Bacon’s essays
Bacon’s Essays have been recognized as an important landmark in the development of English prose. Bacon’s essays are famous for their brevity, compactness and powerfulness. Yet there is an obvious stylistic change in the Essays. The sentences in the first edition are charged and crowded with symmetries ( 对 称 ) .The essays are well-arranged and enriched by Biblical allusions, metaphors and cadence(抑 扬顿挫的声调).
