives there, she once was a true love of mine." He then goes on to list a series of intricate and seemingly impossible requests, such as sewing a shirt without a seam, washing it in a dry well, and finding a parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. The young woman's response is equally enigmatic, as she agrees to the tasks, but only if the young man can match her in kind. She requests that he "find me an acre of land, betwixt the salt water and the sea strand," and "plow it with a ram's horn, and sow it all over with one pepper corn." The song then fades, leaving the listener to wonder whether the young couple ever managed to overcome the challenges and find their happily ever after. The enduring appeal of the Scarborough Fair song lies in its timeless themes of love, sacrifice, and the quest for the impossible. The lyrics, with their intricate imagery and cryptic references, have captivated audiences for centuries, inspiring countless interpretations and renditions. One of the most famous versions of the song was recorded by Simonand Garfunkel in the 1960s, which helped to introduce the Scarborough Fair legend to a new generation of listeners. The haunting melody and intricate harmonies of their rendition have become synonymous with the song, and have helped to cement its place in the cultural consciousness. But the Scarborough Fair song is not just a musical masterpiece; it is also a testament to the enduring power of the human imagination. The enigmatic challenges and the elusive nature of the young couple's love have sparked countless speculations and theories, with scholars and enthusiasts alike attempting to unravel the song's deeper meanings and symbolism. Some have suggested that the song's references to herbs and natural elements are a nod to the rich tradition of folk magic and herbalism that was once prevalent in the region. Others have interpreted the challenges as metaphors for the trials and tribulations of love, with the young man's requests representing the various obstacles that must be overcome in order to achieve true happiness.Regardless of the specific interpretations, the Scarborough Fair song remains a powerful and enduring testament to the human experience. Its timeless themes of love, sacrifice, and the pursuit of the impossible continue to resonate with audiences across the globe, inspiring new generations of artists, writers, and dreamers to explore the depths of the human experience. And so, as the sun sets over the rolling hills of Scarborough, the echoes of the fair's timeless melodies continue to drift through the air, beckoning the weary traveler to pause and lose themselves in the enchanting world of this legendary marketplace. For within the song's haunting refrains lies the very essence of the human experience – a testament to the power of love, the resilience of the human spirit, and the enduring magic of the human imagination.。

Hale Waihona Puke (Generals order their soldiers to kill) (将军们命令麾下 的士兵冲杀) And gather it all in a bunch of heather 将收割的石 楠扎成一束 (And to fight for a cause they`ve long ago forgotten) (为一个早已遗忘的理由而战) Then she`ll be a true love of mine她就会是我真正 的爱人。 Are you going to Scarborough Fair Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme Remember me to one who lives there 代我向那儿 的一位姑娘问好 she once was a true love of mine 她曾经是我的爱 人。

”明明是恋人间轻巧的调侃,却弥漫着淡淡的惆怅味道:“Are you going to scarborough fair?Remember me to one who lives there. She once was a true love of mine……” 1:Are you going to Scarborough Fair Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme Remember me to one who lives there She once was a true love of mine Tell her to make me a cambric shirt (On the side of a hill in the deep forest green )(绿林深处山冈旁)Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme 芫荽,鼠尾草,迷迭香和百里香(Tracing of sparrow on the snow crested brown)(在白雪封顶的褐色山上追逐雀儿)Without no seams nor needle work 上面不用缝口,也不用针线(Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain) (大山是山之子的地毯和床单)Then she`ll be a true love of mine 然后她就会是我真正的爱人。
