ABSTRACT
Specimen I. D. “ACTND04LS”
Description: The specimen was 5.1mm in diameter and consisted of fiber optical conductors insulated in a yellow jacket.
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Report 60332-3-24, Tests on Electric
Cables Under Fire Conditions, Part 3-24: Test for Vertical Flame Spread of Vertically-Mounted Bunched Wires or Cables, Category C, Edition 1.1, 2009-02.
Category C - The number of test pieces required to provide a nominal total volume of non-metallic material of 1.5 liters per meter.
The test flame was supplied by means of a 250-mm wide, 11-55 drilling ribbon-type burner, and an air/gas Venturi mixer (catalog no. 14-18) manufactured by the American Gas Furnace Company. The burner was mounted horizontally 600 mm from the bottom of the cable tray. The burner is located so that the flame impinges on the specimen midway between the tray rungs and 75 mm from the closest surface of the test specimen.
III TEST PROCEDURE
The test specimen comprises a number of test pieces from the same sample, each having a minimum length of 3.5 m. The total number of 3.5-m test pieces in the test specimen is in accordance with one of three categories as follows:
Test Standard: International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Report 60332-3-10, Tests on Electric Cables Under Fire Conditions, Part 3-10: Test for Vertical Flame Spread of Vertically-Mounted Bunched Wires or Cables – Apparatus, First Edition, 2000-10.
