First, the author talks about the foreign research situation of the second language acquisition. The author divided the motivation into integrative motivation and instrumental motivation from the view of linguistics. On the other hand, the author divided the anxiety into faciliating anxiety and debilitating anxiety according to the influence of anxiety on learner. The facilitating anxiety learners are always positive, and they long for the knowledge all the time. It can also stimulate the learners to challenge the new learning task, and help them overcome their feeling of anxiety. On the other hand, the debilitating anxiety has the negative effect on learners. First, they always worried about mistakes what they will make. Then, they will become a self-denial person. Second, the learner doesn’t take part in the activity in class. Horwitz thinks that the facilitating anxiety only be suitable for the simple learning task, not be suitable for the complex learning task. Horwitz holds the idea that the foreign language learner will have the following anxiety. First, communicative apprehension, it means that the learner will become anxious when they can’t express themselves well. Second, negative social evaluation, it means that the learner will become anxious when they worried about making mistake. Third, test anxiety, the learner will become anxious when they have a test.

Second, the author talks about the domestic research situation of the second language acquisition. About this, he talks about the motivation first. When you plan to do something, you might have your own purpose to do this. I think it’s motivation. With the high motivation, people will to do the things better. I believe that you might have the similar personal experience. When you want to achieve your goal, you would try your best to do it. I think it’s positive motivation. The whole process of studying is always filled with our emotions. It’s a normal phenomenon. We have already known that the positive motivation could promote our interest to study. Then, the self-confidence is also a factor. I always believe that people are own potential power, and the power is infinite. There are so many things what we think it’s impossible to complete, finally, we have done it. You believe you can do that, then you can. As an old saying goes:” the god will help oneself who help himself.” If you can’t believe yourself, you will not try your best to do it. When you try to do something with the low self-confidence,you will be worried. Maybe there is a voice in your heart,” I will be fail, I can’t do it.” Just consider it, do you think that you can do it better? Next, the anxiety is the last factor. To some extent, anxiety is positive for us. It means that you have strong will to do what you want to do. Then you will spare no effort to make it
