Then, let’s talk about the story. In my imagination, the text of a class of people who are talking to a job for a living, no house, not enough deposits of young people. They have just a social soon, lack of life experience, no parental constraints. They hold the idea but did not enjoy pleasure in good time, financial support, and to DOSOMETHINPREVIOUSLYUNRELEASED. Appreciation of short stories
-------Hills Like White Elephants
"Hills Like White Elephants" is a short story by Ernest Hemingway. It was first published in the 1927 collection Men Without Women. "Hills Like White Elephants" is commonly studied in literature courses because, while brief and accessible, it contains ingenious symbolism, efficient and powerful dialogue, and it deals with universal themes applied to a controversial topic (abortion) which is explored without ever being explicitly stated. These elements combine to make the story an apt introduction to Hemingway's minimalist narrative style, as expressed in his Iceberg Theory. It also illustrates the extent to which setting can contribute to meaning in fiction.
THE CARARACTER:
1.The woman
The first the woman is romance and Literature. When she talks with the man ,she said:”They look like white elephants”.Instead, the man doesn't care.Thenthe woman is a sensitive, timid and moral person. When the man said,”Just because you say I wouldn't have doesn't prove anything”.The girl looked at the bead curtain. It reveals that the her inner rejects the decision, but she can’t said directly. She is a complicated role. But she made up hermind to do theaborlion last. Otherwise she would not have drunk somuch. In addition, she always usessnbjunctive moodto indicatethe baby tlling: 'we could have althis”,''we could haveeverything.”''we could get along.”Even if she is determined to do surgery, this does not contradict her feelings of guilt, regret and worry, because the reality let her iitlle choice of opportunity. But we should note that the baby is not the only one bite. It's really not anything. It'sjust to let the air in.' 'That's the only thing that bothers us. It's the only thing that'smade us unhappy.''I know we will. You don't have to be afraid. I've known lots ofpeople that have done it.'
VIEW
At first,I think we should know what is the"Lost Generation".Acording to the Internet, the "Lost Generation" is a term used to refer to the generation, actually a cohort, that came of age during World War I.The term was popularized by Ernest Hemingway who used it as one of two contrasting epigraphs for his novel,The Sun Also Rises.Variously, the term is used for the period from the end of World War I to the beginning of the Great Depression, though in the United States it is used for the generation of young people who came of age during and shortly after World War I,alternatively known as the World War I generation. It’s necesary to talk about the story.
2.The man
In my view,I don’t like the man .I think This man is a man who is irresponsible and cunning, and even does not love this woman at all. The man enjoys their lifestyle and wants it to continue. He pressures the woman to have an operation so they can be “just like before”she becomespfegnnt. He knows that she is reluctant, and he assumes she is canoemed about the operation itself.Like this:'Well, let's try and have a fine time.'
