After quitting the music. He began to focus on film performance and obtained remarkable achievements. 暂别乐坛后,他开始专注于电影,成就斐 然。 Whether of dramas(偶像剧、戏剧), comedies or action movies, he could shape a classical screen image in his own temperament and talent. 无论是文艺片、喜剧片亦或是动作片，他都 能挥洒自如，并以自己的气质和天赋塑造了一 个个经典的银幕形象.
On April Fool's Day 2003, Hong Kong, he suicided in his hotel, his death brought a heavy grief to China even the whole world. 2003年4月1日，香港，愚人节。 张国荣在酒店跳楼自杀。他的死 给香港、中国甚至世界都带来了 沉重的打击。 巨星陨落 ,夕阳之歌。那一晚， 全港无眠。从此，香港没有愚人 节。

Leslie Cheung (12 September 1956 – 1 April 2003), nicknamed elder brother (哥哥), was a film actor and musician from Hong Kong. Cheung was considered as “one of the founding fathers of Cantopop(粤语歌曲)”, and “combining a hugely ['hjudʒli] successful film and music career” 张国荣(1956年9月12日- 2003年4月1日), 绰号哥哥,是一个来自香港的电影演员和音乐 家。他被视为“ “粤语的开国元勋之一”,和 “电影和音乐生涯的成功结合”。
His last film named Inner Senses. The ending of the character played by him is very similar to his real life . 他的最后一部电影叫“异度空间”。他生命的结 束与他在里面饰演的角色十分相像。

With the film “Days of Being Wild ” ,he became the Hong Kong Academy [ə'kædəmi] Award winner, and Ning Caichen in “A Chinese Ghost Story” has become an image of the classical scholar which is difficult to go beyond in the century. 凭电影《阿飞正传》获得香港金像奖 影帝，而《倩女幽魂》中的宁采臣则成 为难以超越的世纪经典书生形象.

In 1995, Cheung signed a contract with Rock Records, returning to music as a singer.In 1997, Cheung held his first post-retirement concert series: World Tour 97.
