Vegetarians

Motion:

This house will require all to be vegetarians.

SQ:

1)There are many types of vegetarians.Vegetarians, by today’s definition, are

individuals who do not eat meat, and other animal products, such as cheese and yogurt and any part of the egg.

2)Reasons of being vegetarians for the present vegetarians: most vegetarians

avoid animal products because of health issues(obesity,Diabetes), cultural or religious reasons.

3)The battle between vegetarians and non-vegetarians has a long history.

And the number of the vegetarians is increasing in today’s society. A study shows shocking results: vegetarian men reduced their risk of early death by 50%! Women vegetarians benefit from a 30% reduction in death.

Advantage of being vegetarians:

1.Physically:

1)Keep healthy.

According to the health study, the vegetarians tend to live heathier diet than non-vegetarians, especially the old generation. For middle-aged and old people, absorption and digestion of the body has been diminished significantly, overnutrition will only cause a variety of diseases, a vegetarian diet is good for their health.

2)reduce the risk of diseases.

The animal has many body waste inside, so when people eat the meat of the animal they will easily being infected by the virus in the meat.

Meat contains much cholesterol, and the cholesterol will cause high blood pressure or heart attack and some other sever diseases.

3)Longer average life expectancy.

According to the nutritionists’s research, vegetarians can live longer than non-vegetarians.

4)Keep slim.

Eating vegetables will make people have a good figure and keep slim. So it can decrease some unhealthy weight-losing products and can prevent people from becoming fat. So it is a good solution to the obesity crisis and increase people’s physical quality.

2. It is Cheaper for people to buy vegetables than meat.

No doubt the material of vegetable dishes is much cheaper than meat for citizens, so it will reduce the living burden of people.

3. It will add the love between human beings and animals.

No more animal killing will make people more compassionate and it is beneficial for the harmony of the society.

4. It is more sustainable and conform to the ecological principle.

The meat producing will cost more land than vegetables. It is said that the land for one pound’s beef can produce 10 pound’s vegetable protein. With the fast speed of population increase, it is necessary to require all to be vegetarians.

Disadvantage of being vegetarians:

1. Unbalanced nutrition will make people uncomfortable physically.

1)Can not enjoy the delicious food, and will get bored of the vegetables.

2)Affecting the sexual desire if being a vegetarian for a long time.

3)Eating vegetables for a long time will cause some diseases, like gall-stone.

2.Causing many unemployment.

If everyone becomes a vegetarian, the fish-farmer and pig or cattle raisers will lose their jobs, because people no longer need fish, pork, beef and other kind of meat.

3.Affecting the economic development

No meat life will make many industries disappear, such as animal husbandry, breeding industry, food processing industry and even many catering services. All these industries will go bankrupt and it will bring massive loss to the economy of the country.

3.Environment pollution/ Animal aquaculture pollution.

Producing meat costs more money and causing more pollution. The animal waste polluted the environment severely. The disposal of the animal waste does not woke well. And the processing industry of the meat also causes serious pollution.

4.Bad for some special group of people, like teenagers and the sports men. 1)Teenagers need more nutrition to keep normal development. And most of

the nutrition come from some microelements, which are rich in meat but fewer in vegetables. And lacking of those microelements is bad for the normal growth and development of the teenagers.

2)The sports lovers do a lot of physical exercises, so they need more energy

than ordinary people. And meat will provide a great deal of calories that the sportsmen needed. However, vegetables can not provide so many nutrition for these people who need a lot of energy in a short time.
