Ⅳ The First Continental Congress
In September 1774 ,colonial delegates from 12 colonies met in Philadelphia( 费拉德尔 菲亚)，the meeting known as First Continental Congress . Congress drew up the Declaration of Rights and Grievances that requested George Ⅲ to protect the right of the colonies and to redress the unfair treatment.

war with France , England took further steps to strengthen its control over the13 American colonies . (war debt),the English parliament passed some new acts, eg ,in 1764, the Sugar act ,in 1765, the Stamp act.

Colonies and England
■ For most of 17th century ,the English monarch and
parliament were locked in a fierce struggle for supremacy(无上权威). ■ The English monarch and parliament failed to formulate a well-founded and consistent policy for the colonies ,to say nothing of firm political control.

first declaration of human rights , it approached the problem of American independence from the angle of human right. It unequivocally( 明白的) upholds the principle of equality and freedom for all men.
● TO solve the financial problem

as the leading merchants , Sons of Liberty … who boycotted the new law ,often wandered through the street to make trouble ,and they raised the slogan of ” no taxation without representation ” .
The Declaration of Independence helped the colonists to see that there were times when people had the rights to revolt.
Ⅱ.The French and Indian war ( 1756 — 1763 )

Reason : In the spring of 1754 ,both
France and England tried to build the first fort at the forks of the Ohio (俄亥俄) river。 The English colonists started to attack the French troops in this region , this touched off the French and Indian war.

On the night of December 16,1773, a band of 50 men led by Samuel Adams ,boarded three British teabearing and dumped 340 chests of tea cargo into the sea,90,000 pound. The accident known as “Boston tea party ”
⑵ Aim :
The Second Continental Congress agreed to take steps to organize and equip an American arm and appointed George Washington commander; Congress also provided for asking help from other countries , especial France ,aimed at preparing for aimed struggles to protect their liberties.

first armed clash occurred in the Boston area on April 19,1775 .It was the first battle of the American Independence War .
