Marriage is a bond that binds two separate individuals, who usually have their own ideas, habits and pet peeves. When two people decide to get married, they will together face many practical problems, like keeping the room tidy, when to go to bed and when to get up as mentioned in the interview. Lack of agreement or tolerance over how to handle such everyday problems may cause trouble in a marriage. The two parties need to talk about and tell each other what he or she expects just like what Tom and Linda have done. A marriage agreement that sets down home behavior rules will frequently remind the couple of what to do and what not to do. Although the agreement seems to cover everyday matters only, it really helps build a harmonious (和谐的) relationship that keeps the marriage going. To this extent, I think, to have a marriage agreement is a good idea.

I think a marriage agreement is ridiculous. Marriage is a bond of love that ties two souls together for as long as they live. The husband and wife are supposed to love each other, to be faithful to each other, and to share joy and sorrow through good times and bad. Marriage is sustained by mutual affection, trust and care, not by an agreement to observe some rules of behavior, such as those mentioned in the dialogue. These rules seem to be suitable only for roommates, not spouses. True, a marriage bound by such an agreement will have fewer quarrels over small things, but is such a marriage a happy marriage? If a marriage has to be saved by following the rules of when to go to bed and when to get up, it is a poor marriage indeed.

I think it is very natural for people to give first priority to economic status in choosing a spouse. We all know how important money is. Without money, we can hardly do anything. Lack of money in a marriage will cause problems to the couple. Even though the couple may have married for love, being always hard-pressed for money, love will soon be replaced by quarrels and endless worries over money matters. If this happens, can they live happily together? So I think it is very important to first consider if your future spouse is able to share the responsibility of supporting a family. If not, just wait.

The picture shows a newly-wed couple. Both the bridegroom and bride look very happy. In the west, the tradition is that the bride should be in white and bridegroom in black suit. We also see a big cake with three layers on a table and a knife in the woman's hand. The man holds the woman's hand and is ready to cut the cake.

This is a cartoon showing a priest performing a marriage ceremony to a young couple. But look at what he's reading! He lists what the wife should and should not do, leaving the bride popping her eyes in surprise. The bridegroom, on the other hand, is smiling with his eyes closed in content. I'm not sure what the cartoon is intended to mean. Maybe it is a criticism of the society, in which women should always serve the men.

I have seen enough films and TV plays about the police to know that the life of a police officer is not an easy one. It can be highly stressful because a police officer often has heavy responsibilities in his or her work, dealing with different types of situations, keeping order, fighting crime, and frequently putting his or her life in danger. It's certainly not a life everybody can handle.
