This bar chart shows the changes in the amount of oil discovered worldwide every 5 years from 1950 to 2005 and the predicted figures from 2010 to 2020.
In 1950, world oil discovery stood at 20 million barrels a year, which grew dramatically over the next 15 years to reach a peak of approximately 56 million barrels in 1965. However, from this year onwards, the growth of oil discovery was suddenly replaced by a sharply downward trend, with some ups and downs, to about 6 million barrels in 2005, about 1/ 10 of its peak amount in 1965.
It is predicted that 7 million barrels of oil will be discovered worldwide in the year 2010, and this figure is forecast to decline steadily to an all-time low of only 3 million barrels in 2020.
In conclusion, this chart shows that world oil discovery peaked in 1960s but has been declining for over 40 years, and this trend is expected to continue into the near future.

The line chart shows the increase in the number of visitors to and from the UK from 1979 to 1999, and the accompanying bar chart lists 5 most popular countries for UK travelers to visit.
In general, there were more British travelers to other countries than foreign visitors going to the UK, and the gap was widening over the 20 years. In 1979, there were only about 12 million outbound visitors in UK, which increased steadily until 1985. Since then, the growth became more dramatic, reaching a peak of 54 million in 1999. In comparison, the number of inbound visitors to the UK had a steady rise, ascending from 10 million to 24 million, which was just half that of the former group.
As can be seen from the bar chart, France and the Spain were the hottest scenic spots among British people, which attracted 11 million and 9 million visitors in 1999. Next came the USA, Greece and Turkey, with 4, 3 and 2 million respectively.
In conclusion, both visitors to and from the UK showed an upward trend over the 20-year period, and France and Spain were the most popular tourist destinations among British travelers.
