American Friendship It’s quite natural for Americans to move their home to different places. Very few people live in just one place for a life long time. That is why the Americans are always ready to make new friends. They often drop a visit to their new neighbors. And friendship will be established during chatting, taking an interested sports and small family parties. Americans are very independent. You\'d better not so curious about their privacies such as the salary, diseases, and marital status. Because It’s none of your business. If you try to find the privacy from an American, most probably, you will be regarded as immoral. Americans will be willing to help their friends. But most of the time, they hope that the helping would be concerning small things. It\'s maybe uncomfortable, even very strange, to shoulder much more so-called responsibilities for a friend. If your friend is an American student, never ask about his or her grades in school. It\'s not only because that American schools have no tradition to have a long remark list for all the students, but also, grades were a sort of PRIVACY.

”)/Steve and Yaser first met in their chemistry class at an American university. Yaser was an international student from Jordan. He wanted to learn more about American culture and hoped that he and Steve would become good friends. At first, Steve seemed very friendly. He always greeted Yaser warmly before class. Sometimes he offered to study with Yaser. He even invited Yaser to eat lunch with him. But after the semester was over, Steve seemed more distant. The two former classmates didn't see each other very much at school. One day Yaser decided to call Steve. Steve didn't seem very interested in talking to him. Yaser was hurt by Steve's change of attitude. “Steve said we were friends,” Yaser complained, “and I thought friends were friends forever.”

)/Yaser is a little confused. As foreigner, he doesn't understand the way American view friendship. Americans use the word "friend" in a very general way. They may ca ll both casual acquaintances and close companions “friends.” These friendships are based on common interests. When the shared activity ends, the friendship may fade. Now as Steve and Yaser are no longer classmates, their “friendship" has changed. In some c ultures friendship means a strong life-long bond between two people. In these cultures friendships develop slowly, since they are built to last. American society is one of rapid change. Studies show that one out of five American families moves every year. American friendships develop quickly, and they may change just as quickly. People from the United States may at first seem friendly. Americans often chat easily with strangers. But American friendliness is not always an offer of true friendship. After an experience like Yaser's people who've been in this country for only a few months may consider Americans to be fickle. Learning how Americans view friendship can help non-Americans avoid misunderstandings. It can also help them make friends the American way.

Rache l, who left her fiance at the altar on her wedding day, has come to New York and ends up living with Monica. It establishes early on in the season that Ross has been infatu ated with Rachel since the two characters attended high school. Several episodes rev olve around his attempts to tell her how he feels. Meanwhile, Ross‘s estranged lesbia n wife Carol is pregnant with his baby. This puts him and Ca rol‘s lesbian life partner, S
usan (played by Jessica Hecht), in an awkward position. When the baby is born at the end of the season, Ross, Carol, and Susan agree to name him Ben: after a nametag on a janitor‘s uniform worn by Phoebe. The episodic nature of the season sees the othe r characters having multiple dates, many of which go wrong (Monica dates a minor in one episode).
