Unit 5 Huge ice-cream

一、Basic teaching aims:

1. Know these new words: huge, I’ll, which, want

2. Say the sentences: May I have an ice-cream, please? Which one? That one.

3. Go over the words and sentences:

Do you like sandwiches?

What do you like?

What don’t you like?

Which one do you like best?

4. Learn to say the dialogue1 in page31. Try to make another one.

二、Teaching course

Step 1. Daily talk

Good morning, what’s this/that?

Have you got any sandwiches/bread/noodles/hamburgers?

I am thirsty, have you got any water? I want to drink some water.

Step 2. teaching new knowledge:

Ask one pupil: Do you want to drink any water?

Read want

Say: I want, You want, We want some water.

Work in pairs:

Do you want any water? I do not want any water, I want some sandwiches

Which

show the pictures of the sandwiches, ask: Which one do you like?

Practice the sentence: Which one do you like best?

Show the pictures to pupils, and do it with the partner. (bread, noodles, hamburgers, ice-cream. boxes, cake, biscuits)

Huge, I’ll

Here’s a riddle for you. What are these? Two triangles. I can make an ice-cream.

Draw a picture on the blackboard. So big!! Yes, that’s big. That’s huge.

Read the word huge. Guess the meaning of the word “huge”. It’s very very big.

Take out two paper triangles, and say: I’ll make a beautiful thing for you.

I’ll means I will. Read it.

Look, what’s this? It’s an ice-cream. Yes, I’ll get one. Can you make one for me?

Work in pairs. May I have an ice-cream/bread/noodles/hamburgers, please? Here you are. Thank you.

Step 3. Listen to the tape and repeat.

Answer the questions about the text.

Who is the boy in the text?

Who’s the lady in the text?

What can Tom see on the house?

How is the ice-cream?

What does Tom want to buy?

Which one does Tom want? Can it eat?

Which ice-cream do you want to buy?

Make a dialogue with your partner.

Step 4. Practice.

Practice the dialogue in groups of two.

Try to do it.
