合并法是把若干个短句合并成一个长句，一般用 于汉译英。汉语强调意合，结构较松散，因此简 单句较多；英语强调形合，结构较严密，因此长 句较多。所以汉译英时要根据需要注意利用连词、 分词、介词、不定式、定语从句、独立结构等把 汉语短句连成长句

正译法和反译法 —表达方式
这两种方法通常用于汉译英，偶尔也用于英译汉。 所谓正译，是指把句子按照与汉语相同的语序或 表达方式译成英语。所谓反译则是指把句子按照 与汉语相反的语序或表达方式译成英语。正译与 反译常常具有同义的效果，但反译往往更符合英 语的思维方式和表达习惯。因此比较地道。

英语长句翻译的步骤1“六步法”1 紧缩主干(捋出主句主语、谓语及宾语)。
2 区分主从(析出从句并捋出从句的主语、谓语及宾语以及修饰关系)。
3 辨析词义(特别是主干中的词义)。
4 分清层次(推断句子思维逻辑发展形式及重心)。
5 调整搭配(特别是主谓及动宾搭配，调整语序)。
6 润饰词语(选词、炼句并考虑文体的适应性)。
2英语长句的翻译方法英语长句汉译时，一般可采用以下几种方法：包孕法、切断法、拆译法、倒置法、插入法和重组法。
（1）包孕包孕就是指将英语后置修饰成分(包括各种词组或从句)在汉译时放在中心词(即被修饰成分)之前，使修饰成分在汉语句中形成前置包孕。
修饰词前置是汉语的正常语序。
因此，只要修饰成分不要过长，汉译后没有拖沓之嫌，我们可以尽量译成前置包孕，这样可以使句义十分紧凑，结构上整体感强。
但是，运用包孕法翻译时要特别注意包孕部分不宜过长，成分不宜过于复杂。
一般来说，汉语前置修饰语不宜超过25～30字。

浅析英语长句汉译一、顺译法所谓顺译法就是按照原句的顺序进行翻译。
这种翻译方法通常适用于英语和汉语在结构、顺序等相似的句型中。
例1. During a meeting with executives from 15 commercial banks on Monday， the PBOC emphasized that the banks improve their housing finance services and give priority to loans for first time homebuyers while keeping a closer eye on the associated risks.译文：周一央行召集了15家商业银行的主管开会，强调商业银行应改善住房金融服务，优先发展首套房贷款，同时加强对住房贷款风险的监测。
这个句子前面是that引导的宾语从句，后面运用了连词and 和while连词将整个句子连接起来，在进行英汉翻译时，这几个连词的承接意思和汉语的思维表达方式一致，因此类似这种句式在翻译时可采用顺译法。
二、逆序法由于英汉两种语言表达习惯不同，所以在进行英语长句翻译时要采用逆序法。
逆序法就是从句子的后面开始翻译。
在英译汉时对句子做些调整。
例2. In respect of mere luxury， it may be doubtedwhether there is not as much to be said for a bad memory as a good one.如果只讲享受的话，记忆力坏比记忆力好究竟差到哪里去，还真是大可怀疑呢！这句话在翻译时改变原句的语序，将“大可怀疑”放在了句尾，不仅符合了汉语的表达习惯，而且也将原文的悬念放到了句末，幽默传神。
三、分译法分译法就是将长句分成几个短句，然后再进行翻译。
这样既可以根据汉语常用短句的表达习惯，把英语长句翻译成短句，又能够清楚地表达原句的意思。
