2 What a good idea!

Passage Puppy love (少年初恋,早恋)is common among students all over the world. In the West people think puppy love is a harmless and healthy part of a teenager's life- harmless, sure, like bees at a family picnic! In China, parents and teachers think it is a problem: It can distract students from achieving success at school. Well, puppy love is distracting! But then again, it gives the young a chance to learn about true love. Puppy love is natural and beautiful; it can help you later in life when you meet your Mr. or Mrs. Right, it can make you a better person so that you know how to use your love to help other people.
Making apologies& responses
Daniel: Honey, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to anger you. You know how terrible the traffic jam can be on Sunday morning. Shardon: Enough, Daniel! It's easy to say sorry. Last week it was the bad weather; today it's the heavy traffic. I won't listen to your excuses anymore. Daniel: Shardon, come on. I know I 've hurt your feelings. I promise it'll never happen again. Shardon: Oh, no, no, Daniel, I don't need your promise! Your apology is unacceptable. It's over between us.
Mary: You were playing it very late last night.
Ken: Yes, some of my friends and I were having a party.
Mary: It kept me awake.
Ken: Oh, I'm sorry. I don't know how that could have happened.
Elizabeth: Good afternoon, Mr.Brown. Mr.Brown: Good afternoon, Elizabeth. Your graduation design is due this afternoon by 17:00, but you haven't submitted it yet.
Mary: It's OK. You know, it only happened once.
Ken: I'm glad we've straightened everything out.
Sample conversations Amy: Hello, Gary. I'm sorry that I have to be late for our meeting. Gary: What happened, Amy?
Mike: Several friends kept asking why you didn't show up since we are best friends. It was very embarrassing. Jack: I had to see my dentist last Friday, because my toothache was killing me. I had totally forgotten about your birthday and I didn't take my phone with me. I apologize. Mike: OK. Your apology is accepted. How is your tooth now? Jack: It's fine. I'll make up for my mistake, anyway.
Bill: Hi, Dave. I'm sorry I'll be late for the art show. Dave: What's the matter, Bill? Bill: I'm caught in the traffic jam now. The cars ahead move very slowly. There's no way to make it in time.
Sample conversations
Jack: Hello, buddy!
Mike: Hi, Jack. You didn't show up at my birthday party last Friday. Jack: What? Your birthday is last Friday?

Daniel: Darling, please excuse me, give me a chance to explain. I got caught in the traffic jam. Shardon: You know what, you always have reasons. But every time, your excuses don't hold any water. Please, don't treat me as an idiot.
Ken: I owe you an apology for (我该向你道歉)what I did last night. It simply didn't occur to me that it was bothering you. I pormise I'll keep it down in the future.

Amy: Thanks for your understanding. I do owe you an apology for being late. Gary: It really doesn't matter. I will wait for you.
Elizabeth: Please excuse me. There was something wrong with my computer last week. The work that I had done was totally lost and I had to start all over again. I'm almost done. Mr.Brown: All right. Since you have your reason, I will extend the deadline till tomorrow morning at 8:00. Elizabeth: Great. Thank you so much. I promise to submit my work tonight.
Elizabeth: I'm sorry, sir. I will try my best to finish it as soon as possible. Mr.Brown: It's almost 15:30 now. Can you finish it on time? If you can't meet the deadline, you won't graduate as you planned.
Dave: Oh, that's too bad.
Bill: I shouldn't have picked this road. I do beg your pardon for being late. Dave: Think no more of it(别再想它了). It happens sometimes.
Mary: Actually, it kept me awake for a couple of hours.
Ken: I'm awfully sorry(我非常抱歉). I... I didn't realize it was that loud. Mary: It was quite loud, and it was pretty late. I've got to get up early in the morning, so I thought I'd better talk to you.
