Abstract: In order to strengthen the reliability and stability of the switching power supply, the theoretical analysis and the simulation example verification for its transformer loss and temperature rise characteristics were studied, and a loss analysis and heat dissipation control method were proposed. Firstly, Ansoft Maxwell software was used to build a 3D model of the transformer to carry out the finite element analysis of the magnetic field. Secondly, the temperature rise and the air volume required for cooling under different loads were calculated, and the temperature field with Ansys software was compared. Finally, a 2 000 V/3 A load switching power supply module was used as an example to establish an actual model to verify the effectiveness of the thermal control. The results show that the loss of transformer in high-power and high-voltage switching power supply mainly comes from the winding loss and the core losses. Under natural cold wind conditions, the temperature rise is obviously high due to the poor performance of heat dissipation. Using the air volume results calculated by the analysis method described in this paper, the temperature rise of the transformer can be effectively controlled. This method can also be used to obtain the corresponding loss of the transformer under different load conditions and the resulting temperature rise, which can furtherly regulate the temperature.
