congratulate oneself on “暗自庆幸……”

I congratulated myself that I missed being punished for cheating in the exam.

我暗自庆幸没有因考试作弊被惩罚。

辨析:celebrate 和congratulate

celebrate表示“举行(仪式),庆祝(胜利等), 后面多为节日;

congratulate则强调“道喜,道贺”,后面多为sb.或on sth.。

I congratulated my girl friend on her birthday. 我向女友祝贺生日。

I celebrated her birthday. 我庆祝她的生日。

3. 1) aboard adv. 在船(飞机,火车,公共汽车)上

They went aboard the ship.

2)board n.木板;伙食费 I paid $ 100 a week for room and board

on board在船上;在公共交通工具内

They got on board the train. 他们上了火车。

vt. a)上(船);上(公共交通工具)

Passengers should board the train now.

b)(of an aircraft) to take on passengers (指飞机)接纳乘客

He boarded the bus. 他上了公共汽车。

3)abroad adv.出国;在国外

We hear that he went abroad recently. 我们听说他最近出国了。

His dream of going abroad for further education became a reality.

他出国深造的梦想已成为现实。

We can’t go abroad this year, so we’ll have to content ourselves with a holiday in London.

我们今年不能出国,所以只好在伦敦度假了。

一点注意

abroad是副词,不是名词,因此不能与in, to, at 等介词连用;其前也不用

冠词:

正:He went abroad last year. 他去年出国了。

误:He went to abroad last year.

误:He went to the abroad last year.

abroad 之前虽不能用in, to 之类的介词,但可用介词from:He just came back from abroad. 他刚从国外回来。
