Radcliffe(拉德克利夫 ),who come from England, made the grade – 2 hours 15 minutes 25 seconds , which was announced by IAAF(国际田联) to be the first world record about women’s marathon on 2004/1/1 too.

• Chinese first winner of marathon
Zhou Chunxiu(周春雪) wined the famous London Marathon on 2007/4/22 at the time 2 hours 20 minutes 38 seconds. She became the first winner of China . Zhou Chunxiu took the specialized training of Marathon and her ability improved very sharply. During many International matches, She got good grades.

It was set up in 1897/4/19 , it was the first city marathon(城市马拉松 比赛 ) in the world ,and at that time ,only 15 athletes took part in it .It was usually hold during April. Before 1986 , the winner could gain a olive crown(橄榄叶花冠) and a cup as a prize. But the pity is that many athletes can not take part in it because of her strict limit to people’s qualification for participating in competition , so all the best athletes are proud of winning this match.

History
1.The first winner of marathon-Spiridon Louis
On the 1896/4/10, the first marathon was held, 25 athletes participated in it and Spiridon Louis was one of them. The competition was very stiff, but Spiridon Louis wined at last and he only used less than 3 hours. When Hellenes knew this new, the all Greece became crazed. Spiridon Louis made a new Greek mythology(希腊神话).
The Origin
Marathon is a name of a place in Greece, where in the north of Athens. In this place, a very famous war between Greece(希 腊) and Persia(波斯) happened. At last, Athenians wined . A soldier named Pheidippides (斐迪 彼德斯 ) sacrifice his life for delivering the news of victory in the shortest time. In memory of the win of the war and the hero – Pheidippides, Athenians（雅典人） set a long race named marathon in the first Olympic Games on 1896. The distance of marathon was determined for 42.192 miles.
