I recently finished a book titled "The Great Gatsby" and it left me with a profound sense of melancholy and introspection. The story follows the life of Jay Gatsby, a mysterious and enigmatic figure who is deeply in love with Daisy Buchanan, a woman he has been tryingto win back for years. The book is set in the 1920s, a time of excess and extravagance, and it delves into themes of love, wealth, and the pursuit of the American Dream.
One of the most striking aspects of the book is its vivid depiction of the Roaring Twenties, a period in American history characterized by unprecedented economic prosperity and societal change. The parties, the opulence, and the hedonism portrayed in the novel serve as a stark contrast to the underlying moral decay and disillusionment that pervades the lives of the characters. This stark dichotomy betweenappearance and reality is a powerful commentary on the emptiness and futility of the pursuit of wealth and pleasure.

Pride and prejudice is Austin’s great work. Through the discussion of the different marriages and love, the writer demonstrates her concept about love and marriage: love and marriage is closely associated with property and society, however, love and marriage can not only be decided by the property and social status. An ideal marriage should be based on mutual affection, respect and the same interest. She rejects the marriage based only on wealth.Different people have different ideas upon marriage. By the description and discussion of the four marriages in the novel, we can see that Austen fully expresses her views on love and marriage. Only by appreciating the marriage founded on the basis of mutual understanding and true love, but also by satirizing the marriage founded on the basis of origin and desire. The marriage based on social position and money can’t bring happiness in life. Aimless marriage and love are unpractical.Everything goes wrong for poor couples. Marriage based on wealth is not a fault. At least, it can offer us a bettercondition of life. Property is not everything in the life but without it, we can do nothing. This is called reality. But if you only married for wealth, you sell your liberty. The rest of your life might be miserable, and your marriage will filled with endless bitterness. The tragic story, vividly demonstrates the great human and strong.

英文读后感篇一:《小王子》读后感(英文版)Little PrinceThis is a fairytale whose distribution volume is only second to The Bible. It’s been translated to versions of many other languages. And I gather there must be something special, something really great about it. It’s this conviction that drove me to read it at the first beginning. Well, with due respect to the author, I failed to see how this fairytale be worthy of our attention, despite the fact that many readers claimed this book to be designed for adults.Anyway, as a well-acknowledged book, it must possess unique feature to maintain it’s position. And it’s reputation and popularity will by no means be destroyed by what an unknown man says. I will talk about the main contents of the book, and the inspiration it renders as usual. This book mainly tells us the experience of a prince from a tiny planet, who traveled to many other planets and finally came to the earth and met the pilot in a desert. The prince and the pilot became good friends, and the pilot gradually got to know the feeling and experience of his friend. Before he came to the earth, little prince had been to other 6 little planets where he made acquaintance with some strange people. The first man he met was a king on a little planet, yet he claimed to be the king of the space and ridiculously justified his unshakable governance over all. The second person was a man of vanity, who enjoyed compliments of any form without considering whether it’s sincere or not. The third person was an alcoholic who tried to forget the fact that he’s addicted to acohol by drinking like a fish. The fourth person was an abosolute money-oriented businessman, who cared nothing but his fortune. Next came the lamp-lighter who performed his duty blindly. The last one was a geographer who knew too much about geography to solve a real problem related to it. These six people each represented one kind of person like us. The author satirized people’s conceit, emptiness, fakeness, innocence and blindness through the tone of a child.I see e ye to eye with the author in that the cause of people’s loneliness can be concluded to the negligence of the bonds that connects them. People are supposed to care about each other, cherish what’s really important for them, and be grateful for the happiness that they’ve gained. We all believe knowledge and experience enable us to see clearly and make right judgements all the time. But we may sometimes lose the right to speak straighforwardly, think creatively or love courageously resulting from what we’vee xperienced. That why in our middle school textbooks, it’s the little kid that breaks the illusion of the emperor by saying ”but mum, he ain’t were anything”.When I was a child, I was definitely a good boy who went home on time after school and did his hom ework and never tried anything without mom’s permission. And now I am a grown-up, and still I am a good man, at least, that’s what I heard. Sometimes when I was lonely and I began to think about my childhood, then all the happiness and care-freelife came back to me as it were yesterday. Kids that once accompanied me during my childhood now become fathers and mothers of their kids and I myself am a child no more. Thinking about all these things have made me moody. There’re changes happening in our lives whether we are happy about it or not.People told me life is a journey which will never stop once it’s started. What’s left behind are happiness and sorrow, pride and shame, success and regret. There’s good old time to reminisce and there’s sad hours that re minds us of the pain. Your feeling makes them real, and you know you lived.I want to conclude by saying some positive words that each yestersday used to be today, and each today is the future of yesterday, so making the most of today is the best way toch erish your lives. Our mortal beings are doomed to die. It’s not sad, instead, death it’s just a process of our lives. After all, we’ve lived our lives and it’s what we do and how we thinkthat determine who we are.(when you look at the above passages, don’t regard it as a composition or an article, because if you do, you will be puzzled at the structure. It’s just a few words that come to my mind at the moment and I type them.)Have a nice day!

It’s really an interesting book, telling many adventurous stories. I had watched the TV series before, but I found that the book is much interesting. Except for the adventurous experiences, we still can learn something from this book. We should be brave and confident to ourselves, no matter how many difficulties we meet. Our fellows and teamwork is important to us. When we are in trouble, they are the person we can rely on. And the trust between people is of great importance. It can combine people to a group and work together.

Here I am sitting on a couch alone, thinking about what I have just finished reading with tears of sadnefilling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart, which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishneof the secular world for a long time. It is truly what I felt after reading Oliver Twist, written by the prominent British author Charles Dickens. The resonance between me and the book makes me feel not only the kindneand the wickedneof all the characters in the novel, but what this aloof society lacks, and what I lack deep inside. These supreme resources I’m talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals, oil that we usually mention. They’re abstract like feelings, and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another —— love and care. Those charitable figures whom Dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life. They showed love and care to others, just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth, which was carved into my heart deeply.Mr. Brownlow is one such person. The other day he had one of his elaborate watches stolen by two skilled teenage thieves, Artful Dodger and Charley Bates, and thought naturally it was Oliver, who was an orphan and forced to live with a gang of thieves, that had done it because he was the only one near by after the theft had takenplace. Being wrathful, he caught Oliver, and sent him to the police station where the ill-tempered, unfair magistrates worked. Fortunately for him, Oliver was proved innocent by one onlooker afterwards. With sympathy, Mr. Brownlow took the injured, poor Oliver to his own home. There Oliver lived freely and gleefully for some months as if he were Mr. Brown low’s own son. One day, however, Mr. Brownlow asked Oliver to return some books to the bookseller and to send some money for the new books that he had already collected. The thief Oliver once stayed with kidnapped him. After that he disappeared in Mr. Brow nlow’s life. Searching for a while, Mr. Brownlow had to believe the fact that he had run away with his money. But dramatically, they came acroeach other again a few years later. Without hesitation, Mr. Brownlow took Oliver home for the second time not caring if he had done something evil.Perhaps most of us would feel confused about Mr. Brownlow’s reaction. But as a matter of fact, this is just the lesson we should learn from him. Jesus said in the Bible. “Forgive not seven times, but seventy-times seven.” Why is that? Because forgiveneis our ability to remove negative thoughts and neutralize them so our energy may be spent on doing what we came here for. We cannot move forward in our future if past issues cloud our thinking. Stop put Mr. Brownlow into the list of your models. Always give people a second chance no matter what they might have done. That’s also a substantial part of loving and caring others.Charles Dickens said:“Love makes the world go around.” These immortal words have inspired and will keep on inspiring us to chant the melody of love and to say the prayer of care forevermore. Let us, therefore, enjoy lifeand treat other people lovingly. These principles are the roots and foundations of beliefs supporting this article and our mission together.

老人与海英文读后感6篇老人与海英文读后感篇一:英文读后感之老人与海读后感the Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway"s most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. It played a GREat part in his winning the Pulizer Prize in 1953 and the 1954 Novel Prize for Literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. Hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. Besides The Old Man And the Sea, I have read some of his other works, such as The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms and The Snow of Kilimanijaro. But The Old Man and the Sea is the one thatleft the deepest impression on me.I first read this book when I was in my fifteens. And now I remember it just as well as if I had read it yesterday.Pride and Prejudice is a chefdoeuvre. My first impression of this story was from screen. It"s long long ago, maybe before I can read english books. I don"t remember which movie edition I had seen. But I was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume. I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. It"s pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, theheroine, though I didn"t think she"s beautiful. But she"s smart. However, I didn"t pay much attention to the plot. I thought it"s so long that it made me impatient and bored. By now, I haven"t read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either. I owe it to myprejudice. In fact, I didn"t understand the story at that time. I didn"t know why it called Pride and Prejudice. Of course someone was pride, but I didn"t find where" s the prejudice. I thought it"s normal, the way people treated each other in that. I considered prejudice would be very disgusting. But to the movie everthing was OK in my minds, except its length. Now, I think I have understood more about it. I"m a prejudiced person so I can"t find where"s wrong. I merely like to do the things I like. Everytime I meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of the time.

1I have recently read a remarkable English book called "The Little Prince". This book has left an indelible mark on my heart and mind. The story is not only enchanting but also profoundly moving. The friendship between the little prince and the fox touched me deeply. It made me realize that true friendship is based on mutual understanding and commitment. The prince's journey through different planets and his encounters with various characters opened my eyes to the diversity and complexity of human nature. The depiction of true love in the book is equally captivating. The little prince's love for his rose is pure and selfless. It taught me that love is not just about possession but about caring and sacrificing for the one you love.Reading this book was like embarking on a magical adventure that took me to places beyond my imagination. It made me reflect on my own relationships and the values I hold dear. The simple yet profound language used in the book made it accessible and yet thought-provoking.I believe that "The Little Prince" is not just a children's book; it is a masterpiece that can inspire and enlighten readers of all ages. It has definitely changed the way I perceive the world and has filled my heart with warmth and wisdom.2I have read many wonderful English books, but one that has left a deep impression on me is "Charlotte's Web". This touching story has taken me on an emotional journey and made me reflect on the true meaning of friendship and life. The story unfolds around a pig named Wilbur and a spider named Charlotte. Their unlikely friendship is so pure and selfless. When Wilbur faces the threat of being slaughtered, Charlotte weaves words in her web to save him. I was deeply moved by the loyalty and sacrifice of Charlotte. Her determination to protect her friend at all costs made me realize the power of true friendship. This story also made me think about the relationships between people in real life. How often do we take our friends for granted? How many times do we fail to show the same level of commitment and care as Charlotte did for Wilbur? It made me resolve to be a better friend, to be there for others in times of need, and to cherish the precious bonds of friendship. In conclusion, "Charlotte's Web" is not just a story; it is a lesson in love, friendship, and the value of every living being. It has opened my eyes and my heart, and I will carry its message with me always.3Recently, I read a wonderful English book called "The Secret Garden".This book has brought me a lot of inspirations and thoughts. The story follows a young girl named Mary who discovers a hidden and neglected garden. As she works to restore the garden to its former glory, she undergoes a profound transformation herself. Through Mary's experiences, I realized the power of nature and the importance of having a positive attitude towards life.In the beginning, Mary was a spoiled and selfish child. But as she spent time in the garden, breathing the fresh air, touching the soft soil, and seeing the flowers bloom one after another, she gradually became kind, brave, and full of love. This made me understand that nature has a magical ability to heal and change people. It can soothe our souls, make us more patient and empathetic, and help us find the beauty and meaning of life. Also, the process of restoring the garden required Mary to cooperate with her friends. They shared the joys and difficulties together, which showed me the significance of unity and friendship. Only by working together and supporting each other can we overcome difficulties and achieve our goals. In conclusion, "The Secret Garden" is not only an interesting story but also a guide that teaches us how to face life with optimism and how to get along with others. It has left a deep impression on me and will always inspire me to be a better person. When I look back on my reading journey, I find that English books have played an indispensable role in my growth. One book that has left a profound impact on me is "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer". After delving into this wonderful story, I was deeply touched by Tom's brave spirit and optimistic attitude towards life. His adventures made me realize that fear is often just an illusion, and with courage, one can overcome any difficulties.I started to face challenges in my life with more bravery and confidence, just like Tom did.Another book that has greatly influenced me is "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". The whimsical and fantastical world described in the book sparked my imagination like never before. I was able to envision myself in Alice's shoes, experiencing the strange and magical encounters. This not only broadened my thinking but also made me more creative in my daily life. I began to look at the world from different perspectives and find the beauty and possibilities hidden within. In conclusion, these English books have been like guiding stars, lighting up my path of growth. They have taught me valuable lessons, allowing me to become a better version of myself. I believe that as I continue to explore the world of English literature, I will gain more wisdom and strength to embrace the future.I have recently delved into the enchanting world of "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, and it has left an indelible mark on my literary journey. The novel is a masterpiece of character portrayal. Austen's meticulous description brings each character to life with vividness and depth. Elizabeth Bennet, with her intelligence and spirit, and Mr. Darcy, with his initial arrogance and subsequent transformation, are crafted with such finesse that they seem to step out of the pages and into our hearts. The dialogues are another aspect that demands admiration. They are not merely exchanges of words but rather intellectual battles and emotional revelations. Each conversation is a dance of wits and a window into the characters' souls. The author's ability to weave a complex web of social norms and personal aspirations within a seemingly simple story is truly remarkable. The societal constraints and the characters' struggles against them form the backdrop of a tale that is as relevant today as it was in Austen's time.In conclusion, "Pride and Prejudice" is not just a story; it is a mirror that reflects the human condition, a symphony of words that resonates through the ages. It has taught me about the power of perception, the importance of true understanding, and the beauty of love that transcends pride and prejudice.。

The famous novel "love life" was a sensation in Europe and America, and has been praised Lenin. Works to show the nature of the strong, brave and adventurous spirit of romance, "To Live" strong will to attract me deeply, is excited about reading. This novel, by Jack London with great artistic strength to calm a soul-stirring account of the life and death struggle of the story, showing how to love life to help overcome the death of a person; Despite the Cross, the sick, exhausted, still in In the struggle to keep up with bare hands in the back of a uniform E Lang, and the world of ice and snow through the wildernestruggling to come to the beach, was finally rescued by a whaler. The tragic story, vividly demonstrates the great human and strong. Full display of the depths of human nature Moments, and vivid descriptions of a life's tenacity and strong, struck up a tenacious hymn to life, the spirits can be described as awesome.Life itself contains enormous potential energy. Sometimes life is very fragile moment, it may come to naught; life, but sometimes unusual strong, so strong was amazing. This allows you to power in the face no matter what, even if you swallow is the wild, wild animals, or hunger, disease, and will support you bravely overcome it. And behind the scenes support life, the energy is no doubt that conviction. As long as the hearts of survival is also the belief that they do not easily give up their lives, On the other hand, love life, it is necess. The novel description is one year near sixty years of age senior fisherman, when alone goes to sea in one fishing, fished one big fish, actually did not pull. The senior fisherman socialized several days after the fish, only then discovered this was the big marlin which one surpassed the oneself fishing boat several fold, although knew perfectly well very difficult to win, but still did not give up. Again has a look us, usually meets one slightly is difficult, we all complain incessantly. We will be the motherland future, will be supposed to like this old person same mind lofty aspiration, will even better pursue even better, the bigger goal. Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters. The characters have their own personalities. Mrs. Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. Mr. Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr. Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. Even thefive daughters in Bennet family are very different. Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. Mary likes reading classic books. (Actually she is a pedant.)Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century. The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen’s favourite topic. But this little topic can reflect big problems. It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century. You can find these from the very beginning of this book.Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”,her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I thinkthe depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.
