Introduction

Ingam Crompton and Travis Building Society, known as ICT, were established in 1919. The company has a network of 30 branches that are based throughout the central belt of Scotland from Glasgow to Edinburgh. ICT has offered a range of products in the financial market. The company offers a range of current accounts, savings accounts and mortgage products. We are aware that the way that ICT works is inefficient, particularly in regard to its information and communication technology systems. At the same time, the company has not been keeping up to date with new information communication technology developments that could change the way that the company does business.

So,I hope that ICT Company can introduce some new technology, new results, and to help them improve work method, improve efficiency.

Analysis

Local area network (LAN)

A local area network (LAN) supplies networking capability to a group of computers

in close proximity to each other such as in an office building, a school, or a home. A LAN is useful for sharing resources like files, printers, games or other applications. A LAN in turn often connects to other LANs, and to the Internet or other Wide Area Network (WAN).

●Characteristics of a LAN include:

●Limited geographic operation

●High speed data transfer rates

●Full time connectivity to local services

●Generally lower in cost than a WAN

●Cabling is primary transmission medium

Wide Area Network (WAN)

Wide Area Network (WAN) is a computer network that covers a broad area (i.e., any network whose communications links cross metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries).

Characteristics of WAN:

●Connect Multiple LANs via an Ethernet Network

●Wide-Area LAN that utilizes a High-Speed Layer 2 Switch

●Layer 2 Level Advanced Securities

●Compatible with a Variety of Access Lines

Internet

The Internet, sometimes called simply "the Net," is a worldwide system of computer networks - a network of networks in which users at any one computer can, if they have permission, get information from any other computer (and sometimes talk directly to users at other computers). Today, the Internet is a public, cooperative, and self-sustaining facility accessible to hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Physically, the Internet uses a portion of the total resources of the currently existing public telecommunication networks. Technically, what distinguishes the Internet is its use of a set of protocols called TCP/IP

Characteristics of the Internet

●The Internet is a network of the network; it can be connected to a computer and

sharing network protocol (TCP/IP).

●The Internet can let information stored in file or files, and visit another computer.

●The Internet not only is a computer network, the more important it is a huge,

practical, can enjoy the source of information.

●Internet is the first global BBS, the first global library, anyone, at any time, any

place can join in.

In the LAN throughout the enterprise unit and management each link, have the following function:

●Make the enterprise management and decision makers at each link operation
