The origin

Mayflower
五月花号（Mayflower）是英国移民驶往北美的 第一艘船只。以运载一批分离派清教徒到北美 建立普利茅斯殖民地和在该船上制定《五月花 号公约》而闻名。
分离派是英国清教中最激进的一派，由于受 英国国教的残酷迫害 ，1608年8月离开英国到 荷兰。1620年9月23日，在牧师率领下乘五月花 号前往北美。11月21日，于圣诞节后第一天在 普利茅斯地方上岸。在登陆前，由分离派领袖 在船舱内主持制定一个共同遵守的《五月花号 公约》，有41名自由的成年男子在上面签字。 此公约奠定了新英格兰诸州自治政府的基础。
