Dear Dr. A:Enclosed is a manuscript entitled “” by sb, which we are submitting for publication in the journal of - . We have chosen this journal because it deals with - . We believe that sth would be of interest to the journal’s readers.3. Dear Dr. A:Please find enclosed for your review an original research article, “” by sb. All authors have read and approve this version of the article, and due care has been taken to ensure the integrity of the work. No part of this paper has published or submitted elsewhere. No conflict of interest exits in the submission of this manuscript, and we have attached to this letter the signed letter granting us permission to use Figure 1 from another source. We appreciate your consideration of our manuscript, and we look forwardto receiving comments from the reviewers.二、询问有无收到稿件Dear Editors,We dispatched our manuscript to your journal on 3 August 2006 but have not, as yet, receive acknowledgement of their safe arrival. We fear that may have been lost and should be grateful if you would let us know whether or not you have received them. If not, we will send our manuscript again. Thank you in advance for your help.三、询问论文审查回音Dear Editors,It is more than 12 weeks since I submitted our manuscript (No: ) for possible publication in your journal. I have not yet received a reply and am wondering whether you have reached a decision. I should appreciated your letting me know what you have decided as soon as possible.四、关于论文的总体审查意见1. This is a carefully done study and the findings are of considerable interest. A few minor revision are list below.2. This is a well-written paper containing interesting results which merit publication. For the benefit of the reader, however, a number of points need clarifying and certain statements require further justification. There are given below.3. Although these observation are interesting, they are rather limited and do not advance our knowledge of the subject sufficiently to warrant publication in PNAS. We suggest that the authors try submitting their findings to specialist journal such as –4. Although this paper is good, it would be ever better if some extra data were added.5. This manuscript is not suitable for publication in the journal of –because the main observation it describe was reported 3 years ago in a reputable journal of - .6. Please ask someone familiar with English language to help you rewrite this paper. As you will see, I have made some correction at the beginning of the paper where some syntax is not satisfactory.7. We feel that this potentially interesting study has been marred by an inability to communicate the finding correctly in English and should like to suggest that the authors seek the advice of someone with a good knowledge of English, preferable native speaker.8. The wording and style of some section, particularly those concerning HPLC, need careful editing. Attention should be paid to the wording ofthose parts of the Discussion of and Summary which have been underlined.9. Preliminary experiments only have been done and with exception of that summarized in Table 2, none has been repeated. This is clearly unsatisfactory, particularly when there is so much variation between assays.10. The condition of incubation are poorly defined. What is the temperature? Were antibody used?五、给编辑的回信1. In reply to the referee’s main criticism of paper, it is possible to say that –One minor point raised by the referee concerns of the extra composition of the reaction mixture in Figure 1. This has now been corrected. Further minor changes had been made on page 3, paragraph 1 (line 3-8) and 2 (line 6-11). These do not affect our interpretation of the result.2. I have read the referee’s comments very carefully and conclude that the paper has been rejected on the sole grounds that it lake toxicity data.I admit that I did not include a toxicity table in my article although perhaps I should have done. This was for the sake of brevity rather than an error or omission.3. Thank you for your letter of –and for the referee’s commentsconcerning our manuscript entitled “”. We have studied their comments carefully and have made correction which we hope meet with their approval.4. I enclosed a revised manuscript which includes a report of additional experiments done at the referee’s suggestion. You will see that our original findings are confirmed.5. We are sending the revised manuscript according to the comments of the reviewers. Revised portion are underlined in red.6. We found the referee’s comments most helpful and have revised the manuscript7. We are pleased to note the favorable comments of reviewers in their opening sentence.8. Thank you for your letter. I am very pleased to learn that our manuscript is acceptable for publication in Cancer Research with minor revision.9. We have therefore completed a further series of experiments, the result of which are summarized in Table 5. From this we conclude that intrinsic factor is not account.10. We deleted the relevant passage since they are not essential to the contents of the paper.11. I feel that the reviewer’s comments concerning Figures 1 and 2 result from a misinterpretation of the data.12. We would have include a non-protein inhibitor in our system, as a control, if one had been available.13. We prefer to retain the use of Table 4 for reasons that it should be clear from the new paragraph inserted at the end of the Results section.14. Although reviewer does not consider it is important to measure the temperature of the cells, we consider it essential.15. The running title has been changed to “”.16. The Materials and Methods section now includes details for measuring uptake of isotope and assaying hexokinase.17. The concentration of HAT media (page12 paragraph 2) was incorrectly stated in the original manuscript. This has been rectified. The authors are grateful to the referees for pointing out their error.18. As suggested by both referees, a discussion of the possibility of laser action on chromosome has been included (page16, paragraph 2).19. We included a new set of photographs with better definition than those originally submitted and to which a scale has been added.20. Following the suggestion of the referees, we have redraw Figure 3 and 4.21. Two further papers, published since our original submission, have been added to the text and Reference section. These are:22. We should like to thank the referees for their helpful comments and hope that we have now produced a more balance and better account ofour work. We trust that the revised manuscript is acceptable for publication.23. I greatly appreciate both your help and that of the referees concerning improvement to this paper. I hope that the revised manuscript is now suitable for publication.24. I should like to express my appreciation to you and the referees for suggesting how to improve our paper.25. I apologize for the delay in revising the manuscript. This was due to our doing an additional experiment, as suggested by referees.Date: ***Dear Editors:We would like to submit the manuscript entitled “***”, which we wish to be considered for publication in ***.We certify that we have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for the appropriateness of the study design and method, and the collection, analysis, and interpretation of the data.We have reviewed the final version of the manuscript and approve it for publication. In this paper, we repo rt an unexpected, acute effect of GDNF on A-type potassium channels, leading to a potentiation of neuronal excitability, in the dopaminergic neurons in culture as well as in adult brain slices. Further, we show that GDNF regulates the K+ channels through a mechanism that involvesactivation of MAP kinase. Thus, this study has revealed, for the first time, an acute modulation of ion channels by GDNF. Our findings challenge the classic view of GDNF as a long-term survival factor for midbrain dopaminergic neurons, and suggest that the normal function of GDNF is to regulate neuronal excitability, and consequently dopamine release. These results may also have implications in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.Due to a direct competition and conflict of interest, we request that Drs. XXX of Harvard Univ., and YY of Yale Univ. not be considered as reviewers. With thanks for your consideration, I amSincerely yours,case2Dear Editor,We would like to submit the enclosed manuscript entitled "Ca2+-binding protein frequenin mediates GDNF-induced potentiation of Ca2+ channels and transmitter release", which we wish to be considered for publication in Neuron. We believe that two aspects of this manuscript will make it interesting to general readers of Neuron. First, we report that GDNF has a long-term regulatory effect on neurotransmitter release at the neuromuscular synapses. This provides the first physiological evidence for a role of this new family of neurotrophic factors in functional synaptic transmission. Second, we show that the GDNF effect is mediated by enhancing the expression of the Ca2+-binding protein frequenin. Further, GDNF and frequenin facilitate synaptic transmission by enhancing Ca2+ channel activity, leading to an enhancement of Ca2+ influx. Thus, this studyhas identified, for the first time, a molecular target that mediates the long-term, synaptic action of a neurotrophic factor. Our findings may also have general implications in the cell biology of neurotransmitter release.[0630][投稿写作]某杂志给出的标准Sample Cover Letter[the example used is the IJEB]Case 3Sample Cover Letter[the example used is the IJEB]Dear Editor of the [please type in journal title or acronym]:Enclosed is a paper, entitled "Mobile Agents for Network Management."
3.Cover letter的格式右上角或信未为求职者的地址左上角为未来老板的名字和地址正文求职者签名4.正文的写法4. 1。
第一段写你的目的第一段的第一句告诉未来老板你的信息来源,如果看广告得知,可以按以下的句型:From XXXX website (或其它来源) I learned about your need for a postdoctoral follow to investigate(职位的内容)in Department of Biology,in Nebraska Medical Center.如果他人告知My adviser, XXXXX,never misses an opportunity to tell me of your need for a postdoctoral follow to investigate(职位的内容)in Department of Biology,in Nebraska Medical Center。

writingThere are really only a few times to use a cover letter:1.When you know the name of the person hiring2.When you know something about the job requirement3.When you've been personally referred(which might include 1 and 2)Under those conditions, you can help your cause by doing some of the résumé analysis for your potential new boss.To illustrate, here's the best cover letter I ever received:Dear David:I am writing in response to the opening for xxxx, which Ibelieve may report to you.I can offer you seven years of experience managing communications for top-tier xxxx firms, excellent project-management skills, and a great eye for detail, all of which should make me an ideal candidate for this opening.I have attached my résumé for your review and would welcome the chance to speak with you sometime.Best regards,Xxxx Xxxx Here's what I like about this cover letter:.It.It The writer of this letter took the time to think through what would be relevant to me.Instead ofscattering lots of facts in hopes that one was relevant, the candidate offered up an opinion as to which experiences I should focus on.And that means the writer isn't just showing me skills related to the job, he's showing me he'll be the kind of employee who offers up solutions — instead of just laying problems on my desk.第四篇:graduate coverletterCui WangApril, 2013Mr.WuHuman Resources Joe Caps1000 E. 569h Street, Apt. 1Chicago, IL, 60637October 28, 2010Dear Sir or Madam:I am a fourth-year student at the University of Chicago double-majoring in Economics and Classical Studies. I am writing in response to the position posted on the Goldman Sachs website, and I believe that I will be able to contribute to Goldman based on my experience and skills. As a Summer Analyst at Morgan Stanley this summer, I learned how to structure debt, analyze cash flows, and prepare my findings in a clear and concise manner to be presented to clients. I have learned how to effectively manage large-scale budgets and how to understand and navigate complex organizational structures through my work in Student Government. As project team leader at Eckhart Consulting, a student-run consulting group on the University of Chicago campus, I have gained analytical skills as well as the ability to comprehend and develop organizational processes and protocols. In addition, my four years as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician have given me the opportunity to manage crisis situations and work together on teams to achieve a desired outcome. Through all three experiences, I have come to enjoy working in fast-paced, high-pressured situations as well as develop my teamwork and leadership skills in those types of environments. In addition, my education in the classroom has prepared me for the rigors of a position such as one at Goldman. In addition to my major in Economics, I have been selected to participate in the Chicago Careers in Business program, through which I have been able to learn more about finance and business structures. My concentration in Classical Studies has allowed me to study the origins of today’s legal, governmental, and economic systems. Moreover, translating the Latin and Greek languages has taught me to approach problems logically and systematically.I believe that my academic, co-curricular, and work experiences have demonstrated that I work hard and can learn fast. I am looking forward to speaking to you about how my qualifications and skills are applicable to a position at Goldman Sachs. Thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.Sincerely,Joe CapsJoe Maroon1000 E. 50th Stree t jmaroon@uchica go Apartment #0 484-347-1811Chicago, IL 60615 The Boston Consulting Group300 N. LaSalle DriveChicago, IL 60654Dear Ms. Striker,I am a third-year at the University of Chicago, double-majoring in Mathematics with Specialization in Economics and Law, Letters, and Society. I am writing to apply for the position of Summer Associate at the Boston Consulting Group. My interest in consulting stems from a thirst for learning, and is driven by a passion for economics and analytical problem-solving. In particular, I am interested in BCG after attending your information session on January 5 and engaging team members like Max Hayman. My strengths lie in my analytical skills, teamwork experience, and leadership ability. I have developed these analytical skills through rigorous coursework, including math classes considered to be some of the toughest offered to undergraduates. I successfully applied these skills at my internship with the Pritzker Organization last summer, taking sole ownership of conducting research on a variety of Master Limited Partnerships. Having little-to-no experience with the industry or investing concepts involved, I quickly stepped up to the challenge, delivering a memo with basic valuations, catalysts and risks, and investment theses. At campus group Eckhart Consulting, I worked with my project team to overcome the difficulties of being half-staffed, meeting the deadline to deliver our recommendations, which were adopted. Working in teams has always excited me, as I love to learn from others like me in their drive to solve a problem, yet so different in their approach. Continuing my dedication, I became Principal of Consulting within one year of joining the group. Through my tenure on management, I have honed my leadership abilities, overseeing all projects by advising team meetings and collaborating with project leaders. In applying for this position, I am not just looking for job experience. I am applying for the Consultant position, as advertised on your website. My strength lies in solving real world problems proactively. For example, as a summer intern at Power2Switch, a startup that helps small businesses switch electricity suppliers, I tackled the problem of low conversion rates from cold calls to sales. I first conducted primary market research by calling 400 small businesses to understand their energy usage patterns. From this research, I discovered that many small businesses were unable to switch electricity suppliers because this decision was made by property management firms. Hence, I recommended the sales force shift their focus to property management firms, reducing time spent on sales pitches.I enjoy leading in a way that fosters a motivated and effective team environment. I was engagement manager for Eckhart Consulting, the leading consulting student organization on campus. As engagement manager, I was responsible for working with the client to define their problem and expectations. At the same time, I was also responsible for guiding my team to develop a framework to solve the client’s problem: inadequate member participation. Using this framework, I created specific workflows, and delegated these workflows among members. I ensured that members were working effectively by assigning workflows that fulfilled each member’s goals and motivations. As a result, our strategy was implemented, client member participation increased by 50%, and my three team members became engagement managers.I believe I will bring much to your firm. Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to speaking with you soon.Sincerely,Joe MaroonNameemailphone numberDear XYZ:I am a fourth – year student at the University of Chicago majoring in Economics. I am writing to apply for a full-time position as an entry-level Financial Analyst. I am a very passionate individual, and I feel that my communication and analytical skills as well as my focus on teamwork strengthen my qualifications for this position. With my work experience I have had the opportunity to develop skills in Finance while gaining a diversified exposure to business. This past summer I had an internship at Thomson Reuters, where I developed a financial model to generate a revenue projection for a new product release. I evaluated the company’s existing business case and rebuilt it to add greater flexibility and the ability to quickly update relevant data while reflecting the ever-changing business environment. In the summer of 2009 I had an internship at Pearl Meyer and Partners, a compensation and incentives consulting firm, where I conducted research and analysis for an annual survey on compensation. The prior summer at Sullair Corporation I worked in Finance as well, where I organized an in depth inspection of the financial processes of the company and updated the policies regarding financial compliance. These experiences helped me to develop analytical and presentation skills while conducting thorough research and cohesively organizing the results for my superiors. I developed valuable interpersonal skills and a strong attention to detail while having a positive effect on the performance and financial security of the company, qualities that I believe are essential to my success at your firm.My academic preparation and extracurricular activities also provide a solid background for success. During my collegiate career I have taken the initiative to become involved in several activities, including the Varsity Football team. I love the intensely competitive nature of the sport and the emphasis on using teamwork to succeed in high pressure situations. I also served as President of my chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., a service oriented fraternity, and have participated in the career preparation programs Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) and Chicago Careers in Business (CCIB), which requires graduate Booth School of Business coursework. I enrolled in Financial Accounting and Corporate Finance, with Corporate Finance in particular equipping me with many of the valuation tools and financial skills that are essential that one has a solid grasp of. Within these activities I have further developed my time management and communication skills, and have become accustomed to taking the lead and setting the example for others to follow.I look forward to an opportunity to discuss your available positions and my qualifications in more detail. Thank you for your time.Best regards,Name1111 South Woodlawn Ave., Apt. 1Chicago, IL, 60615(111) 111-1111jmaroon@January 13, 2011Farley Capital L.P.780 Third Ave.New York, NY, 10017Dear Mr. Stetsenko,I am a fourth year economics major at the University of Chicago and am interested in joining your firm as an Analyst. Four years ago, I became fascinated with Value Investing and began a self-study program that continues to this day. I am confident that this repertoire of value investing fundamentals, coupled with my prior experiences in asset management, will allow me to be a successful employee at Farley Capital.I enjoy shouldering significant responsibility and carrying out in-depth investment analysis. Last summer, I worked at The Pritzker Organization, the merchant banking arm of the Pritzker family of Chicago. My first major project was to advise senior management on whether to hold or sell a $50 million portfolio of Canadian Asset-Backed Commercial Paper. After extensive due diligence, I was able to model the expected absolute losses of the portfolio. While those losses were low, the presence of spread-loss triggers posed an unmanageable, systematic risk of a complete loss of invested capital. Moreover, highly leveraged structure finance securities did not fit the Pritzker family’s investment philosophy or circle of competence. Thus, I ultimately decided on a sale recommendation and presented my thesis to the entire staff. Thereafter, I evaluated roll-up opportunities in the food and lighting industries as proposed by another private equity firm. I identified industry trends, analyzed each planned acquisition, and interviewed the management teams of each buildup. Finally, I reported my findings in a memo to the investment committee.Phoenix Capital Partners is the culmination of my long-standing obsession with value investing.I started the organization as a means by which to invest my own money as well as to practice first-hand the theories and philosophies I learned in reading classic investing texts. However, it soon grew to be a legally recognized student-operated investment partnership with a consistent core of analysts and a number of outside investors. As the vice-president, I lead our members to conduct research on prospective equity investments, focusing primarily on the company’s long-term prospects. While we employ many of the common quantitative tools such as Discounted Cash Flow analysis, our emphasis is on competitive positioning and management among other qualitative factors. The fund has performed well in absolute terms given our limited cash deployment.A copy of my resume is enclosed. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you in advance for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,Joe MaroonJoe Caps1212 E. 569h Street, Apt. 1Chicago, IL, 60637January 25, 2008Dear Sir/Madam,I am a third-year student at the University of Chicago, majoring in Economics and am applying for an internship position in G & Co.’s Summer Analyst program for 2008. I am confident that the skills I have polished in previous internships, such as effective leadership and communication and analytical problem-solving, will allow me to be a successful intern and future employee of G & Co.I have the leadership and communication skills to be successful at Greenhill & Co. During my summer internship in Goldman Sachs’ Management Controls Department I collaborated with four interns to develop business tools. As the other team-members were located in New York, while I worked out of the Chicago office, we had to make an extra effort to ensure a high quality of work and timeliness in completing the project. Through this process I developed the ability to be an effective team member, even under challenging conditions. This skill is extremely valuable, especially in an increasingly globalized and collaborative world.During my summer internship as a Data-Analyst intern at Morningstar, I worked on activating mutual funds in the firm’s database. While performing this task, I faced a problem which required sharp analytical thinking. False inputs of dividend or capital gain payments created different values for Morningstar’s and the fund company’s calculation of a fund’s cumulative returns. Mismatching values compromised the information’s accuracy and hence Morningstar’s products. Therefore, I constructed an excel spreadsheet to calculate the returns, and manipulated the inputs, allowing me to find the cause of the mismatch. This task developed my analytical thinking and attention-to-detail skills, which are crucial as an investment-banking analyst. Finally, I am confident that I possess the dedication, interpersonal skills and keen interest in the financial markets that will allow me to thrive given the opportunities available at G & Co.I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss the summer analyst program and my qualifications. Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,Joe Caps。

Do not think of your cover letter as an autobiography; it should be brief and to the point. The purpose of the cover letter (and resume) should be one thing - it should demonstrate that you meet or exceed the requirements listed in the job description. It should demonstrate that you're interested in the position, and that you're available to accept the position if offered. Additional information beyond this can be counterproductive, as it dilutes the core purpose of the cover letter.
