Today , Chinese classical poetry has been replaced by modern poetry , Due to the developed society and the fast pace of life , we lose the time and mood to enjoy nature and life . Let‘s share a passage expressed in different ways
And in translating , we have to chose among maintaining, image and meaning . When image is alone maintained , the reader may find it hard to undershand , when meaning is conveyed , by scarificing the image , the poem is inevitably lost its original feature and culture connotation.

Pithiness and Flexibility in Language

Chinese is a language loose in grammatical structure and free of tense, which leads to its pithiness and flexibility in form, while English is strict in grammatical structure and tense.
For example in translating “秋霜” in “不知明镜里，何处得秋 霜”, “autumn frost” is no wonder a word-for-word translation. Literally, the translation retained the image in the original poem, but for people who don’t know that autumn frost refers to people’s white hair, such an image is nothing special.

I think national culture is unique , to enjoy a culture, first is to find the correct method to appreciate it . So I think if translating Chinese classical poetry into English , not only it will lost its beauty also the foreigners can not kown our culture . If they really interest in Chinese classical poetry , they must learn chinese first .
