1.What can I learn from this?

Take responsibility for what went wrong.OK,so it was not all your fault—but some of it was.Successful people don"t make excuses or blame others.______Be critical but constructive.Try to look at the experience objectively.Make a list of the key things that happened.Analyze the list step-by-step and look for the learning points.

Did a boss, colleague or a friend see what happened? ______Most people do not ask for help because they believe it to be a sign of weakness rather than strength. It"s not.It shows that you are ready to learn and change.Any good friend will be happy to help.

4.What will I do next?

______ Will you try something similar or something different? Revisit your goals and objectives. This reversal has been a setback on your journey but think of it as a diversion rather than a halt. You can now reset your sights on your destination and plan a new course.

第4题【阅读理解】

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项

Different people use different languages. We Chinese speak Chinese, and, most of us are learning a foreign language. But there is another kind of language we need to know — the language of the body.

All over the world, people “talk with their hand, with their heads and with their eyes.” When Japanese people meet, they bow. When Indians meet, they put their hands together. What do American and British do? Americans are more informal (不拘小节的) than the British. They like to be friendly. They use first names, they ask questions and they talk easily about themselves. When they sit down, they like to relax in their chairs and make themselves comfortable. British people are more reserved (保守的). They take more time to make friends. They like to know you before they ask your name.

When British or American people meet someone for the first time, they shake hands. They do not usually shake hands with people they know well. Women sometimes kiss their women friends, and men kiss women friends (on one cheek only). When a man meets a man, he just smiles, and says, “Hello.” Men do not kiss each other, or hold hands. Even fathers and sons do not often kiss each other.

In the passage, the writer thinks that body language is ________.

A、useless

B、difficult

C、quite easy

D、important

Which of the following is right?

A、Different countries have the same body language.

B、Different countries have different body languages.

第5题【阅读理解】

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。

I wasn"t surprised when I read that actress Helen Hunt recently stated that she would never allow her young daughter to become a child star. Ms. Hunt is the daughter of a Hollywood technical director, and grew up in Hollywood. Now in her late 40s, she started acting and modeling when she was eight and has probably seen a lot over those years in show business.

She has had a successful career. She earned four Golden Globes and four Emmys. She also attained the top honor of her profession when she won the Best Actress Academy Award for her role in the 1992 movie, As Good As It Gets. Given those accolades, Ms. Hunt is successful. There is no doubt that her early experiences as a child star prepared her for what has been an outstanding adult career. Given those achievements, why would this star declare she"ll never allow her daughter, now at the age of six, to follow in her footsteps?

Everyone familiar with the entertainment scene is aware of the reasons for her attitude. Recent tabloid (小报) news headlines featuring the troubles of former child stars, among them Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and the late Gary Coleman, may answer the question. Although Ms. Hunt managed to become a successful grown-up star, she apparently believes she"s an exception.

What Ms. Hunt may be suggesting is that many very young stars go through unnatural childhoods on movie and TV sets. While they"re earning big incomes, they"re so pampered (纵容) by directors and praised by fans; they may get false impressions that their lives will always be that way. Then, within a few years, when faced with reality, they"re hurt and confused. After all the overwhelming affection, they find they can"t deal with the problems. That"s often when drugs and alcohol take over their lives.

Helen Hunt has some other reasons why she doesn"t want her daughter to be in the entertainment business. Many child stars can never make a successful transition to meaningful adulthood. However, as with many Hollywood movies, I believe there are both good and bad scenes about how it can be played out in real life.

According to the passage, Ms. Hunt ________.

A、started acting and modeling when she was a little girl

B、has been acting for about 40 years

C、is the daughter of a famous actor

D、started singing when she was eight

The underlined word “accolades” in Paragraph 2 probably means “________”.

A、difficulties

B、awards

C、salaries

D、opinions

The author thinks Helen Hunt"s success is mainly due to ________.

A、her hard work

B、the help of a technical director

C、her experiences as a child star

D、her talent and good luck

From the passage we can conclude that ________.

A、few child stars will succeed in the future

B、there is no way to save the entertainment business

C、the author has a different opinion about child stars

D、meaningful adulthood only belongs to non-child stars

第6题【阅读理解】

Students perform better when their instructors use hand gestures—a simple teaching tool that could generate benefits in higher-level math such as algebra(代数).

A study published in Child Development, the top-ranked educational psychology journal, provides some of the strongest evidence yet that gesturing may have a unique effect on learning.Teachers in the United States tend to use gestures less than teachers in other countries.

"Gesturing can be a very beneficial tool that is completely free and easily employed in classrooms," said Kimberly Fenn, study co-author and assistant professor of psychology at Michigan State University."And I think it can have long-lasting effects."

Fenn and Ryan Duffy of MSU and Susan Cook of the University of Iowa conducted an experiment with 184 second-,third-and fourth-graders in Michigan elementary classrooms.

Half of the students were shown videos of an instructor teaching math problems using only speech. The others were shown videos of the instructor teaching the same problems using both speech and gestures. In the speech-only videos, the instructor simply explains the problem. In the other videos, the instructor uses two hand gestures while speaking, using different hands to refer to the two sides of the equation.Students who learned from the gesture videos performed better on a test given immediately afterward than those who learned from the speech-only video.

Another test was given 24 hours later, and the gesture students actually showed improvement in their performance while the speech-only students did not.

While previous research has shown the benefits of gestures in a one-on-one tutoring-style environment, the new study is the first to test the role of gestures in equivalence learning in a regular classroom.

The study also is the first to show that gestures can help students transfer learning to new contexts—such as transferring the knowledge learned in an addition-based equation to a multiplication-based equation.

Fenn noted that U.S.students lag behind those in many other Western countries in math and have a particularly hard time mastering equivalence problems in early grades."So if we can help them grasp this foundational knowledge earlier," she said,"it will help them as they learn algebra and higher levels of mathematics."

Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?

A、How to Learn Higher-level Math Well

B、Simple Teaching Tools Used in Math Learning

C、Teachers" Gestures Boost Math Learning

D、Why U.S. Students Can"t Learn Math Well

Researchers explain their opinion in the educational psychology journal by ________.

A、setting down general rules

B、using a great many examples

C、making questionnaire survey

D、presenting research findings

What do you know about the experiment conducted by Kimberly Fenn?

A、The experiment was done with 184 students of the same age in elementary classrooms.

B、The students were divided into two groups and got different teaching methods.

C、Researchers drew the conclusion based on the only one test they did in the experiment.

D、Researchers had not done any research on the benefits of gestures before this one.

why do so many tourists go there?

London was named the world’s most popular city between July

and September 2013. It edged out other world-famous cities, welcoming

4.9 million visitors. Amazingly, this was an increase of almost 19.5 percent on

2012 — the year when the Olympics happened.

So can London’s success be explained? Well, maybe. As the

Anywhere in the city, you can often look around a great

Yes, but what about the food? Well, even if you don’t like

British food —and if you’ve never had real fish and chips, then perhaps you should wait until you’ve tried them — there is plenty of great food from all

over the world available in London’s many restaurants.
