At first you might not like him because he seems selfish and untrustworthy. But then you realize he had to be that way to survive in a world where animals get treated unfairly just for what they are. Deep down, Nick is actually a good guy who becomes Judy's friend and helps her solve the big mystery happening in Zootopia.I love how Judy and Nick are total opposites but they make such a great team. Judy is an idealistic rule-follower while Nick is a cynical con-artist. But they learn from each other and make each other better. Judy helps Nick realize he is worth more than just trying to get ahead the dishonest way. And Nick teaches Judy that the world isn't as simple as she thought, that evengood people sometimes have to take shortcuts to survive. Together they are unstoppable!The story of Zootopia starts when Judy has to solve this really difficult case of animals going savage and attacking others for no reason. At first, everyone thinks it's because predators like lions and tigers can't control their natural instincts to be vicious. Judy even says something kind of racist by accident that makes the whole city afraid of predators.But with Nick's help, Judy discovers that the savage behavior is actually being caused by Assistant Mayor Bellwether secretly darting predators with a special shooting flower that messes with their brains! Bellwether hates predators because her ancestors faced discrimination from them in the past. She wants all predators to go back to being forced to wear barbaric muzzles and tame collars like in the old days. Her plan is to make Zootopia turn against predators so she can be in charge and get rid of them forever.Isn't that an insanely good twist? I never saw it coming! I thought for sure it would just be about predator animals struggling with their animal nature, which would have been a cool message about acceptance too. But the movie goes even deeper by showing how discriminating against any group, even ifyou think you have a reason, is wrong and dangerous. It makes you realize that fear of those who are different is actually the biggest threat, not the minority group itself.Judy and Nick are able to stop Bellwether's evil plan by working together and showing that a bunny and fox can be best friends and partners. They prove that stereotyping all predators as savages is nonsense. In the end, Judy is a hero and Nick gets a good job with the police too. They make the world a little bit better.I also love all the other fun characters in Zootopia like the super hardcore cop buffalo Bogo, the hilarious rental car guys, the pop star gazelle, Mr. Big the tiny ruthless shrew, and Flash the motivational sloth. The animation is so vibrant and detailed that you feel like you're really in Zootopia, from the tiny rodent neighborhoods to the sprawling cities made for huge animals. And there are tons of clever jokes and puns about animal stereotypes that only adults would fully get.But my favorite part is the overall message that we should all try to be unbrushed - I mean, un-bunned - I mean, unbiased! We shouldn't judge others just because of how they look on the outside or what family they were born into. Anyone can be anything if you just give them a fair chance. Judy wanted sobadly to be a police officer even though bunnies are expected to be weak cowardly carrot farmers. But she proved the stereotypes wrong through hard work and bravery. Nick learned not to have low self-worth and define himself solely by the negative stereotypes of foxes being sly tricksters.Zootopia shows that discrimination and prejudice hurts everyone, even those who practice it. If prey animals like Judy never gave predators a chance, she would have missed out on her best friend and partner Nick. If Bellwether had succeeded, all of Zootopia would be stuck in the past living in fear instead of evolving to a better future. But by keeping an open mind and not letting stereotypes cloud her judgment, Judy created a brighter, more harmonious world for all animals.In the end, I think Zootopia is the perfect movie for kids and grownups because it teaches such an important lesson in the most fun, exciting, and insanely creative way possible. I love how determined and brave she is!When Judy finally makes it to Zootopia, she has to work really hard because some of the other animals don't think a bunny can be a good cop. A bunch of predator animals have been mysteriously going savage and attacking other animals for no reason! At first, Nick is a little mean and selfish, but Judy helps him learn to be a better person. I love their friendship so much! The stakes are so high because if Judy fails to solve the case, all the predators she loves could get exiled from Zootopia forever.My favorite part is when Judy gives an amazing speech at the end where she realizes that discrimination is wrong and we shouldn't be afraid of animals that are different from us. She says "When we try to make someone else less than ourselves, we only become less ourselves." I think that's such an important message about how we need to embrace our differences instead of fearing them. I also love the scene where Nick has the chance to take revenge but instead chooses to walk away and be the bigger mammal. It just goes to show that anyone can be anything in Zootopia!The movie has so many funny characters too like Judy's hilarious parents, the super-positive Gazelle, the teeny-tiny hilarious godfather of the criminal animals, and Flash the talkative, super-slow sloth at the DMV. I find myself still randomly quoting the movie with my friends all the time! Likewhen we're moving slow we say "Buh huh huh...What...can I...do...for you...today?" just like Flash.The animation in Zootopia is breathtaking. I've watched it like a gazillion times and I'm still spotting new funny details in the backgrounds. The city of Zootopia itself is like a whole different world with different neighborhoods perfectly designed for all the unique animal species. From the lush Rainforest District to the frigid Tundratown, each area is so creative and beautifully animated. The characters' fur and expressions look incredibly real too. You can see the individual strands of Judy's grey bunny fur! And the sloths actually move in hyper-slow motion. It's hilarious.I love the music too, especially the hot songs by Gazelle. Every time "Try Everything" comes on I have to get up and dance! The lyrics are all about having the courage to try new things and never giving up on your dreams. Plus, Shakira's voice is just so beautiful. In the context of children’s movies, it’s a fairly daring scene, since in an otherwise fast-moving story the joke takes a loooong time to roll out.
