英语散文篇一放松自我relaxWhat does it mean to relax? Despite hearing this term thousands of times during the course of our lives, very few people have deeply considered what it’s really about.

When you ask people (which I have done many times) what it means to relax, most will answer in a way that suggests that relaxing is something you plan to do later ?? you do it on vacation, in a hammock1, when you retire, or when you get everything done. This implies, of course, that most other times (the other 95 percent of your life) should be spent nervous, agitated2, rushed, and frenzied3. Very few actually come out and say no, but this is the obvious implication. Could this explain why so many of us operateas if life were one great big emergency? Most of us postponerelaxation until our “in?basket4” is empty. Of course it never is.

Lawyer was very puzzled, after having a chat with them, he got their story. This couple had been quarreling all their 40 over years of marriage nothing ever seems to go right. They hang on because of their children, afraid that it might affect their up-bringing. Now, all their children have already grown up, have their own family, there’s nothing else the old couple have to worry about, all they wanted is to lead their own life free from all these years of unhappiness from their marriage, so both agree on a divorce.Lawyer was having a hard time trying to get the papers done, because he felt that after 40 years of marriage at the age of 70, he couldn’t understand why the old couple would still wants a divorce. While they were signing the papers, the wife told the husband. “I really love you, but I really can’t carry on anymore, I’m sorry.”“It’s OK, I understand.” said the husband. Looking at this, the lawyer suggested a dinner together, just three of them, wife thought, why not, since they are still going be friends. At the dining table, there was a silence of awkwardness. The first dish was roasted chicken, immediately, the old mantook the drumstick for the old lady. “Take this, it’s your favorite.”Looking at t his, the lawyer thought maybe there’s still a chance, but the wife was frowning when she answer. “This is always the problem, you always think so highly of yourself, never thought about how I feel, don’t you know that I hate drumsticks?”Little did she know that, over the years, the husband have been trying all ways to please her, little did she know that drumsticks was the husband’s favorite.Little did he know that she never thought he understand her at all, little did he know that she hates drumsticks even though all he wants is the best for her. That night, both of them couldn’t sleep, toss and turn, toss and turn. After hours, the old man couldn’t take it anymore, he knows that he still loves her, and he can’t carry on life without her, he wants her back, he wants to tell her, he is sorry, he wanted to tell her, “I love you.”He picks up the phone, started dialing her number. Ringing never stops. He never stop dialing. On the other side, she was sad, she couldn’t understand how come after all these years, he still doesn’t understand her at all, she loves him a lot, but she just can’t take it any- more. Phone’s ringing, she refuses to answer knowing that it’s him. “What’s the point of talking now that it’s over. I have asked for it and now. I want to keep it this way, if not I will lose face. “She thought. Phone still ringing. She has decided to pull out the cord.Little did she remember, he had heart problems. The next day, she received news that he had passed away. She rushed down to his apartment, saw his body, lying on thecouch still holding on to the phone. He had a heart attack when he was still trying to get thru her phone line.As sad as she could be. She will have to clear his belongings. When she was looking thru the drawers, she saw this insurance policy, dated from the day they got married, beneficiary is her. Together in that file there’s this note.“To my dearest wife, by the time you are reading this, I’m sure I’m no longer around, I bought this policy for you, though the amount is only $100k, I hope it will be able to help me continue my promise that I have made when we got married, I might not be around anymore, I want this amount of money to continue taking care of you, just like the way I will if I could have live longer. I want you to know I will always be around, by your side. I love you.”Tears flowed like river. When you love someone, let them know. You never know what will happen the next minute. Learn to build a life together. Learn to love each other for who they are,Not what they are.英语优美散文:Touchme.Don’tbeafraidTouch MeTouch Me is a soliloquy(独白)composed by Hank Miller, about the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. also known as “The Wall”. This monument is one of the most visited sites in the city of Washington.-----By Hank Miller(California professional photographer, freelance writer, former Naval Aviator, and a Vietnam veteran)Touch me. Don’t be afraid. I can’t hurt you. Go ahead and touch my smooth surface. Feel the cold, glass-like smoothness and the crevices and lines that make me what I am. Use bothhands if you wish. We are more similar than you dare to believe.Touch my face. Yes, I have a face like yours. It has weathered the centuries as yours has the years. My face portrays my evolution. Yours, the birth and death of a generation. My face has aged like yours as we have endured together the testimony of earth elements.I have eyes like yours. My inscriptions stare out at you as I search for the meaning of why we are here. I look into your eyes and see who you are. Who am I? I was formed millions of years past and now you see the results of my evolution.I can feel your hands and the sweat from your palms flow into the countless combination of the letters that make me. I know you. I have known you since I was able to breathe in the air as my smoothness began to take shape and my color matured along with natural flaws. You have known me since the days when you came to take me from my mother. You cannot hear me. I am static and unmoving. But, I can hear your murmurs and your cries of pain and sadness. Your sons and daughters ask why? There are no answers. I am very old. I have seen everything and I am none the wiser for the pain and suffering and I have witnessed since I rose from the bowels of the earth. I have witnessed the conflict, the death, the civilizations, and the societies that have come before you. Yet I remain mystified about this day.I feel sad yet alive with a purpose. I have come to know those who are now an integral part of the reason for my being here at this place and time. That purpose has become apparent as I stand before you on this day while your brethren gather to witness my reflections and the changes of light that mirror your soul.I am a reflection of you…I am all of you…I am your spirit..I am The Wall.英语优美散文:ToRiskTo laugh is to risk appearing a fool.To weep is to risk appearing sentimental. To reach out for another is to risk involvement. To expose feelings is to risk rejection. To place your dreams before the crowd is to risk ridicule. To love is to risk not being loved in return. To go forward in the face of overwhelming odds is to risk failure. But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing does nothing, has nothing, is nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or love.Chained by his certitudes, he is a slave. He has forfeited his freedom.Only a person who takes risks is free。

1. A Day at the BeachIt was a perfect summer day, with clear blue skies and a gentle breeze blowing. The sand felt warm beneath my feet as I walked along the beach, enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean. Children were building sand castles and splashing in the water, while seagulls flew overhead, searching for food. I found a spot to lay my towel and sat down to relax. The waves crashed against the shore, creating a soothing rhythm. I closed my eyes and listened to the sound, feeling at peace in that moment. The beach was a place of tranquility and joy, a place where the worries of everyday life melted away. I spent the entire day there, basking in the sunshine and swimming in the refreshing ocean. As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the water, I knew it was time to leave. But I made a promise to myself to return to the beach, to experience that same sense of serenity and happiness again.2. The Power of MusicMusic has a unique ability to touch our souls and evoke emotions like no other art form. Whether it's a joyful melody that makes us want to dance, or a melancholy tune that brings tears to our eyes, music has the power to stir something deep within us. It can transport us to different times and places, and connect us with people from all walks of life. There is no language barrier when it comes to music; it speaks to us on a primal level. It has the ability to heal, to comfort, and to inspire. I have personally experienced the transformative power of music in my own life. When I am feeling down, I can always turn to my favorite song and instantlyfeel uplifted. When words fail me, music can express what I cannot put into words. Music is a universal language that has the power to bring people together and create a sense of unity. It is a gift that should be cherished and celebrated.3. The Beauty of NatureThere is something inherently beautiful and awe-inspiring about the natural world. From the vibrant colors of a sunset, to the intricate patterns of a snowflake, nature is full of wonders that can take our breath away. Spending time in nature has a way of grounding us and reminding us of our place in the universe. Whether it's taking a hike through the mountains, or simply sitting in a park and watching the birds, being in nature rejuvenates our spirits and brings us a sense of peace. The beauty of nature is all around us, if only we take the time to notice it. It is a reminder that there is so much more to life than the hustle and bustle of everyday existence. Nature has the power to calm our minds and lift our spirits. It is a source of inspiration and a reminder of the incredible diversity and wonder of the world we live in. Let us not take it for granted, but instead, let us protect and preserve it for future generations to enjoy.

Such an attitude would emphasize sharply the values of life. We should live each day with a gentleness, a vigor, and a keenness of appreciation which are often lost when time stretches before us in the constant panorama of more days and months and years to come. There are those, of course, who would adopt the epicurean motto of “Eat, drink, and be merry,”most people would be chastened by the certainty of impending death. Most of us take life for granted. We know that one day we must die, but usually we picture that day as far in the future, when we are in buoyant health, death is all but unimaginable. We seldom think of it. The days stretch out in an endless vista. So we go about our petty task, hardly aware of our listless attitude towards life. The same lethargy, I am afraid, characterizes the use of our faculties and senses. Only the deaf appreciate hearing, only the blind realize the manifold blessings that lie in sight. Particularly does this observation apply to those who have lost sight and hearing in adult life. But those who have never suffered impairment of sight or hearing seldom make the fullest use of these blessed faculties. Their eyes and ears take in all sights and sound hazily, without concentration, and with little appreciation. It is the same old story of not being grateful for what we conscious of health until we are ill.I have often thought it would be a blessing if each human being were stricken blind and deaf for a few days at some time during his early adult life. Darkness would make him more appreciative of sight; silence would teach him the joys of sound. Now and then I have tested my seeing friends to discover what they see. Recently I was visited by a very good friend who had just returned from a long walk in the woods, and I asked her what she had observed. “Nothing in particular,”she replied. I might have been incredulous had I not been accustomed to such responses, for long ago I became convinced that the seeing see little. How was it possible, I asked myself, to walk for an hour through the woods and see nothing worthy of note? I who cannot see find hundreds of things to interest me through mere touch. I feel the delicate symmetry of a leaf. I pass my hands lovingly about the smooth skin of a silver birch, or the rough shaggy bark of a pine. In spring I touch the branches of trees hopefully in search of a bud, the first sign of awakening Nature after her winter’s sleep I feel the delightful, velvety texture of a flower, and discover its remarkable convolutions; and something of the miracle of Nature is revealed to me. Occasionally, if I am very fortunate, I place my hand gently in a small tree and feel the happy quiver of a bird in full song. I am delighted to have cool waters of a brook rush through my open fingers. To me alush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug. To me the pageant of seasons is a thrilling and unending drama, the action of which streams through my finger tips. At times my heart cries out with longing to see all these things. If I can get so much pleasure from mere touch, how much more beauty must be revealed by sight. Yet, those who have eyes apparently see little. The panorama of color and action fill the world is taken for granted. It is human, perhaps, to appreciate little that which we have and to long for that which we have not, but it is a great pity that in the world of light and the gift of sight is used only as mere convenience rather that as a means of adding fullness to life.Oh, the things that I should see if I had the power of sight for three days! 3One day, an expert in time management was speaking to a group of students and, to drive home a point, used an illustration those students will never forget. As he stood in front of the group of overachievers he said, "OK, time for a quiz." He pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouth jar and set it on the table in front of him. He also produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, heasked, "Is this jar full?"Everyone in the class yelled, "Yes." The time management expert replied, "Really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. He dumped some gravel in and shook the jar, causing pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the spaces between the big rocks. He then asked the group once more, "Is this jar full?"By this time the class was on to him. "Probably not," one of them answered. "Good!" he replied. He reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in the jar and it went into all of the spaces left between the rocks and the gravel. Once more he asked the question, "Is this jar full?""No!" the class shouted. Once again he said, "Good." Then he grabbed a pitcher of water and began to pour it in until the jar was filled to the brim. Then he looked at the class and asked, "What is the point of this illustration?" One eager student raised his hand and said, "The point is, no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard you can always fit some more things in it!""No," the speaker replied, "that‘s not the point. The truth this illustration teaches us is if you don‘t put the big rocks in first, you‘ll never get them in at all. What are the ‘big rocks‘in your life? Time with your loved ones, your education, your dreams, a worthy cause, teaching or mentoring others? Remember to put these big rocks infirst or you‘ll never get them in at all." 4My grandfather died when I was a small boy, and my grandmother started staying with us for about six months every year. She lived in a room that doubled as my father‘s office, which we referred to as "the back room." She carried with her a powerful aroma.I don‘t know what kind of perfume she used, but it was the double-barreled, ninety-proof, knockdown, render-the-victim-unconscious, moose-killing variety. She kept it in a huge atomizer and applied it frequently and liberally. It was almost impossible to go into her room and remain breathing for any length of time. When she would leave the house to go spend six months with my Aunt Lillian, my mother and sisters would throw open all the windows, strip the bed, and take out the curtains and rugs. Then they would spend several days washing and airing things out, trying frantically to make the pungent odor go away. This, then, was my grandmother at the time of the infamous pea incident. It took place at the Biltmore Hotel, which, to my eight-year-old mind, was just about the fancies place to eat in all of Providence. My grandmother, my mother, and I were having lunch after a morning spent shopping. I grandly ordered a salisbury steak, confident in theknowledge that beneath that fancy name was a good old hamburger with gravy. When brought to the table, it was accompanied by a plate of peas.I do not like peas now. I did not like peas then. I have always hated peas. It is a complete mystery to me why anyone would voluntarily eat peas. I did not eat them at home. I did not eat them at restaurants. And I certainly was not about to eat them now."Eat your peas," my grandmother said."Mother," said my mother in her warning voice. "He doesn‘t like peas. Leave him alone."“My grandmother did not reply, but there was a glint in her eye and a grim set to her jaw that signaled she was not going to be 14)thwarted. She leaned in my direction, looked me in the eye, and uttered the fateful words that changed my life: "I‘ll pay you five dollars if you eat those peas."I had absolutely no idea of the impending doom. I only knew that five dollars was an enormous, nearly unimaginable amount of money, and as awful as peas were, only one plate of them stood between me and the possession of that five dollars. I began to force the wretched things down my throat. My mother was livid. My grandmother had that self-satisfied look of someone who has thrown down an unbeatable trump card. "I cando what I want, Ellen, and you can‘t stop me." My mother glared at her mother. She glared at me. No one can glare like my mother. If there were a glaring Olympics, she would undoubtedly win the gold medal.I, of course, kept shoving peas down my throat. The glares made me nervous, and every single pea made me want to throw up, but the magical image of that five dollars floated before me, and I finally gagged down every last one of them. My grandmother handed me the five dollars with a flourish. My mother continued to glare in silence. And the episode ended. Or so I thought. My grandmother left for Aunt Lillian‘s a few weeks later. That night, at dinner, my mother served two of my all-time favorite foods, meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Along with them came a big, steaming bowl of peas. She offered me some peas, and I, in the very last moments of my innocent youth, declined. My mother fixed me with a cold eye as she heaped a huge pile of peas onto my plate. Then came the words that were to haunt me for years."You ate them for money," she said. "You can eat them for love."Oh, despair! Oh, devastation! Now, too late, came the dawning realization that I had unwittingly damned myself to a hell from which there was no escape."You ate them for money. You can eat them for love."What possible argument could I muster against that? There was none. Did I eat the peas? You bet I did. I ate them that day and every other time they were served thereafter. The five dollars were quickly spent. My grandmother passed away a few years later. But the legacy of the peas lived on, as it lives on to this day. If I so much as curl my lip when they are served (because, after all, I still hate the horrid little things), my mother repeats the dreaded words one more time: "You ate them for money," she says. "You can eat them for love."英语精美的散文篇5An ancient Hebraic text says:" love is as strong as death". It seems that not everyone experiences this kind of strong love. The increasing probably, crime and war tells us that the world is in indispensable need of true love. But what is true love?Love is something we all need. But how do we know when we experience it?True love is best seen as the promotion and action, not an emotion. Love is not exclusively based how we feel.Certainly our emotions are involved. But they cannot be our only criteria for love.True love is when you care enough about another person that you will lay down your life for them. When this happens, then love truly is as strong as death. How many of you have a mother, or father, husband or wife, son or daughter or friend who would sacrificehis or her own life on yours? Those of you who truly love your spells but unchildren, would unselfishly lay your life on the line to save them from death? Many people in an emergency room with their loved ones and prayed"please, God,take me instead of them".Find true love and be a true lover as well.May you find a love which is not only strong as death, but to leave to a truly for feeling life.。

In the realm of literature, where words dance across pages, weaving intricate tapestries of thought and emotion, the essay stands tall as a testament to the power of language. Amidst the vast array of literary genres, the散文, a prose composition that explores a particular subject from a personal perspective, emerges as a beacon of introspection and reflection. As I delve into the depths of a particularly captivating essay, I find myself transported to a realm of literary enchantment, where each sentence unfolds like a silken scroll, revealing layers of meaning and beauty. The author's voice, distinct and intimate, guides me through the labyrinthine corridors of their mind. I become a silent companion, privy to their innermost thoughts and feelings, their hopes and fears, their dreams and disillusionments. The essay becomes a mirror, reflecting the complexities of human nature, the joys and sorrows that we all share. With each turn of the page, I am drawn deeper into the author's world, captivated by their ability to capture the essence of life in words. Simple yet profound, their sentences resonate within me, stirring emotions that I never knew existed. The essay becomes a symphony of language, a harmonious blend of rhythm, tone, and imagery that evokes a kaleidoscope of sensations. The author's insights are like precious gems, scattered throughout the text, each one illuminating a different facet of truth. They challenge my preconceived notions, forcing me to question my own beliefs and assumptions. I find myself grappling with new perspectives, my mind expanding with each revelation. The essay becomes acatalyst for intellectual growth, a spark that ignites a fire of curiosity within me.As I reach the end of the essay, I am filled with a sense of awe and gratitude. The author has not simply shared their thoughts and experiences with me, they have invited me into their soul. The essay has become a bridge, connecting two minds across the chasm of time and space. The beauty of the散文lies in its ability to transcend the boundaries of language and culture. It speaks to the universal human condition, resonating with readers from all walks of life. Whether it is an exploration of the human psyche, a reflection on the nature of love, or a meditation on the meaning of existence, the散文has the power to move, inspire, and transform. In a world often characterized by noise and distraction, the散文offers a sanctuary of peace and contemplation. It invites us to slow down, to savor the richness of language, and to connect with our own inner thoughts and emotions. By immersing ourselves in the world of essays, we cultivateour empathy, our understanding, and our capacity for wonder. As I step away from the captivating essay that has held me captive for hours, I carry with me a profoundappreciation for the art of writing. The散文, in its unassuming brilliance, reminds me of the enduring power of words to shape our thoughts, to expand our horizons, and toenrich our lives. It is a genre that deserves to be celebrated, cherished, and passed down through generations to come.In the tapestry of literature, the散文may not be the most flamboyant or attention-grabbing thread, but it is an essential one. It is the thread that weaves together the fabric of our humanity, connecting us to one another and to the timeless truths that govern our existence. As long as there are minds that seek to explore the depths of human experience, the散文will continue to flourish, a testament to the enduring power of language and the indomitablespirit of creativity.。

Three Days to SeeAll of us have read thrilling stories in which the hero had only a limited and specified time to live. Sometimes it was as long as a year, sometimes as short as 24 hours. But always we were interested in discovering just how the doomed hero chose to spend his last days or his last hours. I speak, of course, of free men who have a choice, not condemned criminals whose sphere of activities is strictly delimited.Such stories set us thinking, wondering what we should do under similar circumstances. What events, what experiences, what associations should we crowd into those last hours as mortal beings, what regrets?Sometimes I have thought it would be an excellent rule to live each day as if we should die tomorrow. Such an attitude would emphasize sharply the values of life. We should live each day with gentleness, vigor and a keenness of appreciation which are often lost when time stretches before us in the constant panorama of more days and months and years to come. There are those, of course, who would adopt the Epicurean motto of Eat, drink, and be merry . But most people would be chastened by the certainty of impending death. In stories the doomed hero is usually saved at the last minute by some stroke of fortune, but almost always his sense of values is changed. He becomes more appreciative of the meaning of life and its permanent spiritual values. It has often been noted that those who live, or have livedd, in the shadow of death bring a mellow sweetness to everything they do.Most of us, however, take life for granted. We know that one day we must die, but usually we picture that day as far in the future. When we are in buoyant health, death is all but unimaginable. We seldom think of it. The days stretch out in an endless vista. So we goabout our petty tasks, hardly aware of our listless attitude toward life. The same lethargy, I am afraid, characterizes the use of all our faculties and senses. Only the deaf appreciate hearing, only the blind realize the manifold blessings that lie in sight. Particularly does this observation apply to those who have lost sight and hearing in adult life. But those who have never suffered impairment of sight or hearing seldom make the fullest use of these blessed faculties. Their eyes and ears take in all sights and sounds hazily, without concentration and with little appreciation. It is the same old story of not being grateful for what we have until we lose it, of not being conscious of health until we are ill.I have often thought it would be a blessing if each human being were stricken blind and deaf for a few days at some time during his early adult life. Darkness would make him more appreciative of sight; silence would teach him the joys of sound.

1. We Are Responsible for Our Life. And nobody else. Although all success requires the assistance and cooperation of others, our success can never be left to anyone else. Luck is not a strategy.

2. Life is Short. Whether we live 20 years or 100, our lives pass quickly. All the more reason to spend our life doing what we love. Since we never know how much time we have left, we should live each day as if it is our last for it just may be.

3. You Can t Learn Less. We can only add to our knowledge. We don t have to give some of it up in exchange for new knowledge. Our ability to absorb and retain knowledge may just be unlimited.
