About xi’an

Huaqing Hot Springs is a well-known . It gets its fame for being the place where the r omantic story of Emperor Tangxuanzong of Tang Dynasty
and his beloved Yang Guifei took place.
As a matter of fact, the site had been as an imperial palace for emperors' short s tays away from the capital for more than 3000 years. Emperors of Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui and Tang dynasties spent the winter at this place every year.

The Bell Tower is the geographical center of Xi'an.The four main streets are Do ng Dajie, Xi Dajie, Nan Dajie and Bei Dajie .Those are the main commercial streets.
城墙 Circumvallation [sɚkʌmvæ'leʃən]
The City Wall of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) is the largest and most intact(完整的) Ming Dynasty castle in the world.
Traditional downtown Xi'an refers to the area encircled (环
绕)by the city wall, this has now been expanded to the second ring road .
大雁塔Great Wild Goose Pagoda
The Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayan Ta),is built in Tang Dynasty .It got name from a story.The monk lived here is too hungry,one goose falled down, these monks thought that the god wanted to help them.So they call this pagoda goose pagoda.
The original construction of earth with a stone on surface, eventually collapsed
[kə'læps] five decades later, but was rebuilt by Empress Wu Zetian ,she added five mor e stories. A massive earthquake in 1556 heavily damaged the pagoda and reduced it by three stories to its current height of seven stories.
One of the pagoda's many functions was to hold books and things of the
Buddha that were brought to China from Indiaby by Xuanzang, a famous Chinese Buddhist monk, scholar, traveler, and translator. Xuanzang is known for his 17 years trip to India and back, his adventure provided the inspiration for the epic novel “Journey to the West”.
小雁塔Small Wild Goose Pagoda
The earthquake shook the pagoda and damaged it so that it now stands at a hei ght of 43 m (141 ft) with 13 levels of tiers.
