表语从句常接在系动词(be动词)后,毕竟系表结构。
主语从句有两种特别重要且常用的句型模板: is done + 主语从句 (表达人们对一件事的观点和看法) is + adj./n. + 主语从句(表达一件事的评价) 同位语从句是用来解释说明一个抽象名词,在句中位于抽象名词后。
常见抽象名词:idea, opinion, fact, evidence, question, doubt, reason, theory, belief, possibility, chance, hope, contention, guarantee等。
定语从句是修饰限定名词,先行词n. + 关系词 + 陈述句 。
关系词在定语从句中作宾语时(及物动词的并与或介词后的宾语),都可以省略。
在状语从句的从属连词中,as一词多义需要注意。
并且,只要as后引导的是完整的句子,那么它引导的一定是状语从句。
先行词关系词事/物which/that人who/whom/that人/ 物(所有格)whose时间when地点where原因why 定语从句又分为限定性定语从句(无逗号隔开)和非限定性定语从句。
本质区别在于前面的先行词的范围是否明确,是否需要修饰限定。

例句:After the 1870's, a number of important authors began to reject the romanticism that had prevailed immediately following the Civil War of 1861-1865 and turned instead to realism.解析:并列复合句的定义是,两个或者以上的子句之间是并列关系,在这个句子当中,只有一个主语,那就是“a number of important authors”,也就是只有一套主谓结构,也就是只有一个子句,所以这个句子是主从复合句。
比如,I am a teacher and love gym. 这是一个主谓结构,只有一个主语,这就是主从复合句;但是,I am a teacher and I love gym. 这是两套主谓结构,连接词“and”前后有两个主语,,所以这个句子才是并列复合句。
