1. What was the cause of the French and Indian War (1753 - 1761)?

Through out colonial period, Britain and France struggled for control of eastern North America. As settlers moved westward, both nations claimed the vast territory between the Appalachian Mountains and the Mississippi River. The struggle became fiercer and finally lead to the outbreak of the French and Indian War (1754 - 1762) .

2. Britain incurred heavy debts, so they passed the Stamp Act. What did the Stamp Act do?

It extended to the colonies the traditional English tax on newspapers, legal documents and other printed matter.

3. In what year and why did the “Boston Massacre” occurred?

On March 5, 1770, the incident occurred. Many American colonies were bitterly and hostile to laws such as the Sugar Act and the Stamp Act. Besides, they feared the new measures reflected a desire by the King to enhance his power. In protest, the colonists organized a widespread boycott of English goods. After that, there was another boycott to the Townshend Acts. As tensions between Americans and British grew, Britain sent troops to Boston and New York.
