Transitive verbs & intransitive verbs

Conclusion: 英语中按动词后可否直接跟________可把动词分成及物动词(transitive verbs/vt.)和不及物动词(intransitive verbs/vi.), 主要用法区别如下:

1、及物动词后必须跟宾语意义才能完整。e.g. He is sending flowers now.

2、不及物动词后不能直接跟宾语,若要跟宾语,必须在其后添加某个______然后再跟宾语。

e.g. He is listening to the teacher carefully.

3、大多数及物动词可用于被动语态,不及物动词不能用于被动语态。

Step 2 Usages of Transitive verbs (及物动词用法)

(1)主语+谓语(vt.)+宾语(n, pron, to do, doing, object clause)

(1) An American, Philo Farnsworth, made important _______________(breakthrough) in the

development of TV in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

(2) She said that someone must have been spying on _______(we) in the washroom.

(3) It was not until the early 1950s that most tape recorders began _________ (use) plastic tape

as they do today.

(2)主语+谓语+双宾语(间接宾语 IO+直接宾语 DO)

(1) The servant runs to get it and present the King the toilet paper.

= The servant runs to get the toilet paper and present it ________ the King.

(2) On my birthday she bought me a mobile phone as a gift.

= On my birthday she bought a mobile phone ________ me as a gift.

Tip:有些及物动词可以接两个宾语,即指人的____________和指物的___________。这两个宾语称之为双宾语。常见的可以接双宾语的及物动词有: give, pay, tell, show, send, bring, wish, teach, write, make, buy, pass, lend, return, hand 等。如果间接宾语

位于直接宾语之后,则由介词_____________等引出,成为介词间接宾语。

(3)主语+谓语(vt.)+复合宾语(宾语 O+宾语补足语 C) (n.; adj.; to do; doing; done; prep. phrase; adv.)

(1) This will soon make DVDs things of the past.

(4)及物动词的语态

(1) By the 1970s, video recorders small and cheap enough for home use ___________(introduce).

(2) My job with the UN _______________ (not pay) but voluntary.

(3) It reminded me of my time in Sudan, where several Doctors without Border staff _________________ (attack) as people tried to get the food.

Tip : 大多数及物动词都可以用于被动语态,但某些及物动词和动词短语不行。

1.表“拥有” 、“容纳” 、“缺少”概念时(_________, _________, lack):

e.g. He is good at his job but he seems to lack confidence.

The newly-constructed reservoir(水库) holds a lot of water.

2. 当句子的谓语动词是表示“适合”的及物动词,如 fit, suit 等时。

e.g. If we met at 2 o’clock, would ________ you?

I can never get clothes to ________ me.

3. 当表示“相互作用”时,如 equal, mean, resemble

e.g. No one _________ him in intelligence.

The two boys resemble each other in appearance.

4. 表“明白”时,如_________、_________。

e.g. The boy said, “I didn’t catch the last two words.

5. 表示事物自身属性的及物动词,通常用主动表被动。sell, wash, write,cut, open,lock, cook, shut 等,常与 well, easily, badly, smoothly 连用。

2) The pen writes smoothly. 译为:________________________

3) The door locks tightly. 译为:_______________________

6. 部分及物动词短语:lose heart, belong to, consist of 不能用于被动语态。
