申请专业:biochemistryWith the approach of new century, the developing China is requiring better trained and more highly educated men and women than ever before in history. In order to make more contributions to the society and, at the same time, satisfy my keen interest in science, I am looking forward to beginning my graduate study. I heard of Case Western Reserve University as early as when I was an undergraduate student. She is one of the most highly regarded universities in the world and is an ideal place for ambitious youth.I plan to study for Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University with special interests in metabolism, macromolecular synthesis, and protein crystal growth. I have had plentiful preparations. First, when being an undergraduate in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tsinghua University, I got very extensive and intensive education. I took many courses on chemistry and the related subjects, and earned high scores for most of them. Second, my major, Polymer, can be put into good use in Biochemistry programs because Polymer is closely related with biological Macromolecule. Third, I have working experience that enriches my theory and laboratory skills. From 1990 to now, I have been engaged as an Assistant Engineer by the Research institute, Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Corporation (RIBYPC). In the first year, I was in charge of a 5-litre reactor for polymerization of CarboxylatedButadiene-Styene Latex. Then I was transferred to another research group to synthesize PET/PHB copolymer, a kin of polyester, which has the property of Liquid Crystal. I am the assistant head of the group. We can prepare the novel polymer with high molecule weight and excellent property in a 2-litre stainless steel reactor. During this monomers, with purity of more than 99.99%; this made my leader very satisfied.More than four years of working experiences expand my capacity. I often make use of NMR, X-ray, DSC and other instrumental methods for research. Among them, I am most skilled in NMR reactors, I have experiences on solving problems of Engineering and Mechanics. What is more, I am familiar with computer operation and some application software. The above information about my specialty may be helpful for you to evaluate me.It is said that the 21st century will be the age of Life Science.I hope to enter the esteemed Case Western Reserve University to face this challenge. I am confident tat I shall be an excellent fellow. After completing my graduate study, I would like to return to my homeland and make use of my knowledge to serve the people.By the way, I would like to give thanks to my parents. Being their oldest son, I am offered the most formal education and the deepest love. I never forget the 18-year’s life with them. Twelve years in the countryside and six years in Shengli Oil Field bestowed me the character of diligence, resolution, and perseverance, as well as the deep love of nature and life. I am also indebted to my dear wife. Without her never-ended encouragement and support in these years, I could not become closer and closer to the gate of the eminent Case Western Reserve University.申请专业: biochemistryKnowing where is heading during navigation brings assured happiness. As a student majoring in Biochemistry, I began my odyssey five years ago, when our class had a new biology teacher, who was young and energetic. He taught us in an entertaining way and communicated with us quite well. I liked him very much and was impressed by the knowledge of Biological Sciences. He opened new doors to the realm of Biology in my life. And with time being, I feel more and more sure about my destination. Although the trail of navigation has not always been definitely straight, I believe it leads me to my dream.Because of my excellent performance in the National Olympic Mathematics Contest of High School Students in 1994 and my outstanding academic record in senior high school, I had the opportunity to be admitted to Peking University or Tsinghua University, two most selective universities in China, waived of the Admission Examination. But if I took the chance, I couldn’t select biological sciences as my major. So I gave up the precious chance and took the Admission Examination. I succeeded and was admitted by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Peking University, which ranks first in biological science education and research in China and has raised many scholars including members of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the first three years in university, my curriculum has a broad range, covering both natural and humanity sciences, as well as putting emphasis not only on biological sciences but also on closely related courses. I have dedicated my energy to my study and have received a complete, profound and strict training in biological sciences with the combined strength of individual and professors' help. Playing basketball is also a solid part of mycampus life. I am an active member in the basketball team of the College of Life Sciences in Peking University. As a point guard, the organizer of the team's attack, I have learned to make the five players to be a strong group in a game. Last year, we ranked the third in Peking University Cup among the thirty-six teams. This experience endows me a strong sense of responsibility, confidence and team-working spirit. To be a successful scientific researcher requires not only academic potential but also independent research ability. A student will develop capability for independent research by working closely with a scholar. For this reason, I entered the National Laboratory of Protein Engineering and Plant Genetic Engineering and participated the Group of Protein Structure and Function. Now I cooperate with two graduate students, one of whom will go to the Harvard Medical School to continue his research work. Our ultimate goal is to develop a new thrombolysis drug, which is supported by the National 863 Hi-Tech Planning. (Please check Research Experience for detail.) 留学申请个人陈述-生物医学工程B...Personal statementsI think that applying engineering techniques to the human body is a fascinating, absorbing and rewarding endeavour with many potential benefits for health care. Arguably, all engineering disciplines seek to further our quality of life, however, what interests me in bioengineering is that it can directly affect and improve our health and well being. Applications like innovatively designed needle-less injections could reduce the great number of injuries due to syringes, and developments in minimal access surgery using imaging techniques will be incredibly valuable, for example, in reaching otherwise inaccessible disease areas. While undertaking work experience at a General Practice, I quickly realised that I would like to have a positive impact on health care, whilst retaining a focus on engineering.Physics is a subject which absolutely fascinates me; I really enjoy observing theoretical ideas being utilized in real world situations. This passion has led me to be the Physics Student Leader, where I have taken the responsibility of going into physics lessons in the Lower School and helping the younger students. Furthermore, I have spent time with other subject leaders considering the possibility of reducing the environmental impact of our school. I also attended a Particle Physics Master class at Durham University, where I learnt about projects such as CERN. Mathematics also greatly interests me; so much so that I have been independently reading about topics like the calculation of pi by mathematicians including Gregory, Leibniz, and Machin which I first read about in Enigma by Robert Harris. I also enjoy working through the complex problems I encounter in mechanicsand applying the techniques I have learnt.Whilst Physics and Mathematics are my preferred subjects, I also enjoy all aspects of science, whether it is from the biological or the physical sciences. For example, in biology I found the structure of the heart and the way it works particularly interesting. Thus the multi-disciplinary bio-engineering course appeals to me as it will incorporatemany different areas of science. I read both Student BMJ and the New Scientist; recent articles of interest include one on apparent imperfections in human evolution. In July 2006 I spent three weeks doing volunteer work in Costa Rica organised through my local Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. We worked for a short period with an indigenous tribe and also worked at a turtle conservation project, where we built a raised walkway from local bamboo. My experience there opened my eyes to third world culture and environment, and improved my communication skills and my ability at working as part of a team. I can also work independently which is shown in my success in studying an A-level in Religious Studies a year early, in my own time. I am currently studying Further Maths AS-level in my own time because I enjoy the challenge it presents me, and because I believe it will help develop my mathematical aptitude, which is an important ability for any engineer. One of my main leisure interests is playing the guitar, which I find thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable. I play many styles, including classical, jazz and I am involved in a rock band called ?Required By Fashion”, with whom I helped organise two charity gigs. In my church I play in the worship band. Through church I have been on Christian Adventure Holidays in the Lake District where I took part in mountaineering, rock climbing, canoeing, sailing and ghyll bashing, which were all great fun! The Christian faith has also helped me to develop a strong sense of morals and a compassionate attitude to other people.I like to think that I have the maturity and commitment to succeed at University, and believe I will enjoy and rise to the challenges I encounter. I feel I will also add to the university community and have the potential to achieve.。

Excited by the idea of becoming a scientist since I was a small child, my interests in pursuing graduate studies intensified during my undergraduate education and my research experience. Rather than discouraging me with the tremendous amount of work and demands for creativity, my college years motivated me to earn a Ph.D. and to continue pursuing a career as a research scientist. Although my exact research goals have yet to be refined, my interests include studying the genetic basis of disease and the genetic mechanisms that govern various cellular processes, such as the cell cycle, apoptosis, and tumor formation.Although I entered college without a clear research direction, the Biotechnology Program at Rochester Institute of Technology helped develop my interest in the field of Genetics. I found much of my laboratory training at RIT to be extremely rewarding. For example, one experience that earlyon convinced me to seriously consider genetics was a project involving the construction and characterization of a recombinant plasmid. Since I worked independently for the most part, the project played a key role in increasing my confidence and helping me to understand various concepts pertaining to genetic analysis. It was this experience that motivated me to seek a position as a teacher's assistant for a course in Microbial and Viral Genetics. As a TA, I learned how demanding the teaching situation is and how much teaching a course can contribute to my own learning. By this time, after discovering my passion for research and the joy of teaching, I began to seriously contemplate graduate schools. To excel in graduate school, I decided I would not limit my Experience to my formal education at RIT. Instead, I wanted the opportunity to explore my career options to make a well-informed decision as to the area of my future research. With these goals in mind, I chose to take advantage of RIT's Cooperative Education Program, which meant earning my Bachelor's degree in five years instead of four. In December of 1999,Astra Arcus USA Pharmaceuticals hired me as a research assistant in the Electro physiology department. At Astra, I learned research techniques not taught by RIT. Forthe past year, I have been working with a subset of neuronal glutamate receptors via voltage clamping on Xenopus oocytes. The research of our lab is geared toward the study of central nervous system diseases. Working with Astra and earning an education in biotechnology from RIT sparked my interest in learning more about the genetic basis of disease. On a personal level, I've gained quite a bit from my cooperative experience. Confident in my ability to adapt to new environments and learn techniques that I have never encountered, I have also learned a great deal about the nature of private-sector research and the lifestyle of the researchers. Familiar with the amount of dedication and hard work essential to project advancement, I am more focused on my goal of becoming an excellent researcher than I ever have been. No stranger to the frustration and disappointment inherent in research work, I am spurred on by the thrill of discovery. I find a great deal of enjoyment working in research and plan to stay at Astra through the summer of 2005.I feel that my course work as a Biotechnology major at RIT and my research experience at Astra have adequately prepared me for graduate study. Eager to continue myeducation and improve upon my weaknesses, I am particularly interested in becoming more familiar with emerging technologies relating to genetics and in gaining more exposure in working with eukaryotic genomes. Most importantly, I want to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to design and perform research according to my interests in genetics and disease. With these broad interests and specific goals, I am very attracted to the Graduate Program in Genetics at Duke University. With great flexibility in choosing a degree, the program would suit me well. At Duke, I would welcome the opportunity to explore my interests in Cell Biology, Neurobiology, Pharmacology, and Cancer Biology. I am also interested in learning more about possible involvement with the Duke Center for Human Genetics. My motivation to succeed is reflected in both my academic standing and my dedication to research. I feel that these attributes, combined with a profound interest in the Biological Sciences, will ensure me success as a graduate student at Duke University.。

Although I enjoy English Literature and Chemistry: I am especially keen to study Biology and Psychology. For me, the main appeal of the course lies in the variety of topics that will be covered. The aspects of Biology I find particularly interesting are neuroscience and how the immune system functions and responds. In Psychology, I am very interested in what makes people unique and how different factorsshape our personalityAt present I am employed at McDonald's where within one year of work I got promoted to aFloor Manager. Then I rapidly got promoted as a shift Manager. Being at this position it gives me numerous of responsibilities. For instance I am responsible for the whole resturant, ensuring the good communication flow exists between the crew members, correct procedures are followed, restaurant goals are achieved and ensuring that every customer gets 100%customer satisfactionThis experience especially allowed me to use my interpersonal skills to the full. In my reference, my employer remarked on my willingness to learn, my enthusiasm and initiative aswell as my ability to work independently and as part of a teamI have a variety of hobbies outside school. When time allows, I find playing football, tennis, and listening music, a change from my studies. I hope that this application indicates that I am apromising candidate.生物2009-10-10 11:21:41 阅读364 评论0 字号:大中小"Scientists investigate that which already is. Technologists create that which has never been."I chose engineering as a life pursuit because I wish to engage in both. This choice was enhanced by a personal yearning to apply all that I learn; I wanted to be able to implement my physical and mathematical abilities in real life situations. I feel higher education would enableme to realise this aim.Although all aspects of physics and engineering intrigue me, I am particularly interested in the medical application of these two disciplines. When considering which field I might enter Irealised that the only discipline that appealed to me, other than engineering, was medicine.Having researched the crossover between medicine and engineering I decided thatbioengineering provided the perfect blend. In order to improve my grasp of A-level Physics and Mathematics, and develop a better understanding of the options available to me in Higher Education, I have made extensive useof the online lectures of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I was particularly receptive to the teaching methods of the Physics lecturer, Professor Lewin.Supplementary reading has widened my horizons and encouraged me to examine elementsabove and beyond the A-level course. Some of the books I have encountered include 'A Brief History of Time' by Stephen Hawking and also 'Mr. Tompkins in Wonderland' by Nobel Prize winner, George Gamow. The latter was more than simply 'a physics book' to me - the presentation of the physical principals within a love story proved to be extremely captivating.Following the debate regarding students' declining abilities and the 'dumbing down' of theA-levels I have undertaken a study of material from the older, and in my opinion more challenging, 1996 syllabus. Books such as 'Essential Principles of Physics' by Whelan andHodgson have been particularly enlightening in this respect.I feel that theoretical concepts are easier to understand and more easily absorbed when theyare tangible and therefore I have applied to the Year in Industry scheme, hoping that this will enhance the application of my mathematical and physical skills. Due to personal issues duringthe A-level exam period I was unable to achieve my potential and did not meet all my predicted grades. In order to amend this I have chosen t o retake some modules during my gap year whilst at the same time studying a new subject and expanding my language skills.I consider that my multicultural upbringing, including 12 years in Japan, Dubai and the Sudanhave led to me being a well-rounded and colourful person. As a consequence of this time I benefited by gaining knowledge about different traditions, an insight into diverse cultures, anda furtherance in my linguistic abilities. This granted me the ability to adapt to different environments swiftly and comfortably, which would explain my enthusiasm for meeting newpeople. Moreover, the contrast in the living standards in these different environments hasshown me the importance of science and technology in our lives.Professionals have confirmed for me that bioengineering is an intellectually challenging field, requiring commitment and motivation. I have always believed in fully devoting myself to all thatI do, and with my particular interests and experiences, I feel that only an opportunity to studybioengineering at university will enable me to express my abilities in their entirety.生物个人陈述模板生物2009-09-17 10:32:31 阅读344 评论1 字号:大中小I will never forget my experience of working alongside doctors to fight against the horrible disease, AA, inChina in 200X. This work taught me the great impact of disease control and prevention and motivated meto apply for the biostatistics program at Yale University, with the ultimate career goal of becoming aninfluential professional or researcher in the field. I firmly believe that my constant thirst for knowledge, high regard for the work in the biomedical and public health fields, and my courageousness will drive mygraduate studies and help me achieve personal and professional success.I first became interested in biostatistics when the AA epidemic breakout in China in 200X. As a memberof the University Red Cross Association, I was responsible for assisting the university hospital topublicize disease prevention methods, distribute medicine, and complete health surveys. I learned fromthat process the value of survey dates in supplying useful strategies for disease prediction, preventionand control. Afterward, when I served as Vice President of the Student Union, I organized an introductorylecture and health survey about hereditary disease for the local community. I truly enjoyed thesevoluntary public health services, as I was able to use my knowledge to enhance the quality of life for myfellow man. These achievements gave me the determination to fully devote myself to public healthservices and global health care development. My academic training to this point has provided me with a wide range of general knowledge and skillsrelated to the biological sciences. This training is an excellent first step in preparing for the professionalcareer that I desire. As an undergraduate student in bioengineering at BB University, I acquired a solidfoundation in the theoretical concepts associated with genetics, molecular biology, immunology, andbiochemistry. I also gained knowledge in the several areas of industrial significance, includingbio-products, fermentation, and biotechnology. In addition to the comprehensive studies in my major field,I received as well extensive training in mathematics and computer science, both of which were of greatbenefit to my study of biostatistics, an important area in various industrial and scientific research efforts. For example, as I learned during my summer internship as an Assistant Researcher at the DDPharmaceutical Company in 200Y, biostatistics has a vital role in the development and marketing of newmedicines, in the control of the quality of products, and in the tracking of consumer trends, attitudes andpurchases. I have also worked as an undergraduate research assistant for a map-based cloning projectin the ZZ Biology Center, where I used statistical methods to develop WW genetic markers and tocalculate the probabilities of recombination. These hands-on training activities gave me a clearerunderstanding of and a deeper insight into the biostatistics of biological and clinical problems.I look forward to furthering my knowledge of biostatics at Yale University. Indeed, I believe that Yale’s dynamic environment coupled with the emphasis placed on both statistics theory and real-life biologicalissues in the biostatics program will prepare me well to stand out in future competition. Therefore, mywell considered decision to choose your program will certainly help me realize my dreams. Tough memories played a key role in my decisionI am determined to pursue graduate studies engineering in a large part because both of mygrandmothers died because the hospitals did not have the facilities to give them prompt diagnosis andeffective treatment. My paternal grandmother suffered from cancer, but he doctor did not know it wascancer until was already to late. A few years later, m y maternal grandmother passed away because of asudden heart attack. To this day, my mother’s words at her funeral till echo in my ears:“If only she could wear a portable monitor for heart disease, and if only there was a portable cardiac pacemaker in theambulance.”On the strength of my strong performance in the 1994 National University Entrance Examinations, I wonacceptance into the Tsinghua University, China’s top engineering school. Without any hesitation, I choseto major in biomedical engineering in its Department of Electrical Engineering. In making that choice, Ihoped that, one day, I could be more of a help to patients than doctors, since a doctor treats patients oneat a time, but the more effective medical devices I develop can help many peopl e all the time.2. My solid academic recordWith a clear objective in my mind, I made myself a “gifted student” recognized by the department. In myclass of 32 students, I was consistently a top student. My GPA for basic courses was 3.75/4.0 and myGPA for specialized courses was as high as 3.87/4.0. In my second year in Tsinghua University, myacademic ranking and comprehensive ranking were both the highest in my class, and I was awarded thefirst ranking excellent student scholarship that year. I was particularly strong in mathematics and physics, which I took as fundamental to every branch of science and technology.3. My independent research abilityAs a recognized gifted student, I was one of the first students in my year to be given the opportunity oftaking part in actual research. In July 1996, I joined the research group for biomedical instrumentationand signal processing, led by Professor Cheng Jiajie, a noted Chinese term EEG signals. A joint projectbetween Professor Cheng and the National Research Center for Engineering and Technology onAppliance for Medical Treatment and Health Care, the system was to consist of two sub-systems. Onewas for sampling and recording the EEG and other physiological signals, and the other was for reviewingand analyzing the signals. I was involved in the development of both.I first built a double-T band-stop filter network for ultra-weak signals to serve as an essential part of theEEG hardware. As brain waves are extremely weak signals, only from tens to hundreds microvolt, thewhole system, including the filter network, had to meet extremely stringent standards. I designed thecircuit and its components meticulously. After painstaking efforts, I successfully set up the filter network. After that, professor Cheng assigned me to perfect the clinical EEG software in recognition of mycomputer skills. In a Windows-based EEG review and analysis software system, I integrated variousfunctions of automatic and manual data scrolling, annotation, grouping, montage, blo ck marking, datadiscarding and transferring into diskette, filter design and filtering, compress spectrum array, brainelectrical activity map, power spectrum estimation, twelve quantity EEG analysis and statistics. Thiscleared away a major hassle for doctors working in the hospitals. The software system also adoptsbackground data loading and re-sampling of data while displaying to speed up the scrolling process andreduce the doctors’ waiting time.Through this project, I was solidly trained in independent research, much more so than most of myclassmates.4. Extracurricular activitiesI was a good student not just because I studied well but also because I actively involved myself in avariety of activities. In these activities, I not only honed my leadership and communication skills but alsoacquired a pioneering spirit and the ability to do teamwork. For much of my undergraduate studies, I served as a member of the student union council. In 1995 and1996, I was elected the monitor of my class. Under my leadership, my class was chosen “A Class ofGood Academic Atmosphere”, a designation given to only the best group of students. To take advantage of my leadership and communication skills, the department appointed me a counselor to first-yearstudents in the school year between September 1996 to July 1997. In this position, I advised thefreshmen on the choice of courses and adaptation to the university life.Interested in the cultural and recreational activities, I helped to organize, in 1995, the Firs t Beijing OperaCompetition in Tsinghua University. In December 1996, I organized and participated in making the firstmusic video for our class as our contribution to the department’s art festival, and it won a second prize. What I like to emphasize is that I was one of the founders of the Biomedical Club in our department. Thepurpose of it is to spread knowledge and exchange ideas in the rapidly developing biomedical world.During the past three years, we successfully fulfilled our goal by means of regular seminars as well asvisits to various academic institutions and hospitals.I became even more active in extracurricular activities after m third undergraduate year. In January 1997,I went on a trip to ShenZhen, China’s first and most successful “special economic zone”, as part of a social investigation group. The far-reaching economic and technical reforms taught me a lot outside mydiscipline. From June to August 1998, u worked in the IBM China Research Laboratory on localizationand system testing for IBM WorkPad Chinese Applications. It was an extraordinary experience for me. I not only tested myself in real research, but also I learned about advanced technology and thinking.During this time, I attended the IBM Research Summer Jam 98, which was an event for IBM Research’s supplemental and summer student employees to get together and explore the future of computing. Mycreativity displayed in this Summer Jam won acclaim from IBM Senior Vice President Dr. Paul Horn.I believe that the team spirit, communication skills and other qualities I acquired in thee activities will beconducive to advanced research in an American university.5. Solid command of EnglishAlthough not an English major, my English proficiency is comparable to that of English majo rs in Chineseuniversities, as demonstrated by my high grades in both TOEFL and GRE. I do not just know the English language well. I can communicate as effectively in English as I do in Chinese. I believe that goodcommunication and writing skills are indispensable to a successful researcher or engineer. My TWEscore is 5.5, which is especially high for Chinese students, and my oral English is good, too, as I havemany a chance to talk with my parents’ foreign colleagues and exchange different ideas and inf o rmationwith them when they come to China. I will take TSE this October and I am confident that I will get anotherhigh score.6. Why I decide to pursue my study abroad?Although studying in Tsinghua University has solidly grounded me for an engineering career, I have forlong felt the urgency and responsibility to study abroad. From my personal experience, I realize, franklyspeaking, that China’s biomedical engineering is not yet developed enough. I remember that, inSeptember 1997 when I went to Beiji ng Recovery Center for “social investigation”, I found all theadvanced recovery and nurse appliances displayed and used there were made abroad and the expenses were too high for ordinary people. To give you another example, the EEG system currently made i nChina for clinical use requires electrode check-up before operation. This always brings patients suffering because the nurses have to rub the electrode heavily on their scalp for about half an hour for ideallocation. One day, a professor there brought us an EEG system imported from California, U.S.A. Thissystem not only solves the old problem, but also sets up a new detecting function for brain’s cognitionability. From these and other things, I know that the United State has the advanced technology an d thus theoriginal ideas, but China has quality researchers like me who can learn to do as well. I feel that I have nottaken the full advantage of my intellectual capabilities. I wish to pursue more advanced studies and thenimprove my country’s biomedic al situation. Only by doing this can I feel better when I recall my childhoodmemories, memories of my grandmothers dying needlessly. Only by doing this can I fulfil my ultimate aimdinary people correct and timelyto make biomedical appliances part of everybody’s life, to help provide ortreatment and care for their illness.I have inherited from my parents’ intellectual qualities. My father, a professor of Physics at the BeijingUniversity, and my mother, a senior engineer of Physics with the Chinese academy of Sciences. Havebestowed on me the character of diligence, resolution and perseverance as well as the ability tounderstand new things quickly. They have both been to several universities in U.S.A. as visiting scholars. So when I was young, I had some knowledge of universities in United States. My older brother pursuedhis graduate studies in MIT, where he obtained a Master of Science Degree in physics in 1992 and a Ph.D. in the Division of Health Sciences and Technology in 1996. By realizing his achievement, he has givenme tremendous encouragement and confidence because I know that I am as excellent as he is.7. I think Cornell University is an ideal place for me.Graduate studies should be both intellectually exhilarating and challenging. But to decide whichuniversity to attend is one of the biggest decisions in one’s life. Keeping these in mind, I consider Cornell University as my First Choice. A world-famous top-notch university, Cornell has a world-class faculty, advanced research facilities and a stimulating academic atmosphere, all very conducive to thedevelopment of my potential into actual ability. If I am accepted, I will Instrumentation and Diagnostics aswell as Biomedical Mechanics. My solid academic foundation, independent research ability and strongbackground in biomedical engineering and related subjects, coupled with my determination and strongsense of responsibility, have paved the way for me to undertake advanced studies at an institution ofhigher learning like yours.生物学个人陈述生物2009-09-07 08:36:18 阅读224 评论0 字号:大中小Why should I select biology as my career? Born in a medical family for generations, I was very interested in all over around, especially in living organisms and I came into a habit of watching, touching, feeling and protecting them who become my favorite friends later. Life science is much more intriguing and fascinating to me when I made endeavor to represent Shandong Province 400,000 high-school students to go to Beijing to take part in the National Biological Olympic Context, a Pick-Out for the International Biological Olympic Context. As a result, I selected Biotechnology, the foremost interesting field in Biology, as my college major when I won acceptance into Department of Biotechnology in the College of Life Science at Peking University, the best university of China.Upon acceptance to Peking University in 1996, I was awarded consecutive scholarships for all 4 years in college. During my college years, with the systematic education, I obtained a solid academic background in chemistry and basic biology science especially in experiment skills as a preparation forfuture advanced research, which is also, the basis for me to do my current research project at the lab.Due to my outstanding experiment skills, in the third year of my undergraduate study, I was recommended to the State Key Lab of Microbial Resource, Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Science, which only 2% the students can get in, to do research on the structure and character of a new family of DNA-Binding Protein from the Hyperthermophilic Archaeon Sulfolobus Shibatae(extreme environment). And independently I have been dedicating in the interaction between DNA and DNA-Binding Protein by Gel Retardation Assay, Nick Closure Assay and EMSA. This project provided mewith not only considerable experiment experience including bacterial culture, expression of recombinant, and western blotting etc, but also how to plan an experiment, by consulting papers, seeking optimal conditions and selectingappropriate methods. Now my partners and I have made a great achievementnserved DNA-Binding Proteinof this project and we have a paper, “A Highly Cofrom the Hyperthermophilic Archaeon Sulfolobus Shibatae Affects DNA Supercoiling in a Temperature-Dependent Fashion”, which will be published inthe NUCLEIC ACIDS RESEARCH(4.488) in the nearer future.Furthermore, I have once, as a co-operator, helped other group investigate Archaeon ssh7 DNA binding protein and DNA interaction. With the experiment process, I am proficient in PCR and RT-PCR, southern and northern blotting, cell in-situ blotting, CsCl density gradient centrifuge, expression of recombinant protein, FPLC, protein purification and protein/enzyme activity assay, etc.In addition to academic studying and lab training, I benefit much from my college life. I joined the Green Life Association, one of the best student organizations in Peking University, and had been the minister of propagationfor one year. The job has deepened my love for lives and improved my responsibility both for group and for the well-being of our earth. Moreover, allthe many-sided pleasant experiences and excellent records are a great treasure to me, giving me high confidence and independence. Why to go abroad to pursue Ph.D.? I’m always thinking that the research of life sciences is not only interdisciplinary but also international. Besides the advanced technology, I hope to fuse the analytic way of the east and west. SoI’d like to go abroad for advanced studies after my graduation in July of 2000.And besides, it is to make more research achievement in the life science andat the same time, fulfill my keen dream of standing on the foremost frontline inbiology science. Why to choose your University as my graduate school? It isthat she is one of the most highly regarded universities in the world and is anideal place for ambitious youth. Why to select your program? With my experiment skills and broad academic background, I am more and more certain that I am well prepared for the further exploration into your respected program, which is very promising in the modern biology. Despite the highly competition of your admission, I still regard your research program as myfuture struggling goal.At the time being, I think I am honest, intelligently mature and psychologically ready for this goal and I believe that I can accept the challenge and will surely make success in the end. Would you accept me as one of the members of your program to fulfill my dream? I hope I can contribute my strength and intelligence to your program. You are sure to find that your investment on me is really awarding and worthwhile.Sincerely yours,Yunfei Wen。

My employment history provides me with a wealth of experience to offer to the medical profession. For example, my strong communication skills have been continually demonstrated through presentations in front of up to 150 people, as well as strong leadership qualities in order to deliver time-critical projects. During my tenure at PGL Holidays I gained great satisfaction from my involvement in the organization of evening activities for children, having a direct impact on their enjoyment. Maintaining a balance between this and their personal safety was always one of the more challenging (yet rewarding) aspects of the job.2019SUCCESS

To affirm my decision, I have recently spent time observing a consultant vascular surgeon and his team throughout the full cycle of patient care. I have enjoyed talking to patients about their illness and observed several procedures including a carotid endarterectomy and bypass operation. The insight into human anatomy is fascinating and finds that I definitely have the stomach for my chosen vocation! More importantly though, the opportunity provides me with a valuable perspective on hospital life; it is unglamorous, sometimes heartwrenching, but confirms beyond any doubt that this is where my future lies. In addition, I have spent every Thursday evening since April in the wards of a Hospice in Clapham. By talking to the elderly, helping them to eat and drink and even placing bets on their behalf at the bookmakers, I have been able to appreciate the importance of palliative care. For practical experience I have attended a first aid course run by the British Red Cross.

生物专业个人陈述PS(本站推荐)第一篇:生物专业个人陈述PS(本站推荐)Statement of Purpose Jing Li(My application ID: 1075276;UT EID: jl49345)For Graduate Program of Cell and Molecular Biology, the University of T exas at Austin As I sat in an image processing room of my lab, clicking away at the in situ hybridization(ISH)figures in front of me, I glanced at the mouse embryo sections one by one. They displayed the process of mice development, the expression pattern of Zfp521, Aqp1, AB063319, etc.in mouse embryos, and the chronological appearance of organs and tissues respectively. Was it possible that the formation of complex mammalian structures, thousands of years of evolution and the miraculous appearance of life had been encrypted into these seemingly simple images? I had to wonder: why does the development of embryos need to go through such a complex process, rather than discarding previous forms and directly developing mammalian characteristics?“Biology,” I answered i nstinctively when asked to choose my major.I was intrigued by biological phenomena as a child, and the seemingly mystical precision of it filled me with questions. Why do pandas and rabbits, similar as juveniles, grow into two very different organisms? Why are our visual experiences distinctly different from those of other organisms? Why can people talk, while orangutans, with similar anatomical configurations, can not? Being unsatisfied with any answer my parents could offer, I constantly sought relevant information from other resources. When the time came, I chose Biotechnology as my major in college without hesitation. There is a theory that the process of mammalian development in utero replaysevolutionary history: from a germ cell(like a monad), to germ layers(like coelenterate), to the appearance and disappearance of the branchial arch and tail(like in fish and amphibians), until the birth of a mammal with almost all mature organs and tissues.I wondered, why can’t mammalian traits be directly developed? Propelled by this question, I contacted one of my course instructors my freshman year, expressing the desire to enter the development lab and study this problem more actively. This instructor recommended I consult some reference books as preparation before conducting experiments independently. After more than a year of studying basic principles of experimentation in China and one year in South Korea working as an exchange student, I immediately went to the office of my current mentor, Prof.Wu.After a long talk, I successfully became one of the members of the laboratory of development at the Harbin Institute of Technology(HIT).With professional knowledge and experimental skills acquired during the previous two years, I adapted to the specific experimental rules of the laboratory quickly. My drive and commitment to excellence proved me worthy of the position. After only two weeks, I was granted permission to start my own project under the instruction of Prof.Wu: the identification of a novel imprinted gene and its expression analysis in mouse embryos.Through the collaboration between my lab and a bioinformatics program at Harbin Medical University,I found several genes that were possible to be imprinted, working towards identifying a novel imprinted gene.During the process of designing my project, I read a great deal of papers downloaded from PubMed and consulted Molecular Cloning(the third edition, J.Sambrook, D.W.Russel)and Manipulating the Mouse Embryo(the third edition, Andras Nagy,Marina Gertsenstein, Kristina Vintersten, Richard Behringer). With the above preparation and painstaking calculation of experimental period, I selected the most suitable and efficient contents as follows. The main sections of my project include 1)identification of a specific gene’s imprint ing status in seven organs(brain, tongue, heart, lung, liver, kidney and placenta)by sequencing directly, 2)performance of ISH on the slides of mouse embryos and Statement of Purpose Jing Li(My application ID: 1075276;UT EID: jl49345)For Graduate Program of Cell and Molecular Biology, the University of T exas at Austin placentas at E15.5, 3)performance of quantitative real-time RT-PCR(QRT-PCR)of this gene in seven organs, and 4)analysis of possibly influential mechanisms of the imprinting such as DNA methylation or histone modification. If needed, Northern Blotting would be performed in order to confirm the number of transcripts. As of now, I have completed all my experiments and am revising my paper to explain my findings, which I plan to publish in the near future. My operative skills and satisfactory results, as well as my commitment to meticulous scientific research have earned me the recognition of my research mentor, st semester, I got a chance to be the teaching assistant for “Identification of I mprinted Gene and Relative Function Analysis”, a class designed for all students including seniors, and was responsible for overseeing the student experiments.Being only a junior, I was honored by such recognition and opportunity to accept this task.During class, I showed the method of identifying another possibly imprinted gene using a specific restriction enzyme. It also allowed me chances to utilize my communicative abilities and social skills gained from extracurricular activities, such as hosting lectures held by myunion or being a teaching assistant for Michigan State University(MSU)Chinese Summer School at HIT.Aside from my project work, my stellar academic record at HIT conveyed my ability to excel in the biological sciences, and qualified me to attend a summer school of life science in University of Science and Technology of China(USTC)on full scholarship.I experienced advanced methodology from the professors of USTC and had the opportunity to use advanced technology, such as MRI and micromanipulation. The graduate students' knowledge and skills impressed me greatly and gave me the drive to seek a Ph.D.degree.Graduate school will enable me to develop new research skills and the solid academic background that I need to become a successful researcher.A Ph.D.program in Cell and Molecular Biology will not only cultivate and refine my interest in scientific research, but also equip me to deal with the challenges of Ph.D.programs with experimental operations in genetic, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, etc.I believe that I have all the necessary assets needed to be a good scientist;as far as my life’s priorities are concerned, devotion to mastery of the biological sciences is second to none.As for the future, I hope to work in academia as a researcher.I believe the University of Texas at Austin is the institution best capable of helping me reach this goal because it offers a superb method of study, stressing the importance of understanding and employing different modalities of treatment.I have interest in the study of epigenetics and hope to gain a greater understanding of such topics through future doctorate studies.I plan to specialize in epigenetic regulation including DNA methylation, histone modification and their effects on gene expression.I also recognize the value of exploring a variety of other orientations in biology, such as non-codingmicroRNA regulation in development, environmentally-induced epigenetic change, stem cell biology, etc.As the University of Texas at Austin also allows students to complete research rotations in at least three different faculty laboratories in their first year, it offers me several opportunities from which to choose, making the University of Texas at Austin an even more ideal school for me.

Ever since I accidentally burnt holes in my pyjamas after
experimenting with a chemistry set on my 8th Birthday, I have always had a passion for science. Following several hospital visits during my teenage years to explore my interest, the idea of a career that would exploit my humanity and problem-solving abilities always made medicine a natural choice. So why did I choose computer science? By exploring a secondary interest in IT, I sought to allow myself the time to carefully consider my motivations for following such a challenging career. Medicine has never been absent from my thoughts, and this combined with a lack of personal fulfillment as a web developer has continually amplified my desire to become a doctor. I take great pleasure in people and their diversity, and by combining my love of science with the interpersonal rewards gained from interacting with them, I hope to fulfill this ambition.

范文一:Ever since I looked at my first organism down a microscope I have had this arge to know what else is around me that I was not able to see with my naked eyes. The fascination of looking down a microscope and discovering many small organisms living without us knowing their presence makes one want to learn more about them.Know how they survive, how to destroy them,if they are hameful to us, and even know how to prevent them from coming back. This and the fact that there has being a growing number of deaths caused by cancer,a disease am sure that a cure will be found, one can’t stop and see what its doing to peoples lives.I believe studying this course will enable me to be close to finding its cure so as to bring joy to others.I chose to study in the United Kingdom because of its reputation of having the top research institute for diseases, IBMS. Education wise United Kingdom has the top universites of the world. While studying in the United Kingdom I also have a chance to improve my English language by intreracting and communicating with differnt international students from all over the world.I am currently studying a Univesity Foundation Programme at David Game College. I am taking Pure Maths, Statistics, followed by my major modules in Chemistry, Biology, Physics. The course will benefit me to succeed at university. After eventually gaining a Bachelor Degree in BiomedicalScience, this will also enable me in furthering my degree by doing Biomedical Engineering because I find the joining of engineering and life facinating. Both of this courses strongly appeal to me. Not only will both of this courses help me in the way of possibly completing my goal, I believeit will also help me as a person. In my spare time I enjoy reading a good medical mystery noval, drawing whatever I can, I play sports like basketball, football and a bit of tennis now and then.Even though some of my spare time activities do not deal with my course am ready to learn. At being social I would say am average. At times I do visit museums with my sister so as to get a feel of science. In conclusion, I would like to say I am a very ambitious, highly movtivated and enthusiastic person. Am ready for the challenges that are awaiting for me in university. I have the ability to succeed and strive for excellence in everthing I do. Am loking forward to studying this career fulfuliment degree which will enable me to achieve my goal that I know will have an impact on the world.范文二:The human body has always intrigued me, its diverse mechanisms providing complex antibodies that recognize foreign organisms such as viruses and bacteria. It’s these organisms that are working everyday and every night to maintain and sustain the way of life we so frequently take for granted. Its adaptation to this harsh world is quite extraordinary. With the correct medical influence the body may one day be impenetrable to disease. This belief alone inspires me to take on the challenge of medicine. The body still holds many secrets yet to be discovered, this motivates me to learn about the anatomy and physiology in more detail. Not only this, but the compassion and care needed to help patients makes me strive to complete myjourney to medicine. Studying the body’s systems and make up made me realize the fragility of the human body and the huge responsibility a doctor or scientist has. One missed judgment could be fatal. In my AS year I enjoyed Organic chemistry in module 3 the most as it was the most puzzling I had to piece together the answers from complex isomeric compounds to find the correct answers. Biology relates more on the anatomical and physiological side of Biomedicine. I rather enjoyed the circulatory system learning about the mammalian heart and its many fantastic uses. Chemistry and Biology have given me a large insight into the workings of the human body.To learn the complexity of the body and apply it to a patient successfully and to see the gratitude, I would imagine, is highly satisfying in a job like this. The work I need to put in for this career is great and I shall not forget that the rewards are also very great and not only inspiring but encouraging. The greatest challenge of all lies ahead and I look forward to tackling it. I recently went to work at a Dental Surgery. The whole week was spent shadowing the dentist to observe not only his clinical skills but his people skills, how he talked with patients, the safety measures he took to make absolute safety in the surgery. This enhanced my understanding of the health profession greatly and gave me an insight to future procedures in my health career. The year before, I worked in a laboratory for AstraZeneca, a major pharmaceutical company. The company focused on certain diseases such as obesity, diabetes and cardio inflammatory infections such as arthritis. My clinical skills were developed greatly as I learnt about a great deal of procedures and tests with agar plates, watching the results of bacteria multiplying. Throughout my time at AstraZeneca I frequently asked questions about a medical career and how thecompany’s involvement fits into the career. I talked to professors, doctors, PhD academics and team leaders gaining useful facts about medicines and clinical skills. They explained procedures for sterilization and how to prevent cross infections by explaining safety measures. Recently I have applied for a full first aid course with a company called Envico (November). My medical skills will be improved greatly as the course covers the basics on treatment to minor and a few major injuries. In December I will be attending a course at Imperial College, London. The course will provide a vital in sight to a career in health sciences as I will be taking part in lectures giving detailed explanations. In my own time I keep up to date with medical developments, I read the ‘New Scientist’ which I find to be very interesting at times. I am applying to my local hospital for voluntary work for more experience. I will be working one day a week shadowing doctors and watching different procedures that they go through. My subjects related to medicine are chemistry and biology. Both requiring me to maintain and hold a lot of information and apply it to complex questions.I look forward to studying at degree level and I am committed to a career that improves the health of others。

留学申请个人陈述-生物Biology Personal Statement-2

Personal statementThroughout countless centuries, great thinkers and philosophers have used Mathematics and logic to try and comprehend their surroundings using the limited resources and information available to them. In my opinion, ‘science’ has existed since those humble beginnings but was hampered by the ignorance or dogma of others. Although many of the mathematical proofs of this era have stood the test of time, until recently - with the introduction of the scientific method - we were unable to use truly sceptical analysis to foster an empiricism-based scientific community that is open to criticism. I’m very excited to study and have the opportunity to take part in this rapidly developing world of biology.I’ve always had a profound interest and respect for science and as such have read predominantly non-fiction. As my appreciation of the natural world grew I started to branch out and realise my more specific interests, most notably evolutionary biology. Inevitably it was The Origin of Species that crystallised my passion for biology into a desire to study it as a life-long career. A quote by Jared Diamond, known for his book ‘Guns, Germs, and Steel’ reads, “Biology i s the science. Evolution is the concept that makes Biology unique”. This is a statement I revere, because the understanding of evolution has allowed me to see the technical, complex side of nature as well as the ‘superficial’ beauty of the biological cosmo s.I’m a deeply analytical thinker, able to apply my knowledge and reasoning skills to efficiently problem solve; I believe that this is vital to the subject of biology which requires not only the ability to retain information but also to interpret it.Through my Maths and Physics AS Levels I have gained an understanding in not only the mathematical language but also the abstract thinking that is needed to solve complex problems. Physics has given me a new appreciation of the universe by revealing the fundamental rules that govern it and has answered many questions thatI’ve asked myself regarding the natural phenomena I have witnessed around me. I feel these subjects will provide me with a firm basis for my continued study of biology.Besides doing A Levels I have also travelled, paying my way by working. At the age of18 I left the county alone with the plan to spend a year working in Australia, in practiceI ended up almost completely circumnavigating the continent. This was entirely funded from the nine jobs I had during that time. I used the money I had saved to subsequently spend two months in India, and one in Southeast Asia. This year of my life was invaluable to me, teaching me to live and think independently. I also broadened my knowledge and opinions on a variety of subjects, from social and political matters to environmental issues and cultural differences, also motivating me to learn German from fellow travellers I met to a near fluent level. Since returning to England, I have visited Germany twice and visited five eastern European countries.I am enthused by the variety of careers the study of Biology can open up to me, whether it is research and development or a more business related job that requires a technical knowledge in biology along with the skills gained from my studies.。

Dear Sir or Madam:In my capacity as the chairman of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department, the School of Life Science, Nankai University, I deem it a pleasure to recommend Mr. Bruce Liu as a worthy candidate for graduate studies at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology of your esteemed university.Over the past four years, I delivered two important courses Genetics and Cell Engineering to the Mr. Liu‘s class and his performance was impressive. He is endowed with a strong curiosity in the quest for new knowledge. Before attending each class, he would make full preparations so that he could quickly assimilate what was being taught. Sometimes he could come up with some surprisingly thought-provocative questions and he had a habit of discussing important problems with me in great detail. During those discussions, he often brought with him valuable materials that he obtained from a large quantity of technical literature. Such an initiative enabled him to broaden his ken of knowledge extensively and to cultivate and significantly improve his ability in reading technical literature in English and to follow the latest scientific and technological development in the world. Therefore, even before he graduated, he had already distinguished himself from the rest of his classmates in his English proficiency. Furthermore, his indefatigable spirit of reading large amount of technical materials was not simplyintended to secure high scores in his coursework, but more importantly, to satisfy his almost insatiable interest in biology.Apart from this, I was also very impressed by Mr. Liu‘s hands-on ability in conducting experiments. For many complicated experiments, he undertook them with a rigorous and conscientious attitude and would always complete them satisfactorily. In dealing with crucial steps involved in the experiments, he tended to make bold hypotheses and conduct substantial observations, ultimately achieving remarkable results. All those testify to Mr. Liu‘s tremendous potential in academic research, especially in his analytical skills and in the execution of experimental procedures. In addition to his scholastic aptitudes, Mr. Liu can be described as trustworthy in personality. His kind-hearted nature and his integrity have created many friends for him. By no means a bookworm, Mr. Liu took an active part in extracurricular activities in which he enhanced his group spirit and the sense of collectivism. His willingness to assist his classmates has brought him a very high reputation. To summarize, Mr. Liu has been an outstanding student in our department and he is fully qualified to undertake high-level studies in a more challenging environment. His excellent qualities will undoubtedly facilitate him in achieving satisfactory results in his future academic pursuit and in his career.Yours SincerelyProfessor and Chairman of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology DepartmentNankai University。
