On the Alienated Human Nature in Lord of the Flies Abstract: Lord of the Flies is a masterpiece written by William Golding, a well-known British novelist and winner of the Nobel Prize for literature, which describes the evil and the potential struggle of good and evil in human nature at the loss of restraint. Golding is disposed to “human evil” and explores the serious topic by describing children’s innocence.In the story, Golding put those children in an isolated island, which is far away from the civilized world as well as without adults’control. The evil nature of human beings is presented with those children without the rule of civilization.Children’s changing from good to evil, signifies the outbreak of the primitive wildness. This paper aims to reveal human alienation through the confrontation between barbarism and civilization, and that suffering of human alienation applies to both adults and children. The human civilization appears to collapse at the first blow in face of barbarism and desire. The paper also aims to warn us to watch out for the darkness of our heart, as well as to arouse a better understanding of our own nature. At the same time, it also calls for the kindness and justice that should be carried forward forever and appeal to people to think about the future civilization.

摘要：当代著名英国小说家、诺贝尔文学奖获得者威廉﹒戈尔丁的代表作《蝇王》描述了在人们失去约束后所表现出来的人性恶以及善与恶之间的潜在斗争。戈尔丁倾向于“人性恶”的主题；《蝇王》借小孩的天真来探讨人性的恶这一严肃的主题。这部小说将一群天真的小孩放到了一个没有大人管制，完全脱离文明世界的荒岛上，最终小孩由文明世界的善转变为在自然环境中的恶，人性最原始的野性爆发出来。本文通过描写野蛮与文明的对抗揭示了《蝇王》中的人性异化；而作品中，无论是儿童世界还是成人世界都饱受人性异化所带来的痛苦，人类在野蛮和欲望之间表现的不堪一击，从而告诫我们要警惕自己内心中黑暗，邪恶的一面，同时也让我们充分了解自己的本性，更好的认识自己，呼吁发扬心中的善的一面，思考人类文明的未来出路。
