Part One Writing a Letter (150 words) (20 points)

You are asked to write a letter on behalf of the Department of your College to the Department of English of University Washington. The purpose of your letter is to explore the possibility of setting up a linkage between the two departments. You should state your purpose clearly for writing the letter. You should also mention that you hope exchanges between the two departments will be explored. Various ways of exchanges and detailed requirements are provided in the table below and you should include them in your letter as well.

Read the following the passage and fill in the blanks in the diagram that shows the steps of the preparation for an exam. Some of the steps have been filled in for you. Write your answers in the boxes, then transfer them to the answer sheet. This is a description of the process preparation for an exam.

As the day of the exam approaches, there are several thing you can do to make life easier.

Firstly, you should make sure that you get regular exercises. This will keep you fit and have a good sleep at night . If you can find someone who is also doing the exam and who is happy to work with you together. You two can organize quizzes for each other, and this will make the preparation process something enjoyable. Just before the exam, it helps to write short notes of the most important points on process of paper and look at them just before you go to bed. On the day of the exam, relax as much as you can. Have a proper breakfast and take some emergency snacks with you. Wear comfortable clothes and take your favorite pen and pencil with you. And don't forget your watch!
