Little Women
This week, I had read a very warm story which was written by an American writer-Louisa May Alcott. The book’s name is “Little Women”. It describes four girls’ stories in the March. Four girls’ father- Mr. March was far away from home. He was f right for his belief and country. So, these girls live with their mum. Now, let’s introduce these girls: Margaret, the oldest of four, was very pretty, being plump and fair, with large eyes, plenty of soft hair, a sweet mouth and white hands, of which she was rather vain. The second one is Jo. She was very tall, thin and brown. She had a decided mouth and sharp, grey eyes, which appeared to see everything, and were by turns fierce, or thoughtful. Beth was a shy manner a timid voice, and a peaceful expression, which was seldom disturb. A regular snow-maiden girl named Amy, with blue eyes, and yellow hair, curling on her shoulders, pale and slender, and always carrying herself like a young lady mindful of her manners.
Christmas is coming day after day. Mrs. March proposed her daughters that not having any presents this Christmas was because it’s going to be a hard winner for everyone. She thought that we ought not to spend money for pleasure when our men are suffering so in the army. To everyone’s surprise, Mr. March sent a letter to his wife and girls. In this letter, he sent all sorts of loving wishes for Christmas, and an especial message to his loving girls. In those hard times, a letter came from frontline can bring much comfort to the family members.
In the dawn of Christmas morning, girls waken up by the bright light. They prepared some presents for their mother, just like handkerchiefs, slippers and cologne. They put these presents in a basket and hid it behind the door. Now, four girls were waiting for Mrs. March to have breakfast. But Mrs. March brought a terrible message to her home. Their neighbor was too poor to make a fire. Six children were huddled into one bed to keep from freezing. “Girls, will you give them your breakfast as a Christmas present?” Thought they were very hungry, they were happy to help their mum to carry food to the neighbor. “Loving our neighbor is better than us.” Said Meg, due to they set out their presents. Four girls are all kind-heart. In a party, Jo met a
bashful boy named Laurie. Laurie lived with his grandfather in a big house. After the party, Laurie used his carriage to sent Jo to her home. “I declare, it really seems like being a fine young lady to come home from the party in a carriage, and sit in my dressing-grown with a maid to wait on Me.” said Meg. She was envious of the ostentation and extravagance which the upper-class had. Jo and Laurie became good friends quickly. They usually had a joyful talk. Because of Jo,Laurie broke away from loneliness. They attracted with each other. What good times they had, to be sure! Meg could walk in the conservatory whenever she liked; Jo browsed over the new library voraciously; Amy copied pictures and enjoyed beauty to her heart content. But Beth, though yearning for the grand piano, could not pluck up courage to approach the wonderful good. After understanding Beth’s puzzlement, the old Mr. Laurie told Beth that she can practice on it now and then, just to keep it in tune. Nobody could disturb her or laugh at her. Beth was very happy to accept the task. The old Mr. Laurie gave Beth a small piano as a present and Beth made a pair of slipper for the old gentleman. Beth nerve thinking of any reward but to be loved. In order to look after her poor neighbor, Beth was infected with the scarlet fever. At this moment, a letter from the frontline added to their trouble, for Mr. March had a relapse, and could not think of coming home for a while. But the catastrophe didn’t defeat the March. Under the consideration of family members, Beth recovered the health and Mr. March returned to the home safely. Meg envied something luxurious, but at last, for the sake of true love, she gave up of the right of inheritance. The bright sunshine shined the March’s house…
The book showed us the different aspects of four girls. Meg, as she said, she was fond of luxury, and her chief trouble, was poverty. She found it hard to bear than the others. She tried not to be envious or discontented, but it was very natural that the young girl should long for pretty things, gay friends, accomplishment, and a happy life. A sense of injustice made her feel bitter towards everyone sometimes, for she had not yet learned to know how rich she was in the blessing which alone can make her happy. To our happiness, she found herself at last. Jo, a sincere girl, was glad to help the people around her. Her love was pure and enthusiastic. Thanks to Jo’s assistance,
