the world in which we live is a very beautiful world. about seven-tenths of the earth is water while three-tenths is land. water is “life food” of our earth.. it runs through mountains and valleys. it forms lakes and seas.

at the mouths of the rivers,fresh water joins the salt water of the sea. here at the mouth of a river, there is very important plant and animal life.

what a beautiful day: the sun is shining and the sky is so blue. the land,

oceans,mountains and rive rs, plants and animals…everything looks bright and gay. the sun gives us light, keeps us warm and makes things grow.

sometimes,white clouds are like ships sailing across the sky.

sometimes, the dark clouds bring us rain or snow. sometimes, after the rain, you can see a very beautiful rainbow across the sky.

ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,

i am chinese. i am proud of being a chinese with five thousand years of civilization behind. ive learned about the four great inventions made by our forefathers. ive learned about the great wall and the yangtze river. ive learned about zhang heng(张衡)and ive learned about zheng he(郑和)．who says the yellow river civilization has vanished(消失)？i know that my ancestors have made miracles(奇迹)on this fertile land and were still making miracles. who can ignore the fact that we have established ourselves as a great state in the world, that we have devised our own nuclear weapons, that we have successfully sent our satellites into space, and that our gnp ranks no. 7 in the world? we have experienced the plunders (掠夺) by other nations, and we have experienced the war. yet, based on such ruins, there still stands our nation----china, unyielding and unconquerable!

i once came across an american tourist. she said, “china has a history of five thousand years, but the us only has a history of 200 years. five thousand years ago, china took the lead in the world, and now it is the us that is leading.”my heart was deeply touched by these words. it is true that were still a developing nation, but it doesnt mean that we can despise (鄙视) ourselves. we have such a long-standing history, we have such abundant resources, we have such intelligent and diligent people, and we have enough to be proud of. we have reasons to say proudly： we

are sure to take the lead in the world in the future again, for our problems are big, but our ambition (雄心) is even bigger, our challenges (挑战) are great, but our will is even greater.

i am chinese. i have inherited (继承) black hair and black eyes. i have inherited the virtues of my ancestors. i have also taken over responsibility. i am sure, that wherever i go, whatever i do, i shall never forget that i am chinese!

this is for my people who just lost somebody, your best friend, your baby, your man or your lady. lift your head to the sky, we will never say bye.

these are words of the song bye-bye. every time when i hear it, i’ll always lose myself in grief recalling the tough time we came through in 2008.

the snow storm, the tibet issue, the obstruction to the olympic torch relay，the earthquake……time da tes back to the day the horrible earth quake occurred in sichuan, tens of thousands of people lost life and families. i’ll never forget those days i sat front of the tv, moved by people never gave up under ruins even there’s little hope to survive. i’ll ne ver forget those days most newspapers and websites were all in black and white. i’ll never forget those days i had my black coat on, writing down my best wishes to the suffering people.

at the same time, i also remember those days my friends abroad told me that they joined in the protest against western world’s bias on china and the fight against the tibetan separatists. i can still remember the day when i went to see the torch relay at hangzhou with heart shaped stickers on cheek. i wore the t-shirt with words light the passion, light the dream . when the torch passed by, we cheered go china, go beijing, sang the national anthem again and again, waving flags, dancing, hugging, clapping. it was the opening ceremony of 2008 beijing olympic games which shocked the whole world and told the entire human yes, we can.

yes, we can, because we are united and brave
